The Vatican has been the residence of the Popes only since 1377. The Vatican has been an Independent state called The Vatican City since February 11, 1929. Michelangelo’s impressive silver-blue dome dominates the scenery, blending into the sky above. It’s always breathtaking to see the beauty of this magnificent site. It’s a middle class residential area full of souvenir shops, espresso bars and rustic restaurants. Even though attracts many tourists St Peter/Vatican, it’s still a quiet, settled peaceful area to come and visit.

One of the nicest experiences when booking a holiday rental

Left on 05/15/2013 for a stay in April 2013

The apartment we booked was exactly as described, spotlessly clean, every amenity we needed and more, Arrival went without a problem, someone there to meet us as advised.

The flat was in the best location, lovely cafes and restaurants within walking distance we were spoiled for choice, may have to go back as a week was not long enough to sample them all.

There was nothing not to like, looking forward to doing it all over again.

      Rome apartment-like home

Left on 12/13/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We are a family of 5 adults. We loved the apartment and the view of the Vatican and Saint Peters. The pictures on the web sites are accurate. The apartment was comfortable and roomy. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. There were only 2 drawbacks. My husband and sons are all over 6 feet tall, and they were longer than the beds. The bar on the corner was very noisy at night. The arrangements made from the airport to the apartment was wonderful. The driver told us of many places to eat and see. The gentleman that met us at the apartment was very helpful. He had maps for us as well as where local grocery and shops were located. Traveling around the city was easy, taxi stand and buses around the corner, and the underground a couple of blocks away. We would stay there again.

Thanks Karen for your positive feedback and tips. Beds in our apartments are standard italian size (what you'll find in almost 95% of Rome accommodations) I see you and your family are pretty tall, we recommend to ask in advance for any specific requirements (i.e. special bed sizes). I'm glad you've enjoyed your stay! Tiziana

Excellent apartment right next to Vatican City.

Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed at Risorgimento in early august with our 3 teenagers and my husband and I. Our priority was visiting the Vatican, and we could see St Peter's dome out the window, excellent! Walked around the corner to the Vatican Museums for a tour that we had prebooked, very easy and convenient, wonderful to go to Mass at the Basilica! The apartment is bright, open, with lots of space and very lovely and an excellent kitchen and washing machine and sleeping facilities, excellent aC. Our children adored it! Little markets and restaurants all within the same one or two blocks. Not to mention on top of a great Gelato store, so gelato was a treat every day when we could see that the huge line for the store had died down! We were given excellent instructions to arrive at the apartment by subway from Roma Termini and were in close correspondence by cell phone while on the train, with Julia our greeter and helper, to get the keys to the apartment on our arrival. Instant teller at the bank around the corner, which Julia, who was very pleasant and helpful, walked us to, as we needed to get cash for our payment upon arrival in Rome. Buses are literally minutes away by foot, and subway station around the corner. One can use stairs or use a lift to get up to the apartment. I have a problem with my leg and appreciated the lift! Even though our priority was to visit the Vatican, it was very easy to see all the sights using public transit that was close to this excellent apartment. My only criticism is that one of the bathrooms had an unpleasant smell for the duration of our stay, perhaps backed up drainage?? We kept the door shut to block out the smell, and did not use that room! But both bathrooms were clean, in good condition, and overall we would definitely book this apartment again on our next stay in Rome. Thank you for a great experience...our family ended our trip in Rome, and we have absolutely beautiful memories of these final few days of our trip!

Everything was great. We loved the location-it was pretty precious to be able to look out the window and see the Vatican. The famous gelato shop and numerous shops and restaurants in the area made it perfect. The apartment is very spacious, nicely furnished, kitchen well stocked and clean. My only concern was when my husband and I loss the toss and slept on the twin beds. We found them to be quite hard. Us Canadians like our pillow top beds.
We appreciated the introduction to the apartment, kindness in recommending restaurants and in arranging the van pickup for the airport. Everything ran like clockwork. We will highly recommend this to our friends and relatives.

Left on 10/25/2012 for a stay in June 2012

we loved our stay at our apartment, it is across the street from the walls of the Vatican, We were there in June and watched the Eurocup on while looking at the St Peters Dome it is that close. we were able to walk to St. Peters square in the evening just because it was around the corner. The apartment is big and well quipped. From the Train station it was 10-15 euro by taxi, and was easy to grab a cab at any time to quickly traverse Rome at any time of the day. the Gelato is superb and we look forward to returning for our next visit to Rome.

Cosy place over the best gelati shop

Left on 10/21/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We stayed for 5 nights and really enjoyed the lovely apartment.
It had all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The Carrefour supermarket was only 2 blocks away and the kitchen was well equipped - we cooked almost everyday. The living room was huge with views of the St. Peter's dome - beautiful ! Being so close to the vatican we managed to be there early and beat the crowds . The washing machine and dishwasher did come in handy. The Risorgimento square is well connected by bus to most places of interest - this was useful as we had two young kids who did not like the 7 min walk to the station !! But the best thing about the place was the old bridge gelati shop just next door - we had gelati going in and out of the apartment everyday !

      Rome Visit

Left on 10/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012

The Key to Italy did a great job in helping me find an apartment in Rome and met us at the apartment when we arrived. They also set up a private taxi to pick us up at the airport upon arrival, which was a perfect solution to someone unfamiliar in Rome. Apartment Risorgimento was perfect for our family of 5, in a perfect area close to the Vatican, and within walking distance to the Metro which we could take anywhere we wanted to visit. We enjoyed dinners in the local restaurants, and especially the gelato at the Old Bridge Gelato shop. We enjoyed all the sites but especially attending the Papal audience, visiting the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica, and the Necropolis Tour. I would recommend The Key to Italy to anyone looking for a place to stay in Rome. We didn't like the traffic and congestion, but other than that, we had a great stay in Rome.

Dream trip to Rome in ideal location overlooking the Vatican

Left on 07/17/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We were met at our apartment by a representative of the Key to Italy. He explained everything and then we were off to lunch and sightseeing. His recommendation for lunch was awesome and this was the perfect spot for our 2 day visit to this amazing city. We were able to sleep in the following day after flying from the us and were just where we needed to be to go for our tours of the Vatican museum and St Peters. There was a grocery close by which we were directed to so we were able to save some by eating in one night and just enjoy the spectacular view of the Vatican at night. Gelato right below was amazing. We also took advantage of the driver from the airport. Least would be the stairs with luggage but that is pretty much because as americans we overpack and stairs is part of Europe so not big deal! Would definitely stay there again and have recommended it to others already!

This apartment was the perfect size for my husband and I and 2 adult daughters. The pictures of the apartment are completely accurate. It is large, comfortable, clean and everything works. The location was ideal as it is very near to the Vatican and Vatican Museum, several shops, and restaurants ( our favorite was Renovatio La Soffitta which is on nearby Piazza Risorgimento)and is also close to many modes of transportation. The apartment is next door to the best gelato shop in Rome. We felt safe in the apartment and in the neighborhood at all times. We also used the car service from and to the airport which was a pleasure. Giovanni was at the apartment when we arrived and had many helpful tips for us.

Left on 05/20/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Giovanni was waiting for us on arrival and he gave good advice about the surrounding areas near the apartment. The size of the apartment was good and with a little child around, the extra space in the living area was useful compared to the constraints of a hotel room. The apartment was clean but I felt that the cooker was a little old. Overall, it was a good and homely stay, but I wished Giovanni would help us with our luggage as well. : )

      Fabulous Trip to Rome

Left on 04/11/2012 for a stay in March 2012

From our initial research to selecting a property, Giovanni with The Key To Italy was outstanding! Based on our criteria, he helped us to find a great rental near the Vatican. It was literally across from the Vatican wall and since we were on the fourth floor we looked right over the wall - with a glimpse of St. Peter's dome.
Upon check in Giovanni furnished us with detailed maps, a guidebook, and, most notably, some suggestions of local restaurants with great food, service and good value! (Our favorites were antica Griglia Toscana and Il Matriciano!)
The apartment was spacious and well appointed! We enjoyed the neighborhood and being within a few short blocks of the Metro train station!
Outstanding in every way, would recommend to anyone!

Spacious, comfortable apartment in ideal location

Left on 04/10/2012 for a stay in April 2012

You couldn't get any closer to the Vatican without staying inside its walls. This apartment is ideal for seeing Vatican City and ancient Rome, with convenient access to the subway two blocks away. Giovanni was very helpful welcoming us and showing us around, scheduling so he could be present at our arrival, and arranging for very early morning return transportation to the airport for us. He also gave us a recommendation for a very good restaurant closeby (Antica Griglia Toscana) where we went for our last dinner in Rome. Highly recommended. Giovanni gets 5 stars!

The apartment is well equipped and the sitting/dining room area is very large and open. The WiFi was a nice touch and the beds very comfortable. The first floor of the building housed what appeared to be the most popular gelateria in all of Rome - there was a line there all day long and into the night. We stopped in there a couple of times and it was worth doing.

The only reason this rating is 4 stars instead of 5 is that there were a couple of issues with electricity when we stayed. Using the clothes washer or a hair dryer would trip the circuit breaker, and getting everything back online wasn't always straightforward. If the manager is able to get that issue addressed, I wouldn't hesitate to award 5 stars.

Great view of the Vatican, and easy location for a visit to Rome

Left on 03/12/2012 for a stay in March 2012

At the suggestion of friends who stayed here last summer, we stayed in Mar 2012 for 4 nites. We really loved it! The high ceilings and bright spaces were very welcoming. The view from the living room of St. peter's was great. And the Gelato shop on the ground floor was delicious. The kitchen had everything we needed, laundry worked great. For 2 couples, it was a terrific apartment.

We found all the shops and markets we needed in the neighborhood. Fruit stands, bakeries, wine bars, pizza, all within a couple blocks. Metro was close, and all felt relatively safe (it is a big city, after all.) walking 5 ,inured from the front door to St. peter's square was amazing. We walked as far as Trastevere one night (might have been a little much) but truly everything is within a reasonable reach!!!

This is a great base from which to see the city!

Also - we took advantage of their offer to arrange a car from the airport to the apartment. Do this! Way easy, totally safe and fairly priced. Driver was nice, Mercedes van hauled all of us right form the arrival doors to the apartment. No trains or pick-pockets or busses! Cost was only a small amount more than all the hassles of mass-transit, and much faster, easier!

Great! apt against Vatican Wall; 2 blocks to subway; no hassle m

Left on 01/20/2012 for a stay in October 2011

This was second time I rented through The Key to Italy. The first time was Venice, May 2010. The second was in Rome, Oct 2011.The Rome apt was on the 5th floor overlooking the Vatican, right against Vatican wall, high enough to look down into the Vatican. Giovanni, the booking rep., actually met us in person in Rome. I remembered him from the Venice booking. Nice courteous guy. Speaks English well. He was very responsive, emailing next day. A week before booking, he contacted me to ensure everything was ready. In Rome, the apt was very clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything to prepare and serve meals. Iron and ironing board. The front door's lock systems were more secure than my own home's. Felt very safe leaving laptop and passport in the locked apt. The two bathrooms were outstanding, newly remodeled, each had shower, and clean. In Rome, Giovanni gave us 2 sets of keys at no charge. Subway was 2 blocks away. Bus hub was half a block away. Taxi stand was half block away, which was helpful when we needed to get to the train station. Grocery -1 block. Walking to central Rome was 20 min - Rome for us was about walking. I visited Rome with a married couple. The apt was roomy and large enough to allow all of us to feel that we had enough space. Free wifi. On the street, cafes for breakfasts. Gellato shop in front of bldg was popular! Location great on the morning that we visited the Vatican Museums - did not have to wake up so early to stand in line. Both the Venice and Rome apt bookings were great - we showed up, there was someone to meet us at the apt, and the apt was what the description said it was. No bad surprises. No hidden fees. No strange smells. No worries. Totally felt relaxed in both apts after long days walking. What you saw online is what you got. I heard from friends that some Italian apt rental companies take advantage of visitors, but not this one. When I return to Italy, I will use The Key to Italy.

      When can I go back?!

Left on 11/17/2011 for a stay in October 2011

From the moment we arrived at the airport, I knew that the trip was going to be amazing! Our driver, arranged through The Key to Italy was helpful and answered questions that we asked during the 30ish minute drive to the apartment. Upon arriving at the apartment, we were amazed at what a great location it was in (though we knew before booking, it was more incredible upon arrival). Walking into the apartment, we were again pleasantly surprised - the apartment is well decorated and maintained. Apartment Risorgimento served as our base point for the 4 day trip to Rome. Unfortunately, we didn't get to spend nearly the time we'd have liked in the apartment as we were out sightseeing; but, it had all the comforts of home, while being very conveniently located.

Situated across the street from the Vatican, afforded us the ability to view the line and gauge when best to go enjoy. Additionally, it was a quick 10-15 min walk from most all attractions you'd want to visit - and it was an easy (and inexpensive) taxi ride.

Our experience renting through The Key to Italy was flawless. Their staff was very helpful and answered all questions I asked (and there were many!).

The entire trip is a great memory and I can't wait to return. I will certainly be contacting The Key to Italy team when it's time to head back!

We had the best location in Rome!

Left on 08/26/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Take what you are about to read seriously! Our stay at the Risorgimento was more wonderful than we could have imagined. The apartment was much nicer and bigger than the photos portrayed. We were - literally - right around the corner from the Vatican. At night, we would sit and look at the beautiful dome of St. Peter's Basilica from our apartment window.

Another very important thing to know is that the representatives - especially Silvia - of The Key To Italy were top-notch professional. I had an unfortunate fall and ended up needing a wheelchair. Without hesitation, Silvia came to my aid and arranged for everything I needed.

I have already recommended this apartment and The Key To Italy to a personal friend. Wonderful!

Perfect location for our trip to Rome!

Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We had a wonderful vacation in Rome and we enjoyed it so much more because of this apartment. It was terrific! Very spacious, clean, fabulous location, all the amenities you could possibly need, etc. It was so nice to have the comfort of a 'home' after long and busy days of sightseeing. Right from the start, we knew we chose the right place to stay. Giovanni met us at the apartment at a prearranged time and he couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. He showed us everything we needed to know about the apt and made sure we would be comfortable during our stay here. We spent four nights in the apt. and didn't have any issues at all. Within a block or two of the Vatican and a short 5 minute walk to the metro, the location was ideal to see the sights of Rome. And, having the best gelato shop in all of Rome right downstairs wasn't so bad either! When we return to Rome, we will definitely stay here again if it's still available!

the apartment was great! The location is perfect, you can walk to everything. The beds are comfortable and the clothes washer is a great bonus which allowed us the converse on the amount of luggage. Having Rome's best gelato shop ( Old Bridge) on the ground floor of the apartment also made it very easy for when you get those late night or mid morning cravings (we indugled every day and loved it). The car service is a must, when we arrived in Rome 3 hours late and the airlines didn't get our luggage out of the cargo container for another hour our driver was still waiting for us with a smile. He was the most welcome site after having a difficult trip getting to Rome. When we left the apartment at 4:30 am there he was again, on-time and most professinal. I highly recommend both the apartment and the car service.

Great apartment in good location right next to Vatican. Easy access apart from one small flight of stairs, but that is the way it is in Europe. The only negative about the apartment was two very small bathrooms - again the way it generally is in Europe.

Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Check in with Giovanni went without a hitch he was there waiting for us and was extremely friendly and helpful.

We made our own way from the airport getting the train to termini then the metro line towards Batistini getting off at Ottiviani and it was a short walk from there; really easy to find (head towards piazza risorgimento and you will see the Vatican walls and its opposite there near the infamous Old Bridge Ice Cream shop).

The apartment was spacious, well maintained and had everything we needed. The views of the Dome, especially at night when it is all lit up, are spectacular and its really nice to have such large windows and not be overlooked. The windows are double glazed so the noise isn't a problem unless you are super sensitive to it. The beds were comfortable and we felt really at home. We felt secure and were happy to leave our belongings in the apartment whenever we were out.

Whilst we only used the kitchen for making breakfast each day there seemed to be a good stock of cooking oil, salt, herbs etc that people have left. There are plenty of pots and pans and plates etc you don't need to take anything.

The bathrooms were a little dated but clean and perfectly adequate with plenty of water pressure to shower even when there are 4 of you. There are no locks on the bathroom doors but having two of them and them being at the very end of the hall way we never found this a problem.

We used the wifi each day and this was brill! We didn't really use them but there was also tv and a cd player.

The location is brilliant you can pretty much walk everywhere and back! Trastavere is particularly good for a drink or something to eat in the evening plenty of atmosphere and not as expensive as the main squares.

There were 4 of us in our apartment and another group of 4 of our friends staying around the corner in another apartment by The Key To Italy and we all agreed the service was brilliant, we would definitely recommend them to anyone and we will be using them again!

Wonderful Time at the apartment Risorgimento-Vatican View

Left on 05/31/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Overall our stay was great, the apartment was as expected; we were comfortable & everything worked fine-washer, fridge, hot water, air conditioners, stove, toilets, shower...all in good working condition. (You might want to replace the shower head and check the small CD player-the tray would not open for the Cd's.) Nice TV, DVD player, the beds were comfortable and it was nice to have the umbrella's available too. The location worked out beautifully for us, we were able to walk everywhere and the metro station was close by. It would be nice if you included the bus & metro schedules in your information folder and maybe information on the Roma Pass too. It was great having the gelato shop just below too. The double pane windows helped block out the street noise and we had no problems sleeping. And thank goodness for the elevator!!

The transfer service that you provided from the port to apartment and apartment to airport was excellent! Timely, courteous, and with nice, roomy vehicles.

The tour of the Vatican Museums, St. Peters, & Sistine Chapel was also perfect. Our tour guide, Tiberio was incredible!! He was so informative, entertaining, articulate in his speech and wonderful to have as our guide. Thank you for this recommendation also.

The prices for all was very reasonable and it was nice to have you waiting for us upon arrival to explain everything and provide additional information to our questions.

We were very happy and satisfied with everything! We would not hesitate to return or to recommend the apartment Risorgimento - Vatican View to our family and friends.

He than showed us the prepared book explaining how to use the internet and where to buy groceries. The rooms were large and comfortably furnished. We only experienced a few minor problems with the apartment such as water in shower drained very slowly, screws missing from toilet seat in one bathroom, loose electrical plug in kitchen, leak in bottom of tea kettle and seat in bedroom chair broken out. We were assured all these items would be corrected by the owner when she returned to town. Except for those few minor problems it was a wonderful place to stay.

6 of us stayed in the apartment, ages ranging from 9 to 82, so the lift really helped. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and spotless, in a traditional building with inner courtyard. It had everything we needed. The view of the Vatican was even better than expected and the local icecream shop, crepe shop and pasta/pizza/salad family restaurant, all on the same corner, were great value, everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. Vatican Museums and St Peters were easy walking distance, even for our mixed group, as were the Open Top Bus tours. Car pick up and drop off at the airport was very efficient and good value for 6 of us. Check-in with Giovanni was prompt, easy and very helpful. All in all, an excellent stay and highly recommended. We would definitely stay here again. (My only reservation would be that the beautiful old windows, which open right out, could be a hazard for very young children if not supervised.)

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in Rome and can't wait to return to see what all we missed. The apartment was roomy and comfortable, though we didn't actually spend too much time there. The walking distance to St Peters and to the Vatican Museum as well as easy access to the Metro was short as walking distance in Rome goes. We loved living like the locals as we felt like we were the only tourists in the area. The 3rd story apartment opened into a charming courtyard on one side, while the front street side opened up to the street that the Vatican wall is on. We enjoyed the view of St Peter's in the early am and especially at night. With the large windows open we could hear the traffic sounds and the activity in the streets and felt we were part of this magical city. We were able to walk over to St Peter's for early morning Mass several mornings with little effort and we enjoyed stopping at the wonderful gelateria below our apartment each evening when we came in tired and hungry. We would definitely stay there again. The only problem was the "hot" water was only warm, but it did the job. Having 2 bathrooms helped with the five people we were there with. The lift helped my 81 year old mom get up and down easily into the apartment. It took 2 trips to get all five of us there however as the life is tiny. Giovanni was wonderful, answering all our questions ahead of time and meeting us early upon our arrival so we could unload our suitcases before venturing out into the city. A charming experience that we can't wait to relive.

A Wonderful Start to our Vacation!!

Left on 09/20/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Although there were great reviews on this apartment, we were a bit nervous until we walked through the doors. Everything that has been said in previous reports was spot on. It was absolutely wonderful! The location was perfect. Directly across from the Vatican made our exploring so easy. And the view at night of the St. Peter's!. Stunning. It was only a short walk to the metro to go to other parts of the city. The size of the apartment was perfect. We were traveling with our three teenagers, 18, 16 and 14 and we never once felt cramped. Although we really didn't use it much, the kitchen was fully stocked. We did use the washing machine and that was helpful. Very small compared to the machines we are used to, but it did the trick. The a/C was a welcomed addition when we would come in from the august heat. The road below was a bit loud, but with the a/c on, it wasn't a bother at all. The geletaria on the first floor of the building was delicious and you could always find a long line. We enjoyed a treat there every evening. We would definitely recommend this company and this particular apartment. They were so nice to work with and we just loved our apartment. Please, God, we get back there some day again!

I planed my trip arround Vrbo listings. We found a great place small 1 bedroom appartment, but when I showed our friends, they wanted to come, so we found a perfect 2 bedroom, right across from the Vaticant. The Vaticant!..wow. We arrived and were not edisapointed with the accomadations, beautiful, clean, with air! Outside it was 34-40 c. but we were comfortable and got great sleep. With a full kitchen, the stay was fantastic. The only down side was that as Canadians we were not familiar with the electrical demands of Rome, but after Bruno explained, you need to share the appliences with available power usage, we were fine.

Perfect location - very spacious accommodations

Left on 06/29/2010 for a stay in June 2010

This apartment was in the best location possible. It was very spacious and beautifully appointed. After travelling all over the Mediterranean we were very happy with everything about this apartment. There are several wonderful markets close by. The claims of having the best gelato in Rome are not only accurate, but modest. Their prices were lower than everybody else and the portions almost double the average. The 3 kids ate there every day at least once. The only advice I can give is to warn your guests of the electricity usage limitations. Americans are not used to it and we blew the main fuse several times before finding out that you can only run two appliances at once. Turn the a/c off before turning on the washer or oven. Plenty of hot water with good water pressure. We couldn't have been happier. We've already recommended it to friends who are planning a trip in a year or two. Thanks to Giovanni for a beautifully appointed apartment.

This our first trip to Rome with 3 college students. This was a graduation gift to our son. Giovanni was efficient and very professional in helping us with our accommodations. He arranged a driver from and to the airport. The apartment is in a great location and near the train station. We couldn't believe the amount of closet space and loved the king sized bed. We never ran out of hot water with five people taking showers. Gelato downstairs was incredible (possibly the best in Rome) as well as the sandwich shop that had great panni sandwiches. Since the apartment is on the corner, there is a lot of traffic and noise. But with good wine and ear plugs, we were able to leave the windows open and enjoy the cool breeze. We greatly appreciated the wireless internet in the apartment as it served as a great means of communication and research in venturing outside of Rome. The area is very safe; and we found ourselves walking back to the apartment after midnight. Being so close to the Vatican, we were able to run to St. Peter's Square at the last minute and see the Pope. We are grateful to Giovanni for this wonderful treasured trip.

The apartment was in a secure building on an ugly noisy
busy street across from the Vatican, so it was a bonus to
have air conditioning to use as "white noise". The
apartment itself was quiet, clean and well-equipped. Beds
were no-frill but the rooms were "homey" enough.
Furnishings included a nice stereo system with CDs. We
wish there were some english DVDs for kids to occupy
themselves, but the gellateria below us, The Old Bridge,
kept them busy enough! (ask a local - best ice cream in
      Rome!)
Some of the kitchen is in need of updating, but we were
glad to have a freezer and microwave. All in all, a good
experience and the manager (Giovanni) was most gracious.

Located directly across from the Vatican walls and in between St Peter's and
the Vatican museum, this apartment is perfectly situated for devout
Catholics as well as those seeking to make the most of their Roman holiday.

The apartment provides easy access to popular bus routes by being next to
Piazza Risorgimento, and the metro stop is only three blocks away. Nearby
is bustling Cola di Rienzo, full of affordable clothing shops as well as the
culinary meccas of Castroni and Franchi.

The apartment itself has a spacious living/diniing room, and the master
bedroom, master bath, and kitchen are all recently renovated and
      comfortable.

Free wifi is also a big plus, as is the in-house washing machine and air
conditioning. On the downside, the second bathroom is rather small and
not up to the standards of the rest of the house.

The apartment is located on a noisy street which is fortunately most blocked
out by the well-sealed windows, but discourages leaving the windows open.
Overall this apartment makes a good base for exploring Rome and is an
excellent value for the size and location.

There are many choices for a quick meal, coffee, drink, or shopping within footsteps. The main Ottiviano street has good shopping (+ a branch of Castani deli) and of course you will not get passed your front door every evening without stopping at the Old Bridge for excellent gellato right near front door. Only slight downside is sound of traffic in front bedroom if you are lighter sleeper unuse to city.

We arrived from Fiumicino airport with the shuttle
to Termini station and then we took the metro,
about 6 stops and overall an hour trip, not too
      bad.
Sistine Chapel and St.Peter were in front of us,
just on the other side of Piazza Risorgimento is
via Cola di Rienzo, which is a major and glamour

This apartment has a very good location and is very well maintained and clean! It is only 5 minutes away from St. Pietro, Vatican Museum and subway (metro, underground) station. The apartment is quiet and spacious as well.

The building is old, but very nice and quiet! There is an elevator in the building and a porter! The building itself is very clean as well. There is a nice view from all windows and sides of the apartment. The living room bears some of the traffic noise, but not much!

The utilities work well and bathrooms are clean and working properly; hot water runs well; washing machine works well; beds are comfortable; and the apartment overall, is spacious! Perfect for a family of 5 or 6, like we were!

We enjoyed our stay here for 8 days in October 2009 and we will definitely use it again! We were all very satisfied with the Risorgimento apartment. Rome can be visited on foot and using the subway (metro) system, no need for bus tours, unless you plan a visit outside Rome. We found very good restaurants in the area, and the amazing Gelateria downstairs which is really, really good indeed!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! A JOYFUL & SURREAL EXPERIENCE IN R

Left on 10/19/2009 for a stay in June 2009

WE SPEND A WEEK IN ROMA IN JUNE,09 AND RENTED THIS APARTMENT.
FIRST OF ALL WE HAD DONE A TOUR OF ITALY AND WE NEEDED TO BE OUT OF OUR MOTEL AROUND 10AM. OUR CHECK-IN TIME AT THE APARTMENT WASN'T UNTIL 2:00PM. AFTER AN E-MAIL TO SYLVIA (PROPERTY MANAGER) SHE ARRANGED FOR US TO BE ABLE TO CHECK-IN TO THE APARTMENT AS SOON AS WE WERE OUT OF OUR MOTEL. SYLVIA MET US AT THE APARTMENT, WENT OVER EVERYTHING IN THE APARTMENT WITH US AND BY 10:30 WE WERE IN THE APARTMENT, READY FOR OUR WEEK OF ADVENTURE.
THIS APARTMENT IS SPACIOUS, SUPER CLEAN AND WAS VERY COMFORTABLE FOR US.
THE LOCATION OF THE APARTMENT FOR OUR FAMILY WAS GREAT. THE METRO IS JUST DOWN AND AROUND A FEW BLOCKS AND IS VERY ACCESSIBLE. THERE ARE EATERIES JUST AROUND THE CORNER AND THERE ARE ALSO SEVERAL
SMALL GROCERY STORES IN THE AREA.
THE VATICAN IS DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING AND A VERY SHORT WALK TO ST. PETER SQUARE.
WE TOOK THE METRO OR WALKED EVERYWHERE. NO NEED FOR A CAR.
FOR US THERE WAS NO DOWN SIDE ON THIS APARTMENT AND IF WE EVER GET TO GO BACK WE WILL DEFINITELY BE RENTING THIS SAME APARTMENT.
ONE MORE THING, RIGHT NEXT DOOR IS PROBABLY THE BEST GELATO SHOP IN ROME. ENJOY! WE DID!

excellent location and very comfortable apartment

Left on 10/19/2009 for a stay in October 2009

This apartment that we rented is literally across
the street from the Vatican. The area was perfect
for us, centrally located and safe at night which
was one of the major concerns for my family. We
walked everywhere or took the metro to get around
when tired. Ottaviano metro station is just 2 min
away, food stores and restaurants are conveniently
      located just around the corner.

When we arrived at the apartment we were pleasantly
surprised by its size, we were not expecting so
much space. The living room is very large and
bright.Sofa bed is brand new and a fully double bed
which was also a pleasant surprise.

Silvia arranged a tour of the Vatican Museum and
Sistine Chapel for us. Very easy, we just crossed
the street and skipped the long line, a 9 people
      group, a really memorable experience.

This apartment was our first choice because of wi-
fi internet connection, and it turned to be an
      excellent value for money accommodation.
      I'd recommend it without exhitation.

      An excellent apartment

Left on 10/19/2009 for a stay in August 2009

We arrived earlier than expected and we were welcomec by a charming young man who showed us around this excellent apartment. The apartment had everything needed for our stay in Rome and was it was immaculately clean. It was exactly as shown/described on the website particulars. The apartment is located a few minutes walk from St Peter's in one direction and for the Metro in another which was a great advantage. We could not have wanted better. There is a supermarket and a vegetable/fruit market about 10 minutes walk from the apartment. As we visited Rome in August it was hot and it was wonderful to come back to an air conditioned apartment. We received an excellent service from Key to Italy both before and during our stay. We were told when we made the booking that we had made an excellent choice and we agree with this 100%.

Great, homey retreat for catholic family with teens

Left on 10/19/2009 for a stay in April 2009

We spent 5 days here at Easter and it was so ideal for visiting St.Peter's for Easter mass and touring the Vatican; so close we could see over the Vatican wall! The apartment service was great from airport pickup and return to the cake upon arrival,to the amenities in the apartment(spices, maps, videos, games, you name it!). We really enjoyed the big sunny windows and the gelato shop right below us(a bit noisy but the best gelato in the Vatican area). The apartment was very spacious. The master bed was a bit hard and the key was not always easy to do but aside from that, we had a marvelous time there!

Great Location but lots of traffic!

Left on 10/19/2009 for a stay in May 2009

Apartment good size, clean, location good for access to Vatican and bus
      routes.
Ice cream shop outside front door fabulous, although attracts lots of
customers so quite noisy (delicious ice cream).
Master bedroom at front of property above main road - which is constantly
busy - so constant drone of traffic. Sofa bed in lounge comfortable but again
      at front of property.
Two bathrooms a bonus, but very difficult to maintain right temperature of
      shower.
Kitchen ok, but oven old so wouldn't recommend trying to cook in it - unless
you like your food very well done!

Spacious, light and comfortable apartment on the dorrstep of the

Left on 10/19/2009 for a stay in September 2009

Silvia and her team made sure our stay in Rome in September 2009 was memorable. From the prompt and full responses to e-mail enquiries pre-visit to the car pick up service from the airport to the prompt response when we requested a second set of keys, the Key to Italy team (Silvia, Bruno and Giovanni) were superb.

Located within 200 metres of the Musei Vaticani and Piazza San Pietro, the apartment was an ideal location for a base in Rome. The Prati area in the blocks surrounding the apartment has all the shopping, groceries, restaurants and cafes you need and more. The Metro is approximately 5 minutes walk from your front door.

The apartment itself was sparkling clean on arrival, very spacious and very light with large bedrooms with comfortable beds, two bathrooms and toilets (a bonus when there are 4 people), a very well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and beautiful furniture throughout. I really felt like a guest in someone's well to do family home. I cannot recommend this apartment highly enough. The street can get noisy with traffic and chatter but all windows are double glazed and when shut blocked out virtually all noise. I would stay here again without hesitation. Mille grazie Silvia!

      Awesome Vatican Apartment!

Left on 10/18/2009 for a stay in March 2009

This apartment was absolutely perfect! It felt like home from the moment we walked in the door. The neighbors were friendly and kind and the building was very peaceful. The neighborhood felt very safe and comfortable. In addition, the apartment is very near two metro stops. Silvia and Bruno were awesome hosts and were readily available to provide assistance and information for any questions we had.

This was exceptionally important to us because it was our two daughters' first trip overseas and they were very anxious. Their fears were eliminated when we arrived at the airport to the waiting driver they arranged to pick us up. When we arrived at the apartment Silvia and Bruno were there waiting for us and provided a tour of the apartment and thorough instructions on how to work appliances, etc. They also gave us their phone numbers in case anything came up during our 10-day stay and kept in touch throughout. To top it off, they made sure our return ride to the airport (which they also arranged for us)was also a good experience.

A side note, our daughters enjoyed stopping at the oldbridge gelateria downstairs on the way up every evening and the view of the illuminated Vatican cupola at night...with a light rain and the windows open they were in heaven.

We would highly recommend this apartment and "The Key to Italy" rentals to anyone considering renting an apartment in Rome. We look forward to returning to this apartment-home again someday.
