Middleton, WIGreat apartment, so-so neighborhood
Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012
The apartment is really nice - nicely furnished, spacious, many amenities. If you rent this apartment, you should be aware that although it is convenient to the train station (and there is a metro station close by) it's not convenient to a lot of Rome sites. You will get a work out over the course of a few days if you decide to walk to a lot of the tourist areas. Also the neighborhood could be described as very heavily Middle Eastern - there are many small Mid Eastern shops close by and many people gathering on the streets outside of the shops. We didn't have trouble with any of the people on the streets, we just felt a little out of place. There are some good restaurants within a 3-4 blook walk - but if you want to stay in a quaint area with interesting shops and restaurants close by - this probably isn't the right place for you. If you want to be close to Termini and enjoy a good walk, this could be a good fit. Again, the apartment itself is lovely - with washer and dryer, 2 bathrooms, airconditioning, fully equipped kitchen, nice living room, comfortable beds, etc. Although it was a nice place, it was a little pricey given its location.

This apartment was the first stop on our 12 day Italian vacation. There were 4 people in our party, two adults, two seniors. The apartment was a good size, enough room for all of us. We did not spend much time there but we had a problem with one of the showers. We brought it to the attention of the local agent but either she didn't get the message timely or just couldn't reach anyone to assist with the issue. The other bathroom had a leaky sink faucet. One shower down for a 4 person party made it a little rough. Also, outside lighting eventually came on in the hall but we wish it had come on earlier. The area wasn't bad, busy each night and some of the cab drivers had difficulty finding the address. A hotel may have been easier for our short stay.

Unfortunately, there are time when something will break down and need to be replaced. At the time this happened my rental assistant was hospitalized and never received the message.
All has been repaired, even my assistant.

Copenhagen, DenmarkSo much better than a hotel room
Left on 03/09/2012 for a stay in February 2012
This apartment is so much better than the equally priced hotel room we considered. We traveled as a family of 4 (kids 10 and 7) and having the extra space and comfort really helped us relax after our long walks. I read the reviews before contacting Mary and everything said about her was absolutely true. She was highly communicative, helpful and responded promptly.
The apartment was nicely equipped and had everything except we needed. I even made an espresso with the macchinetta for the first time and promptly purchased one to take home because they are brilliant. By old Europe standards, the apartment was fantastic.
We opted to be picked up at the airport and Mary arranged a driver to pick us up in a van to carry all our luggage. By the end of the week we figured enough out to make our own way back to the airport.
Overall Rome was wonderful and made better -

I recently traveled through Italy with my husband and another couple. Rome was our first stop, and this apartment really set the bar for the rest of the trip. Not only is it clean and comfortable, but also in a perfect location for getting around Rome. It's a ten minute walk to the Colosseum, and five minutes to Roma Termini (the primary train station).
Another great feature was the well-equipped kitchen. We made breakfast for ourselves every morning and even cooked dinner one night.
I am so glad we decided to rent this apartment rather than stay in a hotel. It was so nice for the four of us to be able to hang out in the living room together in the evenings instead of being cooped up in a tiny hotel room. -

San Francisco, CAGreat apartment as base for visiting Rome
Left on 07/30/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This apartment was a great find for our visit. We are two adults and two teenagers; the apartment is well located with quick access to transportation (Metro, buses, street cars, Termini station), restaurants, cafes, a grocery store, phone store and other shops, a market for fresh produce, fish, bread, meat, cheese, etc. The aptmt. is very well furnished and feels like a home, not a vacation rental. The owner provides an information packet with excellent suggestions for sightseeing, transportation and restaurants. None of those recommendations disappointed; for example, one of those suggestions was for Pasticceria Regoli, which we gladly visited each morning. A local customer we met there told us it is Rome's best pastry shop. We appreciated the apartment's large, well-stocked kitchen with washer and dryer, the amount of space, internet access, lack of street noise, and the air conditioning during hot summer weather. We would gladly return.

We needed two bedrooms for two couples and this charming apartment fit the bill with the additional luxury of separate bathrooms. We loved shopping at the nearby Esquilino farmer's market full of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and seafood. Easy access to the supermarkets in the Termini Station as well. The owner provided us with great recommendations for local restaurants and the metro is within easy reach. A great place to relax in after a full day of sight seeing in Rome in a quiet residential area. We highly recommend this apartment for your next stay in Rome.

Left on 05/19/2011 for a stay in September 2010
I searched on many sites for a 2 bedroom/2bath unit for 2 couples on many sites. When I found this one it was the jackpot, the owner lives in Chicago as we do so that was a pleasant surprise. The unit was well stocked, clean, spacious, washer/dryer (unheard of in rentals in Rome), dishwasher, everything + the owner got us started with coffee, eggs etc in the fridge. Big market 1.5 blocks away, close to biggest train station, subway and buses, so very well located to everything. Train system is great.
Owner has a complete directory/book in unit that describes everything in unit along with restaurant, doctor, dentist info etc..great spot. After 5 great days in Rome we rented van drove to Tuscany to rented classic villa on hill for a week then one to Lake Como for 9 days at another fab villa right on the lake. Wonderful vacation, if you are looking for Tuscany (15 miles outside of Florence) villa or Lake Como let me know. -

Had a great stay at this apartment in late October 2010. Clean, comfortable and well equipped; felt right at home, most unlike generic serviced apartments. Good accessibility to main tourist sites, and right next to a metro station for destinations further north. Quite close to Termini station, but a good enough distance from the more seedy streets. Owner and assistants helpful and well informed. Pleased to recommend it to others, especially given some of the horror stories I read about accomodation in Rome!

Wonderful Stay in Roman Apt
Ausitn, TexasAll the creature comforts of home - Roman Style
Left on 10/24/2010 for a stay in October 2010
It was my first time to Rome and I wanted to stay in a space that I believed was representative of a Roman household and I can say that this apartment fit the bill. It is spacious, nicely decorated but with a comfy air, the design of the building gives it the Roman flavor, and although it is on the third floor there is an elevator which moves pretty quickly - which was used regularly by my 67yo mother and 8yo niece. The location is superb as it is within short walking distance to Termini Station which is the meeting point of the metro lines for Rome. I'm somewhat of a fitness fanatic and even after touring around all day I appreciated the fully equipped gym located at Termini Station. The immediate neighborhood is kinda "salt 'n pepper" and appears to be a melting pot of immigrant workers from around the world which was an initial concern but we had no problems during our stay. The owner is really good about providing pertinent information relating to your stay; she was always availabe for any concerns or questions and her assistant in Rome was very pleasant to deal with. Prior to Rome we had visited Paris, so I have to say the price for the apartment is quite reasonable for what you're getting. Mary, thank you for making your home available - we had a great time!

From booking the apartment to arriving, Mary was at hand via email or Martina to help with any questions and both were most prompt and helpful. On arrival at the airport, Martina had arranged a car for us and she was at the property with fresh milk and bread etc for our arrival in the early evening. Martina took us on a tour and explained how things worked. I won't list all the items in the apartment as the property description does that for you but everything and more than you need is in the apartment. We had tv for news, music to get ready to and a huge dining table to plan our daily excursions. The air con was a blessing, it was so humid in mid September that the floors and air con were ideal. The apartment is perfect, spacious and had a real Roman feel, the beds are comfy, everything is so clean.
The Termini station is a short walk away and the Spar handy for milk and snacks. We ate nearby in Pastarito and used other shops underneath the Termini and opposite. We booked this apartment due to its proximity to the Termini station. The station is very close, however to use the subway at the station took a fair bit of walking to get there, up and down and down and down and it was very hot down there so we chose to walk on the outside of the station until we got to the escalators to take you down to the shopping centre and followed the directions to the subway that way. Once we got our bearings, we could see how near some of the sites were and many are a nice walk, we walked to the Collisseum and on to the Spanish steps. The area around the apartment was a little daunting at first, men stood in groups on the street, but no one ever approached us and we recalled that this was also the case in Florence, perhaps due to the absence of gardens, the street is the place to congregate. We would highly recommend this property, thoroughly relaxing, easy to use and a nice haven on hot days. -

What a wonderful place to visit, full of history and the most beautiful art you could ever see. Everything about this trip was so amazing. The condo was located close to train and walking distance to may sites. The condo is decorated in very modern style with beautiful comfy queen size bed, the floors all magnificent marble, the kitchen very modern aluminum style appliances. I hope to be able to return in a few years.

San FranciscoI had a great 50th birthday celebration!!
Left on 04/08/2010 for a stay in October 2009
My husband and two of my sisters decided to rent an apartment for 2 weeks in Rome for my 50th birthday and when we found this property we knew we had the right fit. Mary Matteis was very helpful and professional during the process of reserving the apartment and her son was prompt and friendly when meeting us and letting us into the property.
The apartment had all the amenities we needed for cooking, washing our clothes, linens, etc. and there was air conditioning that worked very well. It would have be helpful to us, however, if there was instructions about the dryer. We didn't realize we needed to empty a water reservoir that collects water as the clothes are drying since it does not have a vent. Maybe we are just dense, but we had never seen a dryer like this before and could have used a little help. Also, the trash was not as self explanatory as we assumed and perhaps a word or two on trash/recycling disposal would be helpful as well. The material left about the surrounding restaurants, bakeries, etc. was helpful and we definitely used that information.
The location of the apartment was ideal for us. We were able to take the high speed train to and from the airport and walk the two blocks to the apartment. Also, we took two day trips (high speed train to Florence and train to Orvieto) so having the station so close was extremely convenient. Plus, we used the subway located in the train station a lot as well.
One of the best things I loved about the location of the apartment was the huge market a block away. We found everything we could possibly want in that market from fresh seafood and meat to veggies and flowers. It was wonderful. I also highly recommend the nearby foccaciaria and fresh pasta shop near the park a short walk from the apartment. There is also a supermarket near by, two, in fact. One inside the train station and one further away but still within walking distance where we seemed to go every day for our big Peroni beers and bottles of wine. -

Upon arrival we easily found our way from the train station to this fabulous apartment. Mary Matteis helped to make our stay run smoothly. The apartment is large, comfortable, lovely and very clean. We walked from neighborhood to neighborhood and from site to site. It's a wonderful location and very easy to find ones way on foot as well as by public transportation. Great restaurants are to be found very close by as well easily accessible night spots. There is a cafe right up the block for espresso and other treats. We had such a great time we will definitely book this apartment again.

This is the perfect home base for your visit to Rome whether you’re there for a few days or an extended stay. It’s a spacious, elegant apartment that juxtaposes the latest amenities with Roman charm. Furnished with an eclectic mix of modern and antiques, the feel is gracious and comfortable. The kitchen is huge, with stainless steel appliances including washer and dryer. The subway and buses are convenient and everything—shopping, restaurants, etc.—is within walking distance. Around the corner is Rome’s largest open-air market with fresh produce and other yummy foods. Termini Station is a few blocks away. The owner is even easy to work with. You will love this place!

I loved our stay! We didn't feel like tourists, we felt like we belonged
there. We loved the location, we were able to buy fresh gorgeous
produce and all kinds of italian specialties at the wonderful market
around the corner. It's one of the biggest and best in Rome.
The metro, bus lines and train station are so close it was very easy to
get anywhere we wanted to go with ease. We even walked to many
places like the Coliseum.
The apartment was extremely well furnished and very comfortable .I
love to cook and the kitchen was great, nothing missing that I would
have wanted and 2 bathrooms was a real luxury!
I wanted to take the bed home with me! We loved our stay and are
planning to return next year. -

We were two couples that stayed in this beautifully decorated and furnhished spacious two bedroom apartment. It give us a favor of luxury living in Roma. Also wonderful and helpful was the informative notebook with all the detailed information for the apartment things and it included all the local places to eat and visit.
It provided a better insight and detail than our tour books.
The location was great for our touring needs in Italy. We love being so close to train terminal for outside of Rome excusions ( we went to cinqua terra and piedmont). The place was ideal for mass transit, you can walk to take the tour bus, or city buses and subway. There was never a problem getting taxi cabs. We love being there and defintely recommend it.
