Batavia, NY,USAA holiday in itself!
Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in April 2013
The staff was very accommodating for all our travel questions and needs. The atmosphere of a quaint country inn, an oasis from the bustle of the streets of Rome, welcomed us home after each long day of sightseeing. The rooms were spacious, clean and welcoming. We loved the centeral commom area complete with the soothing sound of a water fountain.

As written on the title I booked at this beautiful Hotel in March. We stayed in an apartment for a week with my wife and my daughter. Ideal place for getting around Rome and have peace at night. We did not have any problems to move in the Eternal City due to from the hotel is very easy to reach the subway or the bus stop to go to downtown. The apartment is well finished and very cleaned. It was equipped with all the comforts but the thing that struck me most is the kindness of the owners and staff. I can only recommend it to everyone!

Rome's beautiful, and the apartment was great. Not spacious, but large enough for the four of us and the owners couldn't be more helpful. The apartment is a 10min walk from the Metro, in a peaceful suburb of Rome. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful spacious apartments located within walking distance to the Vatican and local metro station - bus service available right at the front of the hotel. Warm and friendly staff who arranged tours, airport transfers and a customized travel itinerary of Rome.
I really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend aurelia apartments. -

Left on 10/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We had the pleasure of staying at the aurelia Vatican apartments in late June of this year. We would definately stay here again in the future, only next time we would plan to stay for longer than 2 nights! We arranged to be met at the airport with the assistance of Sam and Kate, and this was money well spent. Traveling with three teen boys, my husband and I calculated costs and being met at the airport was only slightly more expensive than taking trains and the metro, not to mention a stress free luxury we had never indulged in before.
The apartments were hidden in a woody ravine in an otherwise heavily populated area near the Vatican. "Wonderfully isolated" according to my husband. The area is overgrown with trees and vegetation, and there were horses in the pasture next to the apartment one evening. Didn't expect that in Rome! What a treat to spend a busy hot day seeing the sights and then be able to hop on a bus and arrive back "home" to a quiet, tranquil setting.
On our arrival the first evening, we were a bit taken aback when our driver turned into the darkened ravine and we drove down the cobbled street to our destination. We were pleasantly surprised by our accommodations - we stayed in an apartment adjacent to the main building as we were a party of 5. We were greeted by Kate, who spent 20-30 minutes with us, describing the area and providing us information about public transportation. It was late Sunday evening (~9 pm) and she recommended a restaurant (Il Brillo Parlante) at Plaza del Popolo.
This was by far the best meal we had in Rome during our stay. This coming from a family who attempted to follow advice from Rick Steves but often found our own restaurants to be more satisfying. We were able to purchase our bus/metro tickets right in the office from Kate and then either walk 1 minute out the door to a bus stop, or walk ~10 minutes to the Metro directly. We walked up the ravine that first night, and honestly it felt a bit creepy as it was dark, wooded, and isolated but how terrific to emerge and find yourself at the Metro for a 10 minute ride to the Plaza! True we had not eaten all day but the atmosphere combined with the adventure of finding our way there late at night made it memorable! Wine, pasta, pizza, and more wine satisfied everyone, including one teen who proudly boasts of his "sophisticated palette"!
Aurelia Vatican apartments is kind to the budget, provided us with comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, and free WiFi. We wanted practical, comfortable, safe accommodations that were family friendly - we were pleasantly surprised with what we found. Adults had a room off the living room/kitchen next to the nicely appointed bathroom, and the three boys had single beds arranged in a loft over the living area. The apartment was quiet, except for my boys Skyping all night, and we had our own private patio area outside the door with lawn chairs for us to work on our suntans. We didn't do much cooking, but the kitchen seemed to be stocked with necessary supplies. The biggest issues we ran into were that someone previously tried to cook something inside the electric tea kettle so that was a bit dodgy, and as us tourists, we were not accustom to toilet paper sheets vs rolls so we managed to knock a whole stack of toilet paper onto the floor creating a mess. When will we ever learn!? The lighting was a bit dim in the communal area, but was a nice contrast to the broiling sun outside. The customer service we received was phenomenal! Bravo to all the staff.
I recommend staying at aurelia Vatican apartments, please just don't book it during the week we plan to stay next time we return to Rome! Enjoy! -

BordeauxA very nice place to be with very welcoming owners
Left on 09/30/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This rental is a very nice place with very good standing flats. The owners do their best to give you good advices for your visit and to give you a pleasant stay in their hostel. The bus station is located at less than 2 minutes by walk from the hostel and the tube station at 10 minuts and you can reach the center by these two ways by less than 30 minuts.
Thank you very much for everything to the owners ! -

This was a great spot. Close to the city and food shopping. The room was large, had a full kitchen, and balcony. The hosts were excellent, and really went out of their way to help recommend places to visit, restaurants, transportation, etc. The apartment was not supremely close to the center, however it is close enough that we walked home one night with ease, which says something. Also with the good transportation that is available it was never a problem. Overall a great place that I would highly recommend!

CanadaExcellent Stay - Good Value for Money
Left on 09/09/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This was a four/five star apartment with 6 star service! The best part of this stay are the owners and the staff. They were exceptionally hospitable, always willing to help with tourist questions and accommodating with the rooms. Whatever we needed they did their very best to get. For example, they didn't have a two bedroom for my cousin and I so they fit us into a studio and put two twin beds. Then I needed more sugar and didn't know how to use their can opener so they helped with that (minor things but nice when away from home).
It was also very convenient and comforting to know that the owners office is right on site, which is nice for tourists since often owners live away from the vacation rental and you don't want to get into a jam and have a difficult time contacting them.
We stayed in two of their apartments in the same week. One was a two bedroom and the other a studio. We didn't feel like we missed out on too much by staying in the studio compared to the two bedroom because both room were equipped with the same things and quality such as in the kitchen, dinette, and washrooms. Staying here was the best choice and great value for money. Rooms are spacious, everything is new and modern so none of that old renaissance look that often comes with old furniture. The rooms were also bright and clean. The kitchen has modern stove and fridge, granite countertops, and is fully equipped even with a can opener. The location is not in the core of Rome but convenient nonetheless. It was only a 10 min walk to the Metro which took you to the centre directly and for the non-walkers there was a bus stop right beside the building. Also, there is a grocery store about 10 min away that has everything you need. Also as a vegan traveling in the land of cheese, I wanted to self-cater so not only did the grocery store (and the apartment's kitchen) come in handy but there was a vegan friendly restaurant just around the corner!
The only negative was that if you decide to take the Metro their when you first arrive and decide to walk from the Metro station to the apartment just be aware that for the first time it feels like your walking in a desolate area. There's nothing but trees with only a spotting of homes, some of which look abandoned. But after 10 min (which feels like 30 min the first time you walk) there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you'll see a small street with modern homes.
My other negatives would be to turn off the dam water fountain at night, which is in the centre of the courtyard. It was like Chinese water torture due to the way the water flows so not relaxing when you are trying to get to sleep. We didn't have soundproof doors in the studio apartment (but did in the two bedroom) so we could hear the conversations in the courtyard at night. Also free the turtles from the lovely fountain. There were three or four small turtles in this cramped space in the fountain that is made of concrete, no greenery in there at all. Turtles don't belong in fountains (or aquariums) they belong in their natural habitats. It is cruel to keep them their just for show, these are living beings and should treated as such not as show pieces and for decoration. Let them free please in their natural habitats, if possible or consider building them a garden with a pond. The owners could do some research as to where they should go or contact a local animal rescue organization. They should have one in Rome but if not they'll definitely have a few in neighboring France.
A bonus is the free wifi! Thank god for free wifi when traveling in Europe, which is a rare thing over there (I'm Canadian so internet access is like having access to oxygen - it's a must and is everywhere). I even stayed in a four star hotel, paid a lot of money and the best I got was free wifi for 30 minutes a day. At aurelia Vatican apartments, you'll get free wifi all day.
This is the place to stay in Rome if you want a comfortable, clean, modern looking place to call home after a long day of sight seeing. I would stay here over a four or five star hotel any day. This was a four/five star apartment with 6 star service! -

My wife and our three kids spent 10 days at the aurelia as part of a 6 week European holiday, and our stay at the aurelia was the highlight of the trip. The apartment was absolutely beautiful, and very well located (1 minute to bus stop, 10 minutes supermarket, 20 minutes to train stop by foot). Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for the owners Sam and Kate or their staff, whether it was a supply of bus/train tickets (including buying back our leftovers), detailed tourist advice including booking things for us, through to finding me a gym for me, they happily provided everything we needed. Staying at the aurelia was the best choice we made, and made our Rome leg the best of the trip. Save yourself the time looking, the aurelia was the best accommodation we had in the whole of Europe by a long shot.

DohaExceptional hosts... But
Left on 08/12/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This was our first and very anticipated trip to Rome. Our dealings with the managers of the apartment prior to and using are stay we're outstanding, the accommodation though a huge let down.
We were placed in a extremely compact apartment on the outside of the building, the inner courtyard that looked so appealing was a far cry form our outlook. Our outside sitting area was a makeshift courtyard if you could call it that that, and looked directly onto scaffolds and black builders netting, an alleyway ran past it which was frequently used by the noisy neighbors with young children and offered no pivacy whatsoever ever.
The apartment was dark and dingy, and really dirty. The bathroom smelt, at first I thought it was roman drains, but on further inspection it was collective scum in between the toilet and shower area, a bathroom mat on the floor looked as though it had been there forever, and the dirt and dust that had collected in teh corners of the apartment a further testament to the fact that this place just gets surface cleaning.Although we were told a cleaner came every day the shower didn't get cleaned every day and everything still looked grubby.
The kitchen area was tiny and more akin to something you would find on small boat, compact in the extreme.
It was extremely disappointing as we had booked the place for a week, the place was very uncomfortable for a family of four the relaxing seating was one very uncomfortable couch and a dinning room table, to use the fourth chair you had to pull the whol table out in a tiny area as it was anyway, so breakfasted in shifts! Not that we ate much there anyway.
The setting of the apartments, a long way from the city. Considering the best way to get to see Rome is by walking, the added hassle of catching a tube or decent bus drive back to the apartment and another long walk was tiring. I think we could have got so much more out of our trip had we stayed closer to the city and broken our day up with return trips to our accommodation especially as we had two teenage kids in tow. It might have meant that we would have spent more time in Rome during the evening which was magical, but hard to do both day and night in the city from this location.
As lovely as you're Sam and kate, the managers of this apartment complex, I would not recommend it and wouldn't stay here again. -

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Our family (2 adults/3 children) had a great stay at the aurelia Vatican apartments. When we arrived the exceptionally helpful receptionist sat down with my wife and I and explained, in detail, how to get around Rome via public transport, (easy from the apartments), as well as "tips and tricks” for visiting the key tourist venues along some lesser known sites (Rome's oldest gelato shop for example).
The area in which the apartments are located is a quiet oasis within Rome. This tranquility is great at the end of a day walking thru' the city and visiting the key attractions. Considering the apartments are approximately 1.5 kms from the Vatican City, the location is all the more unique. The history behind the rural like surroundings is interesting and if you get the opportunity, ask Sam to relate the story.
The bus which travels past the Vatican City (museum entrance) can be caught at a stop which is 3-4 minutes' walk away. This bus also travels past the top of the Piazza del Popolo and this is a logical start point for any walk thru' central Rome. The metro station is about 10 minutes walk away so makes for easy access to this form of public transport.
If we get the opportunity to travel to Rome again we would not hesitate to stay at the apartments. A very friendly place and highly recommended.Response from Sam De Girolamo - AURELIA VATICAN APARTMENTS - 09/01/2012

Me & my family stayed at aurelia Vatican apartments for 1 week in July. The apartments were spotless, comfortable & well equipped. We had 2 studio apartments opposite each other which gave us a large terrace on the roof & 2 balconies. The rooms were cleaned every day & towels & bed linen changed. We didn't expect our rooms to be cleaned every day so that was a huge bonus. Sam the owner was extremely attentive & gave us lots of great advice about Rome & also recommended a trip to lago di bracciano which was wonderful. There was always someone available to answer any questions. Although not in the city centre, it is a lovely peaceful setting for the apartments, surrounded by parkland but a short walk to the nearest bus stop & metro. It is only about 40 min drive from the airport, we used the pre- bookable service that aurelia provides for a driver to collect you from the airport and also used it when we were returning home. Great value.

As an australian travelling through Italy it was great to be greeted with an aussie accent on check in but that was just the start of it! Kate and Sam went above and beyond to ensure every little aspect of my journey was as good as it could possibly be. Their recommendations and tips for my time in Rome were spot on, and their local knowledge is second to none. They did all they could to make my stay as enjoyable and stress free as it could be and they are just genuinely nice people who really do want you to have a great time in Rome. All this and the apartments are fantastic! I can not recommend this place highly enough. Was the highlight of my trip to Italy!

The service at aurelia was superb. They cleaned the room, fresh towels etc. on a daily basis. A bit different to when we stayed in London for the week. We were fortunate enough to have a room with balcony, which was great for the sun and fresh air, plus providing us with a larger room area. Location was very handy, bus and train services in close walking proximity. As were local super-markets, restaurants and bars. Further from the city areas, but this was good as it was quiet and relaxing. I would have to say the best thing about staying at aurelia was the helpfulness, warmth and friendliness of Sam, Kate and their staff. What I didn't like, which is my fault, sore feet from all the walking and sight seeing.

The owners and staff go out of their way to welcome and educate you on using the metro/bus/train, give you head's up on good restaurants, sights to see and a reputable tour group (recommended by Rick Steves, which we used), and the staff gives you a handy multipage handout with the information. The staff also sell 100 minute passes (at no profit to them), which are cheap and practical for use on all public transport. They arranged for airport transport to and from the apartment and everything was perfect, driver was professional, cost was reasonable and well worth it. The rooms were spacious, we had three adults and three kids and it was nice having a kitchen to make breakfast in the morning. Prices were very reasonable, better deal than staying in the heart of Rome. We were a ten minute walk from the metro, several stops from heart of Rome and about only two metro stops from the Vatican. Once you return from a day's travels, it's a 5-10 minute walk to a couple non-touristy restaurants with great prices and food, which we frequented. All in all, a great stay.

We loved our stay at aurelia Vatican apartment,we spent a week relaxing and doing day trips outside Rome,we had a weekly ticket for the bus and metro which made traveling really easy from aurelia, we would start our day with a short bus ride to have coffee and pastry then back to the apartment to prepare for our day.We visited Orvieto,Frascati,Tivoli Gardens,Trastervere and anguillara and it was so easy to do from aurelia. We wanted to do a pizza making class so Kate found one for us with Walks of Italy which included a tasting of lovely food and oils at a market, great day! We had everything we needed at the apartment,we enjoyed sitting on the balcony at the end of our sightseeing day with a glass of wine.Sam and Kate and the other girls were so friendly and helpful from the very informative check in to our departure. We also had our transfers arranged through aurelia and they were spot on. There was nothing we did not like and we will stay again next time we visit Rome.

The apartment building is away from the hustle and bustle of central Rome which is absolutely ideal for families. The a apartments are clean, spacious and modern. The location is on a good bus route and is close to Vatican City. The owners and staff provide the guests with personalized service helping you plan the time you have (complete with complimentary maps). Sam and Kate, the owners, really made our stay in Rome extra special by personally seeing to our comfort and helping us with everything. I would recommend this location to anyone who really wants to experience life in Rome. Each apartment comes with a full kitchen and an excellent grocery store is nearby for families on a budget. The thing we liked best was how we were made to feel like family rather than guests. We are definitely going back again only this time for a longer time.

The apartment we stayed in at aurelia Vatican was a 1 bedroom in the round pink building, not the main complex but just next door. Kate told me it was their largest one bedroom apartment and it had a very large balcony. There were 5 of us (3 kids, 2 adults). Sam and Kate installed three single beds in the bedroom and we slept on the fold out couch. The kitchen was easy to use and well-equipped (full sized fridge, small freezer, oven). Kate and Sam are extremely friendly and helpful without being pushy. They helped with lots of little bits of advice, telling us where to find playgrounds, etc. There's a coin-operated washer/dryer in the complex which is very convenient.
The only slight down side is the neighborhood. It's very green, but quite odd-feeling with lots of empty lots, large dumpsters which are often over-filled and spilling to the street, and a general feeling of not being well kept-up. Apparently this is because, as Sam explained, the government had planned to transform the area into a large park, but the plans have been delayed by owners not wanting to sell their land, government money disappearing, etc. It's an area in transition, and that's quite obvious when walking around. Definitely not unsafe, but not a charming Roman neighborhood either. On the positive side, it's quiet.
We usually took the bus to the subway station, which was too much of a trek for our little ones (20 minutes or more for a 5 year old, probably 15 for an adult). The bus stops very near the apartments. Unfortunately they weren't very frequent except at peak hours, so we often waited 20 minutes, especially on our way home in the late afternoon (off-peak).
Still, all in all a very good place to stay with reasonable prices, an honest and welcoming pair of managers, and good facilities.

Spokane, WA, U.S.Ava in Rome: The Best Place We've Ever stayed!
Left on 04/19/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We've stayed at quite a few 4-star hotels in our 40 years of marriage -- and this place wins, hands down! My wife and I resided at the aurelia Vatican apartments (AVa) March 3-12, 2012, and we were were extremely pleased with our accommodations. (For current comparison, we stayed at very nice 4-stars in Paris and Milan on this trip, and aVa topped them.) We chose a one-bedroom with kitchen/dining area/sitting room, and the rooms were clean, modern, airy, and filled with light! (The windows in every room and the french doors leading to our third floor patio/balcony certainly helped.) The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was more than adequate. But the service! Incomparable! These people really know Rome. After Kate handily carried our very heavy bags up to our room, proffered a complimentary Coke, and got us settled, she invited us back down to the office for an "Orientation to Rome/transportation" session. By the time she had finished, we knew how to get around Rome on the very handy public transport systems (bus and Metro), where/how to buy tickets, and we had a clearly marked map of the city (courtesy aVa) indicating the "must-see" sites, bus routes, and some favorite restaurants (actually, part of the welcome package includes a list of the owner's/staff's favorite eateries). And a grateful "tip of the hat" to Sam, the owner; Sam's dad; Brunella; and Kosmo -- they, too, provided excellent service. Do stay here -- it was the highlight of our European adventure. We hope to return in a few years!

Sam & Kate are great people,I also loved the crew, they always willing to help you in anything you need. Great service, house keeper was always changing the towels and linens and cleaning.
I was there for one week. My apartment was in the top floor, very private and quiet. The supermarket is walk distance, great quality food and inexpensive, I was able to buy everything I need to keep my strict diet(I'm a professional athlete)The only thing I missed was a microwave, they offer only stove, but it is okay. Also would be great if had a coffee machine in the apartment, if you want coffee you need to buy it at the lobby from the machine, but it's only 0.60 of Euros. For me would be better if had a coffee machine because I'm a cofeeholic LOL...
But in general this place is great, it's in in a typical Italian neighborhood, you can see the natives doing their stuff, It's very close to the Metro and bus station.
I had a wonderful time there with my fiancee, it was one of the best trips and favorite place to stay in Rome.
I will certainly come back there.
Thanks, Sam & Kate, you guys rock+++ -

We had an amazing time at aurelia Vatican apartments and a delightful experience from the time we booked. Sam & Kate are amazing hosts and assisted us from the beginning to make sure that our Rome stay was smooth and memorable.
Location was excellent and so nice to stay just far enough away to enjoy the feel of the Italian countryside - we loved being at the beginning/end of the bus line or just a short walk to aurelia shops or to the metro for a short trip into the heart of Rome. It is a peaceful place to stay and our accommodation was really nice. The apartments were modern with great amenities, the beds were really comfortable and it was really quiet. We liked being able to buy some local delicacies and enjoy them back at our apartment - it is great to have the option. It was such a pleasure to wake up in a major city but to the quiet and the smell of country air.
We liked everything ... absolutely everything and can't wait to go back again. A perfect place to eat, sleep & play. Thank you Sam & Kate -

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at aurelia which was more like Kate and Sam's place. The personal touches start the moment you check in with an orientation of Rome including where to eat at the tourist sites and how to get around. The apartments had everything you need and include some basics like tea, sauce and olive oil in the well apointed kitchen. The brilliant supermarket is close and convenient (walking distance) so we could make meals at 'home'. You could catch the bus from the door ornwalk to the train, location was fantastically close to all sites but nestled in amongst trees and a quiet street. The beds are large and comfy, even the fold out sofa was comfy. The bathroom was clean and a good size while the showers provided continuous hot water for all, including our 19year old daughter!! Our daughter approved of the tv stations as she found a few in English. We enjoyed some down time sitting on the terrace or in the courtyard with a wine chatting to Sam. As hosts, Sam and Kate were fantastic. They had a great knowledge of local history and offered invaluable advise about Rome as well as hire cars, travel around Italy, transport and interpreting into English when we were purchasing taps or reading mobile messages! I have since given out the 2 aurelia business cards to people we have spoken to and will continue to recommend the apartments to all and any who are lucky enough to spend time in Rome. Thank you Sam and Kate, we hope to return some time in the not to distant future...

At check in we were sat down, given a map and a whole load of useful information on places to visit, shopping hints and eating tips. It proved invaluable and since leaving we haven't experienced anything close to our aurelia Vatican apartments experience in other European cities. The laundry facilities were super handy too.

We arrived at this lovely hotel and hotel staff showed us the apartments before we got very useful info about the city of Rome. Both of the attractions that are worth visiting, information about transportation in Rome. During the holidays, we got lots of advice about nice places to eat, etc. So we received an incredible service. The cleaning was great, the hotel is located just outside Rome, but there are both bus and metro very close. A successful stay only recommended.

Left on 10/03/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We stayed here with our four children, who range in age from 11-6 years, for five nights in a 2 bed apartment. The apartment was nice and functional but the surrounding area was dissappointing, quite run down and derelict. The owners and staff were superb, very helpful and friendly. The metro was about 15 minutes walk away and the bus stop just 5 minutes away, but beware of the unpredictable bus regularity! The hotel was very good to order taxis and we were never ripped off when we used them to call a taxi, which was not the case on every occasion when we took a cab from a taxi rank. A taxi should not cost any more than €20, even late at night. Its a good location for those planning to spend all day in the centre of Rome but just that bit too far if you have kids who get tired during the day and need to maybe come home for awhile. Some of the apartments, possibly the smaller ones, had a beautiful balcony or terrace and this would have been lovely to relax in while our children played with the adored turtles in the courtyard. Overall, lovely people running nice apartments in an average location.

We loved staying at the aurelia Vatican apartments. The service was warm, relaxed, personalised, very informative and helpful, especially when we were trying to find a venue for a special dinner when we had a babysitter - a rare event!!! We were given a map and walked through the location of the accommodation and how to get around, including bus and train routes. They also gave us a list of recommended restaurants near popular tourist sites - we tried several and couldn't fault them! The location was fabulous - an easy 10 minute walk to the 10 minute train trip into the CBD of Rome or 2 minute walk to the bus... The apartment was lovely - well appointed, clean and spacious. We'd thoroughly recommend these apartments, particularly for families.

My 3 kids slept upstairs in the loft while my husband and I had our own room on the main floor which also included a fully equiped kitchen. I especially liked the washer and dryer on the premise. Our last night at the apartment we washed our clothes without wasting precious time sitting at a local laundromat. Thanks again Kate and Sam for making our stay pleasurable.

The owners are great. Very friendly and take the time to give local information. I do think for the location, size and furnishings, the price we paid for 4 nights was too much. Each apartment should have an iron and ironing board. If you need to iron you have to get dressed and go out of your apartment and down to the laundry area to use the 1 iron that is available. Each apartment should have enough dishes for the max. amount of guests. We did not have any bowls in our aparmtnet, but luckily had family in another apartment and got some from them. Minor things, but for what we paid those items should have been available.

Our stay here was fantastic, both for the actual accommodations and for the information provided to about how to see Rome when it came to avoiding lines, seeing the sites efficiently, transportation, restaurants (with price guide) and emergency contact numbers. Sam, the owner, spoke perfect English and Italian, showed us personally around the apartment and how to use the appliances etc. The apartment was clean, modern and efficient, and very flexible for sleeping arrangements. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The air conditioning was lovely at this time of year, and we all took advantage of the free wifi.Service was exceptional, we also had access to laundry facilities and vending machines. Location was ideal with easy access to metro and bus, and it was a short trip into downtown. We had a rental car and parked it safely and securely in the unit parking lot(video surveillance) and then relied on public transport. The atmosphere of the apartments courtyard was lovely - all the apartments are a cheerful yellow and look out into a courtyard with a fountain in the middle - black iron railings, white trim - and all lit up at night. A great haven to return to after a full day of seeing everything and the sore feet to prove it!
We would stay here again without a doubt, and highly recommend it. Great value, location, and oustanding service. -

I shared one room with my boyfriend during a stay with a big group of friends at aurelia. The room was very big and tidy compared to any other hotels I have stayed in and looked recently renovated. We felt more then comfortable in this luxurious room. Cause we were a big group of people we were devided over several rooms. Howerever the hotel managed to locate dthem all next to another so we could easily stay in good contact with one another.
As the picture shows, the hotel looked super romantic and idyllic from the outside due to the flowers and decoration. There was a very relaxed vibe amongst the staff and other hotel guest and the whole stay was very effrotless.
Aurelia was easy accesible by car or public transport and was located in a very peaceful and quiet neighbourhood. It only took a few stop metro ride to get the centre.
Although it wasnt located right in the centre of Rome, I would definitely choose this hotel over a more central location due to the friendly management and the atmosphere. I had an absolut great time here and I really felt like I was on a holdiday all along. -

Kate is a gem!
I have never before been welcomed to a hotel with a sit down with a map to explain the local attractions, how best to get around, the hours of the supermarket, suggestions for tours/bookings etc. in my life! This was fantastic! We really felt like we mattered and that nothing was too much trouble.
Rome is expensive! For the same price as these apartments (which are well connected by public transport to central Rome) you would struggle to get a hotel room a quarter of the size with none of the convenience of having your own kitchen, front door and separate lounge/bedroom and access to a laundry.
Bathroom has great water pressure and your own water heater - so no shortage of hot water.
Kitchen has both a stove top and oven and is well equipped with cooking utensils etc.
Dining table and chairs, large couch and flat screen TV all provided.
Aircon in lounge and bedroom working and efficient - in fact the design of the apartment block is such that we didn't need aircon despite the 30 degree plus days except for sleeping.
There is little ambient noise and the tap water tasted fantastic (this is oddly true of all of Rome and saves on expensive mineral water!).
Great Wifi and lots of power sockets!

Overall we would highly recommend this apartment complex to everyone who travel to Rome with the sightseeing attentions.

We stayed here on our daughters reccomendation & we were delighted with our apartment, clean, spacious & well equipped.
The best part about staying here though is the way Kate & Sam treat their guests, it is like a home away from home. Their knowledge of Rome & the advice they gave was spot on & helped us get the best out of our 3 day stay.
The apartments are in a quiet area away from the hustle & bustle, easy to get to & from, public transport is close by too.
The laundry facilities are a bonus too.
Would stay here again & would definitely reccomend as a great place to stay.
Thank you Kate & Sam. -

I absolutely loved my stay at aurelia Vatican apartments. I stayed there with a friend for 12 days and had a great time in Rome. Sam, Kate and Letitzia were very welcoming and explained everything to us: where to go and when to go (which can be of great importance in Rome) The location is a bit further from the center but it only took us about 20 minutes to get there. Also, it's nice to go somewhere a bit quiter after a busy day. If ever I go back to Rome (I should, since I threw a coin into the Trevi Fountain...) I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone else who's planning to go!

The apartment is a well thought out plan and roomy, such a quiet place to come back to after a full day of walking and visiting in the city, our room has a beautiful big terrace that we could sit out to eat, enjoy the evening and do some routine excercise, bed is a little on the soft side, but great location. Owner Sam and Kate as well their staff are all very helpful with directions and places to go etc. We would stay there again on our next visit to Rome. My niece from California has very fond memories of the apartment, we both fell very lucky to have found aurelia apartment.

Lovely contemporary serviced accommodation. Complex is only a few years old and very well maintained. Bus stop is 2 minutes away, with easy access to Metro, with about 4 stops to key tourist areas of Rome (Spanish Steps, etc). Located close to Vatican and lovely residential and shopping area around The Vatican. Not as manic or hectic as downtown Rome, so very peaceful at night. The location is not touristy, so shopping at the supermarket (10 min walk) and other shops, it is all locals. The owners are aussie and so helpful and hospitable with information and assistance plus speak Italian! Will definitely stay again, next time!

Kate and Sam made our visit to Rome one we will never forget. Myself and my partner where met my the couple and they helped us gather a full itenerary for our stay. They went out of their way more than once to help us and give us advice. Without them we wouldn't have seen half of what we did see. The apartment was fabulous. Very modern and stylish and the shower alone was a delightful, powerful, hot blast every morning!! The presses were filled to capacity with all the essential utilities needed to dine in. All in all a wonderful stay! Sam and Kate, thank you very much and we wish you all the best for the future! x

We have just returned from a week's holiday in Rome. We found aurelia Vatican apartments through tripadvisor. The place was very nice and comfortable. We had two separate bedrooms which is necessary when travelling with teenagers. The bus stop was just around the corner while the metro station was not very far. Going into the city centre was no problem at all.
The greatest asset of the place is the people who run it. Both the owners and Laetitia at the reception have been excellent.
The only problem we found was that there was construction under way next to the apartments which meant that around 8 in the morning the workers started work. So if one wanted to wake up a bit late in the morning that was not possible. -

Left on 02/28/2011 for a stay in November 2010
Myself , my partner and two young kids stayed here at the start of an extended European Christmas holiday. Whilst I had travelled to Rome previously, it had always been for work, never for leisure and never with children. I was a little hesitant about the whole idea of a serviced apartment but all my reservations were put to rest as soon as we walked through the front door.
Kate and Sam were the perfect hosts, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were extremely helpful with all our requests for information.
The apartments were in immaculate condition and the perfect size to comfortably fit all four of us. They were clean and well designed with a very homely feel about them.
The location was great and close to transport and shops allowing us to see all of Rome and grab all the supplies we needed to keep our stomachs full.
I am a regular to Europe for work and I will not be looking anywhere else when I need accomodation in Rome. This place was perfect and exceeded all my expectations.
I have never felt it necessary to write a review on a place I have stayed before. It would be wrong not to give this place the credit it deserves.

My fiancee and I spent 5 nights here. After a long transit into Rome we were greeted by the friendly owners who immdeiately made us feel at home. Our apartment was basically new and included all of the comforts you appreciate after a long day of sight seeing. The owners took the time to help us find our bearings in Rome and provided many fantastic suggestions on places to visit, eat and drink.
Located only a short walk from the metro station the apartment was in a great position to access all the major sights. We will definitely be staying here when we next visit Rome!

The apartment was exactly how it was presented and described on their website. No hidden extras! The service was personalised, honest and reliable. I have already recommended this apartment to friends and family. The owner/ manager Sam is really welcoming and accommodating. The location is great, only a couple of Metro stops to the Vatican. The only slight downfall is the area (in a residential area which looks a little deserted and neglected). However, this is a minor when you consider the luxury apartment, the friendly & professional service and the location to central Rome! Will hopefully be staying there again soon.

My adult daughter and myself stayed at the aurelia apartments for two nights. The owners of the property sat down with us giving us maps of Rome, and explaining how to see Rome in the limited amount of time we had. We arrived late at night, so we were impressed at the service we received. The owners even let us stay an extra half day, at no charge, since our plane was leaving at night. The one bedroom suite was fairly large, very clean, and had a fully equipped kitchen. There was a pull out sofa in the kitchen area. The apartment was a ten minute walk to the metro.

The location was great, a bus around the corner which took us to a lot of the tourist attractions, the nearest train station, as well as the supemarket if we did not wish to do the 10 minute walk.
Also a washing machine and dryer if needed.
The rooms are large and very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked to do your own meal preparations.

My husband, 2 children (aged 6 and 4) and I stayed for 5 days in July. Sam's welcome introduction with information and helpful advice was a great start to our stay and the overall service was fantastic. The children loved the fountain and the turtle, and were made to feel very welcome. The apartment had everything we needed, the air conditioning was wonderful, and the metro station very convenient for getting around easily. The only drawback was that there were not restaurants just a little closer - with the children and the hot weather, we tended to cook at the apartment and eat in instead.

First of all I was relieved before I even got to Rome to hear an aussie accent on the other end of the phone knowing I wouldnt have to deal with a communication barrier. Sam provided first class hospitality by picking us up at the Metro station and then sitting down once we got there to find out any questions we had about our room, the city, and telling us all about the sights to see in Rome. He even gave us a detailed map and restaurant recommendations. Sam provided full excellence by being there for us whenever we needed him which says a lot considering he runs the place.

Friends and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment for 6 nights, and were utterly delighted with our entire experience at aurelia apartments. Transportation was arranged for us from FCO, and upon our arrival, Kate warmly welcomed us, and provided an overview of the city, including modes of transportation, dining recommendations, and suggestions for our visit. Throughout our stay, she and Sam were incredible, going above and beyond to make our visit pleasant and hassle free.
The apartment itself was impeccable, newly furnished, clean, and quiet. The location in the suburbs is ideal for relaxing, but convenient for sightseeing, and the easy walk to the grocery store made it possible for us to not rely on restaurants all the time. There is a bit of a walk to the Metro, (10 minutes) but the street is relatively traffic free. (It is also perfectly, safe, despite some dubious graffiti. My group was composed of all ladies who traversed the street to the Metro at all times of the day/night and never felt unsafe.)
Undoubtedly, however, the best thing about this trip was Kate & Sam. Their hospitality made our entire stay so pleasant, I heartily recommend this facility to everyone.Response from Sam De Girolamo - AURELIA VATICAN APARTMENTS - 07/16/2010

It's very hard to find something to say about this accommodation that's not already been said in other reviews. We stayed for 8 nights and found Sam and Kate excellent hosts. The apartments are modern and clean, the location close enough to easily reach all the main sights while far enough away not to get stung by the tourist prices in the restaurants and bars. Kate provided a list of good places to eat and suggestions for places to visit. The best tip we had was to get the 7 day travel pass which gave us unlimited bus and metro rides - it was very well used. It was our first visit to Italy and we were very pleased with our choice of accommodation, we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

There were 5 of us, all adults and stayed at a 2-BR unit: very comfortable beds; a fully equiped kitchen; 2-full bath with toilet; impeccably clean. Excellent and quiet location; a mile walk to the Metro station; very accessible to all of Rome destinations.
Sam, the owner, met us at the apartment to check us in. He briefed us about the area, which helped us a lot. We stayed there for 4-days. At the end of our stay, he even arranged our ride to the airport, in a Mercedes SUV at a very reasonable rate, less than what we would have paid for a cab. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Next time I visit Rome, I will definitely stay there again. -

I booked this apartment for a family treat after reading many good reviews. The owner Sam and his girlfriend, Katie were very helpful and nice. He made our stay in Rome a pleasant and memorable one. The apartment was clean, neat and comfortable. An incident happened regarding our water heater that was not functioning in our unit. We texted Sam but we forgot to tell him our apartment unit. Sam went to check each and every apartment and finally found out it was our apartment. When we came back from visiting the city, the apartment heater was already fixed. We were very pleased.

So much praise to give that it's hard to know where to start. We had a wonderful time in Rome with our two-year-old, in large part because we stayed at aurelia Vatican apartments. Bottom line: unless you have to be right next to the main sites or can't afford it, stay here. I would even consider shifting dates in Rome to get in. This is a great, great find.
Since our experience entirely lived up to the other, uniformly fantastic reviews, just a few things to add:
--don't worry about the location: On three previous trips to Rome, I had always stayed in the historic center, and I wondered how far away this would feel. You can map the distance, and if you want to walk out the door and be yards from the Pantheon, this isn't for you. Otherwise, it's a great choice. the neighborhood is pleasant and it's a nice bonus to see how normal, middle-class Romans live.
--space and amenities are great: This was the first time we had vacationed with a child (age 2), and we needed more space than the tiny hotel rooms you could get for the same price in Rome. It was great to have two rooms, a fridge, and a stove. (And the bed is super comfy, and the sleeper couch quite good for sleeper couch.) For us, $200/night is not cheap -- but that's what a decent hotel room (let alone a suite) in Rome costs, and this was worth every penny.
--service is amazing, from reservation to checkout. This is a pretty new hotel, and Sam and Kate put in the tremendous effort that one sees in other successful startup businesses -- which benefits those of us lucky enough to stay with them now. (Most people couldn't provide this level of service, and it's hard to imagine anyone maintaining it for decades -- although maybe they can.) Sam and Kate are completely lovely people -- rays of sunshine who I wish we had as neighbors and friends at home.

My wife and I just spent three great nights in these apartments while on our honeymoon and we can't say enough good things about the aurelia Vatican apartments. Recent reviews are bang on. What you are getting is a private, clean and well furnished apartment away from the tourist center. However, it is only a short walk to the nearby metro (10 min max) or there's a bus that comes right outside your door that can take you either to the city center or the metro. To give you an idea, within 25 minutes of leaving the apartment we were at the Spanish Steps, and about a 20 minute walk to the Vatican.
The staff, mainly Kate and Sam, are fantastic also and helped make our stay so enjoyable. Even though this isn't a hotel, we got better service than most hotels offer. Prior to our arrival Sam was great in arranging for transport from the train station. Upon check-in, Kate came to our room to tell us about places they recommend to eat, suggested itinerary, and virtually any other information a tourist would want... and they provide a pamphlet that has all this info too. The restaurant reviews were great, and it's nice when locals tell you where they like to eat.
I have been to Rome before and I know that you could end up paying a lot of money for nothing special in the center of town. Unless you absolutely need to be right in the city center, there is no reason not to stay in this quiet residential neighborhood that is still close enough to all the action. And trust me, Rome is such a busy place that you will enjoy some peacefulness in these apartments.
Great stay and hope to be back soon! -

Apartment was great, - clean, quiet, spacious and modern. Sam is a superb host. Upon arrival he explained what we could find in the neighborhood and he gave us a thorough introduction to what to see and do in Rome. The apartments are 12-15 minutes brisk walk from the nearest metro station Valle aurelia. From this station there are 2 stops to the Vatican and 5 to the Spanish Steps. Metro is quick, crowded and has frequent departures. So if you prefer staying away from the hustle and bustle in central Rome, we greatly recommend this place. In less than 30 minutes from the time you leave the apartment, you can be at the Spanish Steps.

We enjoyed the aurelia Vatican apartments so much! I really am not sure where to begin. When we arrived we were tired and early..Our apartment was ready and Kate was waiting ready to meet us. She promptly took us up to our new home away from home and gave us all the needed tips, maps, directions, shopping destinations, restaurant recommendations..Really I could go on and on but I won't bore you.. The apartment was fabulous. We had a one bedroom with a pull out couch in the living area. The beds were so comfy, even the pullout. Never did we have a bad night there. What about noise you ask? None. And yes we were in Rome. The location of this place is phenomenal. The bus comes right to the apartment driveway. This will take you to the metro and from there for just small change you can go all over Rome. You can also walk to the Metro which we always did. It is a little walk but so pleasant and very doable. My husband was on crutches with a broken foot if that tells you anything. Also within walking distance is a nice neighborhood grocery store and there are plenty of restaurants. These are local restaurants mind you. This is a real neighborhood not a tourist trap. When we travel back to Rome we will absolutely stay at this complex.. Everything about it is so comfortable and easy. That is a plus when traveling with small children in a (for us) foreign country..One other treasure that I must mention is the Sam and Kate team. They are just so great. We really grew attached to them while we were there. They both speak English and are so warm and friendly. Sam is always ready to help with any problem or question you might have..Kate is truly gifted with hospitality..These two are such a delight..All in all our trip to Rome was the trip of a lifetime and so much of it's success had to do with this complex..We have already given many of our friends information about this place and absolutely cannot wait to go back ourselves..

Even if (like us) you're not big on intrusive hosts (like in some B&Bs) or fake cheerful personalities, you'll love them. They take their cues from you about how much you want to tap their expertise about Rome or tell them about your day. I’ve never felt as warmly toward the proprietors of any place I’ve stayed, anywhere.

We stayed here for one week in May. Sam, the owner, was very helpful on the phone before we even left home. Then on arrival, he not only collected us from the metro (even though we arrived rather late in the evening) but he also spent a full hour giving us advice on what to see and do. This was fantastic, really helpful and a great start to our week.
The apartment was like a palace! Between the gorgeous accomodation and the friendly staff, we really could not recommend the aurelia Vatican apartments highly enough. They're in a lovely quiet area so not the most central, but very accessible by public transport so this was no problem.
If we're ever lucky enough to come to Rome again we will certainly stay here. And we will definitely recommend these apartments to any friends. Wonderful place! -

Sam was an excellent host who guided us virtually through Rome. He made the stay worthwhile.
We wanted to rent the appartment with a family of 6, it was ok but not very comfortable because it was meant for 5. (own fault...) Appartment more suitable for couples.
Kitchen a bit too small, few cleaning utensils.
In the beginning of the stay a lot of constructionwork going on next door, noise stopped after complaining. -

We stayed at aurelian Vatican apartments both for business and pleasure. The apartments were in between the congreshotel my husband had to go to and the citycenter. It was easy reach the citycenter by bus and metro.
I can agree with all the other reviews. The apartments have everything you need. Some apartments have a separate bedroom, others don't but have a very large balcony. Sam and Kate are very helpfull and had very good suggestions for restaurants in the city center and in the neighbourhood. You can rely on their advice.
There is a supermarket around the corner which is very convenient.
We should stay again at aurelia Vatican apartments if we should visit Rome again.

Left on 06/01/2010 for a stay in December 2009
I lived in Rome for almost 3 years and I know how hard it is to find a nice apartment with an appropriate price. I kept changing apartments as non of them fulfilled my requirements. Eventually I found and moved to aurelia Vatican apartments, where I stayed for almost 1,5 years. Fistly I want to point out the advantage of having an amazing staff (+ they are from australia, therefore speak english, which is not very common in italy). Whenever you need help or advide do not hesitate to go and talk to them. Secondly, everything that you need for an apartment (TV, furniture, plates, towels etc) is provided to you by them and you do not need to spend any money to aquire them urself. Thirdly, you can always park your car in front of the building for free. That's a huge advantage of aurelia Vatican apartments as usually finding parking in Rome is just a big hassle. And finally, whenever you need to take a time off and relax you have the opportunity to just sit on the terrace, sunbathe, make BBQ and enjoy the beutiful nature around you but at the same time being just 10 min drive away from the center. In order to have a nice holiday or long term stay in Rome I would definitely recommend you to choose aurelia Vatican apartments as a place to stay.

Left on 05/31/2010 for a stay in April 2010
We stayed at the fabulous aurelia Vatican apartments for 5 nights. Our stay was originally planned to be for only 2 nights, but owing to the volcanic ash episode this was stretched to 5. In what could have been a terribly anxious time (father-in-law rushed to hospital back in UK, son needing to be back for exams), Sam and Kate, the owners of the apartments, could not have been more reassuring and went out of their way to help us. They are a truly special couple who really invest a lot of time and effort in ensuring that their guests have a wonderful, memorable stay in Rome.
The apartments themselves were superb...stylish, spotless, quiet and fully equipped. They are situated near a Metro station, and we enjoyed the freedom of being able to nip quickly into the hubbub of Rome, escaping to the peace and quiet of the apartments at night. The best!

Left on 05/18/2010 for a stay in April 2010
My husband and I took our first trip to Rome in April 2010. We decided we
wanted to stay in an apartment rather than hotel and wanted to use the
buses and trains to get around so that we would feel less like a tourist.
Actually it turned out staying in an apartment is also a lot less expensive.
We chose Aurelia after reading all the great reviews on Trip Advisor and I
loved the fact that the manager- Sam spoke english since we would not be
at a large hotel. We actually were to arrive on Wednesday but missed our
flight and I called and told him we would not be there until Sunday. He set
up transportation and when we arrived tired and after a two hour flight
delay- his girlfriend- Kate met us at the gate and was an angel. Now let
me say driving up to it I became apprehensive because some parts of the
surrounding building desperately need revitalization (which Sam and his
family are actually doing). However, once I went through the gate the place
was beautiful with charming balconies overlooking a courtyard with a
fountain. Kate gave us a map, tons of recommendations and told us how to
use the Metro. Warning- be prepared to walk! The bus stop is less than 5
minutes away and the train station is 10-15 min away. We usually caught
the train (more dependable) and grew to love the walk. The neighborhood
is NOT touristy and therefore most local businesses speak little english but
it was no problem and we loved coming there at the end of a day where it
was so quiet and peaceful and definitely safe (we often walked at night).
The apartment is modern and clean with free wifi and great owners. They
didnt even charge me for the first night when we missed our flight (though
they could have according to their policies). One night I was trying to
convey I wanted my steak well done to an Italian waiter and finally called
Sam on his cell and he gave me the translation (thanks Sam!!). They are
great people and I highly recommend staying there. -

Aurelia Vatican Apartments is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting Rome. Sam goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. This was our first visit to Rome. Sam arranged us to be picked up from the airport, taken back to the airport, and met us upon arrival. Sam also sat down with us for an hour and a half showing us his suggestions for places to eat, things to see, and the best times to go see those places. He was extremely helpful.
The apartment was spacious, clean, and very up to date. The apartment is centrally located in Rome. It is within a 10 minute walk to the "Valle Aurelia" metro station. The metro stop is one stop away from the Vatican City and a 10-15 minute ride to ancient Rome. The one downside to this apartment is the walk from the bus/metro stop to the Apartments. There is alot of overgrowth of weeds along the walk and generally doesn't look like the safest place. I wouldn't recommend a woman to make the walk alone at night, but with myself, my wife, and my brother, we never felt unsafe.
Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay with your family on a visit to Rome. Sam is extremely helpful and a pleasure. We highly recommend. -

Left on 05/12/2010 for a stay in April 2010
My husband, two children and I recently returned from a family vacation to Italy where I was fortunate enough to experience the pleasure of staying in the Aurelia Vatican Apartments. These apartments allowed us to enjoy some privacy and quiet time whilst being in close proximity to supermarkets, restaurants, cafe’s, chemists and a bank. It is also conveniently situated just minutes from the metro and bus stop which made it easy for us to travel around Rome The location of these apartments truly allowed us to experience the best of both worlds. It was almost as if we had our own little piece of paradise and then in only minutes could be in the centre of Rome.
My children particularly enjoyed the apartments because it gave them the space and freedom to go outside to play and kick a ball around. This was particularly important to them because they were a little sick of being confined to hotel rooms and busy streets which was the case in most of the other hotels we stayed in during our trip.
Above all else I was extremely impressed with the service of all staff members I encountered. Nothing was ever a bother. They were all very welcoming, friendly and very approachable.
Being a foreigner and having basically no idea where to go and what to do outside of the main tourist attractions, I found their staff members to be particularly helpful. They suggested many places to see, things to do and delicious restaurants to eat at! Their help allowed me to experience a side of Rome that I don’t think I would have had the opportunity to enjoy without their guidance.
We are already saving for our next trip back to the Aurelia Vatican Apartments!!

After scouring the internet for weeks, and reading endless reviews, I came across the Aurelia Vatican Apartments- and booked.
Apartments - clean, comfortable, well-equipped, with everything needed.
Location, although not central, was only a short two stops from the Vatican on the metro, and from there easy to get to other parts of Rome. It was also close enough to be able to go back to the apartment for a rest during the day, and back in at night.
There's not a lot to do in the immediate vacinity, but there are a couple of supermarkets for buying food etc.
Sam (the australian owner) was very helpful, giving us information on travel, sights etc. There were a couple of houses in the immediate area which he was renovating while we were there, so there was some noise during the day, but since we were out most of the time this was not a problem.
Overall, a good value, comfortable, friendly place to stay - and Rome is Brilliant!!! I'll be back ASAP! -

We had a 4day break to Rome,to celebrate our daughter's 21st and as a Spring city break, staying at Aurelia Vatican Apartments from April 6-10.
From our initial welcome to our 'sorry'departure, the owners were brilliant hosts, very friendly and informative, with no request for info.too much trouble.
The apartments have been beautifully renovated, real Italian courtyard, peaceful atmosphere, with all modern, comfortable interiors - our two 'teenagers shared the twin bedroom(as they sleep later than us in the mornings!), we took the comfy, sofa bed, even got an extra duvet when my husband said thought he'd be 'chilly' at night!
A stylish bathroom with excellent shower, bidet, etc,,is a good size for 4, even came complete with shower gel and shampoo!(nice touch!).
The kitchenette, part of the studio-living area, has everything needed for a short break - we did our own breakfasts and picnic lunches, then ate outlocally in the evenings,(followed owner's local recommendations - go very hungry to La Piemontese, the courses never stop!)Has a great-sized fridge/freezer for all those cold beers!
Great situation, just a 1euro metro ride out of the city, relaxing to leave it behind after a busy day sightseeing!Only so many antiquities you can do/see/feel in a day!
We'll definitely be back to stay here - maybe when the adjacent pool is finished. Thank you Sam and Kate.Response from Sam De Girolamo - AURELIA VATICAN APARTMENTS - 05/05/2010

From the moment we arrived at the airport, Sam and Kate had us totally

On our arrival Kate came out to greet us personally and, despite it being
rather late due to the airport delays, took plenty of time to get s familiar
with everything, even going in depth into how we could get around.
The pack in the room is brilliant with some excellent suggestions and maps

The apartment itself was fantastic and the surrounding area was very close

A beautiful place with a great welcome. Although a little way out do not be put off it is definately worth it. After a long day out seeing amazing Rome it was great to come back to what felt like a home from home. The rooms are airy, bright and spacious with all you need for snacks or full scale meals. Local transport was great except for late at night. Also beware of strikes arranged at the last minute. Maybe that was just a one off. I would come back in an instant. We took my partners 80 year old parents who absolutely loved it. Make sure you buy a week travel ticket....works out really cheap. The supermarket just up the road is great. Sam was really helpful and friendly.
The apartments were very clean, spacious and modern.
The location was good as walking distance to metro and local sites.
Also useful as we had a car was the parking facilities.
We used kitchen to cook. Only things missing were some salt and pepper. which would have been handy and some washing up liquid.
The shower was great! Nice strong pressure.
Wifi connection also came in handy.
The beds were ok but a double bed would be more comfortable as opposed to 2 singles pushed together.
The pizzeria down the road that Sam recommended came in handy. Think we ate there everyday.
The balcony overlooking the courtyard was also nice.
Overall very pleasant.

We spent 7 nights here our first time in Rome.We travelled on a late flight from Scotland to Ciampino arriving at the appartments by taxi(which Sam arranged for us) at about 10pm.Sam is a great guy (the name De Girolamo belies his Australian origins)and he was there to welcome us and spent time giving us all the information we 'Rome Rookies'needed before chauffeuring us into Aurelia to grab a pizza and wine before the restaurant closed.A nice touch for the future might the provision of a welcome pack for late arrivalsThe appartments are true to the photographs-brand new, spacious and fully equipped. The area is so quiet at night only the occassional dog barking in the distance and the nearby church bells on Sunday morning-delightful.The local shops and supermarkets in Aurelia have everything needed for self-catering.The bus service is virtually door to door from the appartment to supermarket and metro.A 7 day integrated transport pass giving unlimited travel on bus, metro and tram costs only 16 euros! This has to be the best bargain in Rome! The De Girolamo family are working very hard to regenerate an ancient area of Rome, their vision for the future to create a top class complex of villas, appartments ,pools and leisure facilities. The 'Round House' villa next door to Aurelia appartments was nearing completion and we look forward to a return visit to stay in this property.

My partner and i stayed at the Vatican Apartments at the end of February
2010.It was our first time in Rome so we were expecting something quite
close to the Vatican but the apartments are nowhere near as close as we
thought. They are in a residential area about 10 minutes away from the
Metro. You then have two stops to the stop where you have to get off for the
Vatican .The surroundings are not great. There is undeveloped land just in
front of the apartments and some building work going on adjacent to it.
You can walk to the shops, about 5 minutes which is okay.
The rooms are clean but look empty .There is no microwave - which was a
minus for us.
No cable so the only English channel was BBC world, again another
negative.
Katie was however very helpful in telling us about the area and what we
could do.
Would i stay there again, probably not and thats because of the issue of
lack of cable + no microwave + surroundings .Otherwise the place is clean . -

Our stay at the Aurelia Vatican was just fantastic and one I thoroughly recommend. My family and I have made numerous trips to Rome over the last decade and have always felt short-changed in our past hotel choices. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the owner who made us feel very welcome for the entire stay.
We were impressed with the spacious rooms and the modern amenities in the complex. Travelling with kids is not easy but this place caters well for families. Also, we had a supermarket within five minutes walk which enabled us to use the modern kitchen and keep our food bills down whcih can get expensive when feeding a whole family in Rome!
Overall, this place gave us great service and very comfortable living so close the heart of Rome. We will definitely be staying here in our next visits to Rome. Well done and look forward to coming back.

We stayed at Aurelia Vatican Apartments for 5 nights. What a beautiful building, even better in real life than in the photos, it felt like we were staying in a real Roman villa. The apartments are brand new, clean and very comfortable. The kitchens have almost all the equipment you need so we could cook a meal if we didn't feel like eating out.
The owner (Sam) was extremely helpful and patient with us as we didn't know Rome very well. He provided us with all the information we needed. He also organised a private driver to pick us up at the airport which was a relief after our long flight.
The area is very quiet, which was nice to come home to after a big day out on the busy streets of Rome. There are supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, shops etc. within walking distance to the apartments. There are a couple of run down buildings on the street walking to and from the apartments, but it is safe to walk at night.
We took the metro into town everyday, which was about a 10 minute walk from the apartments. There is also a bus that goes into town which stops right outside the apartment. We took a taxi home a couple of time which cost less than 10 Euros each time.
I will definitely stay here again if I ever return to Rome, great value for money. Thank you! -

These family run apartments are simply brilliant. Clean, tidy, new, aesthetical and polished off with brilliant hospitality which makes this a perfect place to stay.
Location location location...
Close to Organic food at the local supermarket, public transport, cafes, park, market, airport easily accessible, I would HAPPILY brave the Rome traffic and drive from the airport, as it's only about 4 turns from the airport! Close enough so that I could even go for a run to the vatican and back, and I have to admit loving running through St Peter's Square at 6.00am and having the whole square to myself, well that's how it seemed to me. I really felt a special energy that I will cherish.
Being a single mum travelling around Italy for 7 weeks with my 9 year old son was an interesting experience. I have to admit I was spoilt by going to Aurelia Vatican apartments first. The other places where I stayed pailed in comparison.
I have recommeded it to all my friends already!
I am looking forward to returning there again.
You will understand what I mean when you get there... I feel this could be very addictive! I'm already trying thinking how to get back over there in the near future!

My wife, my daughter and I spent 3 days at the Aurelia Vatican during the last New Years holidays.
The place is very nice, accomodates easily a family of 4, equipped kitchen and location is great.
The apartment is located 3 blocks from the subway, so if you have a car you can leave there or at a free parking one block away from the station. Use subway to go every where in Rome and Vatican.
Sam, the owner, is a fantastic guy. He not only give you maps and information about Rome but also a little "history lesson" and some nice tips from the locals. he surely make you feel welcome.
I definetely recommend Aurelia Vatican ! Ciao ! -

My family and I enjoyed a great holiday in rome. These apartments are first class. Sam greeted us and showed to our apartment and then gave us an introduction to Rome, Shwoing us on a map the best way to tackle Rome. This was great for us as we hadn't been to Rome before.
The Apartments are close to a supermarket and restuarant and the nearest metro station is a 5 min walk away.
Our apartment was furnished to a high standard with a high chair and cot provided for out young son.
I have/would highly recommend these apartments to anyone wanting to visit Rome. We will definatly be back! -

My Husband, 1 year old boy, and myself stayed at the Aurelia apartment for 6 days in early November
Our host, Sam, met us a couple minutes after we arrived and was very helpful in explaining the amenities of the apartment and providing dining suggestions.
The location of the apartment is wonderful. It's an easy 5 min walk to the Metro that will take you to the Vatican in 5 minutes and all the major sites in Rome. Although there are a few run down buildings, walking to and from the apartments, it is exremely safe to walk at night, which gives you peace of mind especially when you have a young family. There is also a large grocery store nearby which was very convenient.
There were a lot of apartment amenities but the only ones we really used were the fridge, kitchen and the washing machines. We did not watch much tv but there were a lot of channels available. Wireless internet access was easy to use, as was the air conditioning.
The apartments are brand new, clean and very comfortable. I was suprised as to how comfortable the beds were and they even have ergnomic pillows which for me was a god send.
The apartment is a perfect option for a family as the hotel rooms in Rome are small, expensive and generally are not ideal for a young family. We would have to have taken a hotel room for probably twice what we paid for this fantastic, spacious apartment. It was a great deal.
Overall, the apartment is a wonderful place to stay in Rome and I would definately stay there again if we go back.

We recently stayed at Aurelia Vatican Apartments and had a great stay.
Sam, met us a couple minutes after we arrived and was very helpful in explaining the amenities of the apartment, things to see and do as well as dining suggestions.
There were a lot of apartment amenities avaialable. including, Flat screen TV, air- conditioning, Internet, Laudry facilities. But best of all there was a fully equipped kitchen, which was great for me and my family. Having a Supermarket within walking distance allowed us to cook some meals at the apartments. This not only saved us a heap of money (as eating out in Rome is not Cheap..!!) but made our whole family feel really at home.
The location of the apartment is quiet and safe. It's an easy 5 min walk to the Metro that will take you to all the tourist spots. Just 1 metro stop from the Vatican. It takes about 3 minutes between the Metro stops. The Metro is the easiest and best way to get around Rome.
The apartment is a perfect option for a family as the hotel rooms in Rome are small, expensive and generally are not ideal for a young family.
We would have to have taken a hotel room for probably more money but less space and no cooking facilities.
The apartments are brand new, clean and very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and they even have ergnomic pillows.
Overall, the apartment is a wonderful place to stay in Rome and I would definately stay there again and recommend others to do so..!!

We recently stayed at the Aurelia Vatican Apartments during our family holiday to Rome.
I would definitely recommend staying in one of these modern and luxurious apartments.
The service was fantastic, the staff spoke fluent English, they were always helpful and polite. Sam was great, spending time with us when we arrived to explain the culture and history of Rome and even planned an itinerary for our stay while we were in Rome.
The Apartments are clean and modern, with elegant furnishings. The air conditioning worked well as did the LCD TV and the wireless internet was really fast
The fact that there is a fully equipped kitchen was great, as we where able to really feel at home, not to mention that cooking meals saved our family a fortune on food.
The apartments are located in a quiet and safe neighborhood, within walking distance to public transport (Metro & Bus), supermarkets, restaurants ans cafe's.
We will definately be comming back to stay at Aurelia Vatican Apartments... thanks for making our whole family feel so welcome... it really made our holiday a memorable one!
Would recommend others to stay at Aurelia Vatican Apartments...!!!!
