This beautiful apartment in Rome is situated in the Renaissance era building which was once a convent, in the neighborhood which in the roman times was occupied by the fabulous Gardens of Maecenas and, later, by the extended properties of Nero’s Golden House (Domus Aurea). After, Titus and Trajan each erected a complex of baths over the palace. If you leave the Colosseum square at the northwest corner, the street names will give a sense of the ancient setting (viale della Domus Aurea, crossing the Parco Oppio, leads to the via Mecenate).
The park (in Latin horti) was established by C.Cilnius Maecenas, a very wealthy Roman of Etru...scan descent and Augustus’ informal advisor in matters of culture. A patron of both, Virgil and Horace, Maecenas was dedicatee of some Horatian odes and his park is mentioned in one satire.
Now it is a quiet area in a busy city where you can find a beautiful park, Oppio, on your doorstep. From the apartment it is only a 5 minutes walk to the Colosseum. Here you’ll find the Metro (subway or underground) and buses that will take you anywhere you need to go.
The area is full of lovely roman restaurants, bars and shops of every kind.
This charming accomodation has an ideal position for those who arrive by plane as well as by train. It is not far from the Termini railway station (1 stop by underground line A) and the metro station “Vittorio Emanuele†line A and “Colosseo†line B.
Bright self-catering apartment is 90 sqm large and is divided on two floors. Entering the apartment you will find yourself in a large living room with a kitchen complete with washing machine, dishwasher,
refrigerator, stove and an oven. The kitchen area has a big gorgeous table seating 8 people, dating back to the 1800, two couches that can sleep 2 people, and two big windows.
Next to the living room there is a bedroom with a queen size bed and a private bathroom containing a bathtub. The second floor is an open space with a double bed, complete with closet and a seating-area that can be turned into two single beds and the second bathroom with a shower.
The whole building externally and internally has undergone a complete restoration. The apartment itself has been re-furnished with the help of an interior designer.

The apartment is greatly located and the first impression was very good.
However, they sell it for 8 but a part from the 2 double beds the other "sleeping side" are a tiny mattress (kind of cushion for chairs) on top of hard concrete!! Yes the sofa you see on the pictures are made on concrete! Even the children refused to sleep there!
Only two of the beds were ready and the other to make, we took the bed linen left on the wardrobe and it was full of dust, small spiders and their webs! We found only 2 rolls of toilet papers when all the apartment we rent we always found soups, toilet paper and kitchen soup, in Rome as well last year, so it is not about the city cultural way to host tourists, it is their lazy way to make money out without giving any service.
The dish washer was dirty and smelly so yucky that we washed by hand.
Even the dust scoop in the kitchen was unusable, such a tool can cost 1 euro at any Chinese shop, that show that total disinterest on making your vacation worth it to come back!
At the arrival I texted and called the owner and I didn't had any reply, until I insisted so hard that she answer the phone a little annoyed told me that she was abroad and someone was there waiting for me!
I called the agency (go2rome) and they helped me straight away.

thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, i'm glad to receive also a negative comments which helps to improve our service.
I'm sorry you've had such a negative experience in the apartment that normally receives many compliments.
During a period of your stay i was abroad and unfortunately wasn't able to check personally a cleaning of the apartment, but in case you would inform me about all this lacks i'll immediately provide an extra cleaning/soap, toilet paper etc. But i didn't get any complains from your party during the stay!
Regarding a communication at your arrival, i'm very sorry but i didn't get ANY of your text messages (please note that sometimes it happens with foreign numbers,so please don't rely on texting, a call is always better!). Missed only one call from you, then tried to call back with no answer... When you called me a second time, i answered (of course in a friendly way, how can i be annoyed with my guests??) telling that i'm very sorry but being abroad probably there were come connection problems, and that your check in agent is already waiting for you!
Very sorry you didn't contact me immediately, all this problems were so easily solvable.

Excellent location, just minutes from Colliseum, train station and restaurants. Very stylish. Short on storage for clothes. Washing machine and dishwasher not working properly and not particularly well equipped for cooking meals. Quite a busy street, particularly in the early morning when the rubbish bins outside the front door get emptied very noisily! Would definitely stay there again though.

Great apartment very comfortable. We were a family of 4 adults and 2 kids.
Excellent location for shops and the Colosseum which was only a 5 minute
walk away. From there, we managed to get on a tour bus quite easily. The
apartment had all the amenities, we did cooking and laundry as well. Highly

We were two couples staying in this flat together for a few days and it was the best vacation I have had. The flat was beautifuly decorated and had everything you could need of appliances and kitchen equiptment. It was within walking distance of all the attractions of Rome as well as shopping district.
The service was very friendly and great!
The perfect place if you are looking for a luxurious place to stay without having to stay in a hotel.
I have already reccomended it to all my friends and family and would highly reccomend it to you!

The apartment was everything promised by the ad. It was situated absolutely perfectly, was roomy and spotless and had everything that opened and shut. In a word....Fabulous!!!!
Julia was very helpful and friendly and this was much appreciated.
The position of the apartment was perfect. Very close to the Termini (main rail station) in Rome (approx 10 to 15 minutes walk) and literally a three minute walk to the nearest Metro. Bus routes run down Via Marulana which is about 60 meters from the front door of the apartment block.
The best thing is that the Colesseum is about six minutes walk down the road, and from there the Forum and the rest of Ancient Rome.....we walked Rome flat from the apartment and managed to see as much as we could cram into three days. There is a delightful little trattoria right outside, complete with the obligatory snotty Italian host, but the food and wine were excellent and the host provided the necessary amusement with his attitude. The location of the apartment is well served by other good pizzerias, supermarkets, laundromats,(although the apartment is fully equipped), pharmacies etc.
The only criticism I have is that when we arrived Rome was quite hot and the air conditioners did not work very well, if at all. The upstairs room in particular was very hot, but that was not a major problem.
All in all a highly satisfactory visit which we found very well worthwhile. I would recommend this apartment to anyone seeking to visit Rome.
