Additional Location Information
Piazza Navona, a jewel of the Baroque art, is one of the most beautiful squares in Rome.
Its stretched shape from North to South comes from the Stadium of Domiziano, which was built there in 86 A.C. and had a 275 meters lenght and a 105 meters width.
The square is decorated with 3 fountains, and the "Acqua vergine", discovered by the Roman Emperor Agrippa in 19 B.C. near "Salone", gushes out from them.
At the center of the square the "Fontana dei Fiumi", realised in 1651 by world known sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

What Past Guests Are Saying
The Centro Storico area is the only place to stay at in Rome.
Leaving from Rome Termini station to find the agents location to get the keys and then travel to the apartment was a bit of a struggle for 4 people with bags. You will need to get a taxi to the agency and then to the apartment. The agent was very efficient, with good English and provided advice on the area we would be staying in which proved extremely helpful. The apartment would be difficult to find at first unless you know the area, with most maps being inadequate due to the maze of small streets, so definitely catch a taxi.. Once you arrive however it doesn't take long to get your bearings and it is a pleasure to walk through the neighbourhood which is mostly residential with many small shops, restaurants & bars. Butcher and small supermarket are within 100 meters.
The property itself, on the 1st level up from the ground, is spacious and quiet. There is no lift to the apartment. Kitchen/dining/lounge area are one room but have plenty of space to move and relax with ample cupboard and storage space throughout. Master bedroom and loft bedroom have Queen size beds and modern fittings. Note: The stairs to the loft bedroom are steep and not recommended for the elderly or small children. Having 2 toilets in the apartment was appreciated.
The apartment is within walking distance of many tourist sites including the Pantheon, Tiber river, Borghese gardens, Spanish steps, Piazza Navona, Trevi fountain and Castle Sant'Angelo.
The best thing about the apartment is the location. Being both near to many landmarks and far enough away to escape the crowds when a quiet meal or stroll was desired. The only downside was the distance to the underground rail which meant any excursions which required a trip on a train took extra time. If staying at the apartment for a week however, as we did, this was not a big concern as we organised our trips each day to visit places on route to the stations.
Note: Because the apartment is located in Rome's Centro Storico area, just outside of any major tourist area, many of the local shopkeepers have limited English. This should not be a concern to anybody wishing to stay at the Mirkos apartment as it was the friendliness and willingness to help of the locals that made our stay in Rome a very memorable one.
You could not ask for a more ideal location in Rome. Once we got our bearings, we realized just how central we were. All major attractions within walking distance. Most less than 10 minutes. The apartment is just as pictured and clean. The bedrooms are well apart from each other therefore providing privacy if you choose to travel with another couple or children. The bathrooms are small by North american standards but clean and modern. We never did get the wifi working but it was not important enough to us to make a call to sort it out.
Apartments in Rome are better than expensive Hotels
This was the first time we rented an apartment as we usually go in hotels. We were two couples and found this 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms apartments on web. The price was almost the same of a double bedroom in a centrally located Hotel in Rome. But as we were 2 couples we should have booked 2 double rooms and therefore we would have ended up by paying the double. In fact we were a bit nervous before going to Rome as we were worried that such bargain price would bring us unpleasant surprises. But when we finally arrived at the apartment and inspected it carefully we relaxed as everything was as described and as promised: all the amenities were in good working order, the apartment was immaculate and when we entered we felt a pleasant smell, the one you can feel when a place has been cleaned with good quality detergents. Also the furniture of the apartment looked good and we noticed that it had been chosen with some taste. The agency was very easy to deal with and very responsive at every stage of our booking process and of our stay.
The apartment was OK, but nothing special. We made a phone call to the check in to ask for new bulps as some was broken and also some wine glasses as there was too few. We never got these delivered and the service was not very friendly.
