Location

The Prati neighborhood is known for its wide boulevards, fine architecture and great shopping. The streets are wide, room for trees, vehicles, trolleys and pedestrians and the scale of the architecture reminds of us Paris but with an Italian flair, less... groomed, more street markets.

This is the best neighborhood in Rome for real shopping. Along Via Cola di Rienzo there are fashion stores for shoes, leather and clothing that offer the latest fashions without designer prices. Good grocery shopping and gourmet food, too. And, lots of street vendors that are a dream for our teenage fashion mavens, Italian styles, budget prices.

This is also close to the Vatican Museums, walking distance to Castel Sant'Angelo and St. Peter's basilica. Piazza del Popolo is a 15 minute walk. We use the subway from the Ottaviano stop to go everywhere else, 2 stops, 4 minutes to the Spanish Steps. The area is also really well served by buses and a tram.

Exterior

This fine building from 1830 is handsome inside and out. It is on a corner of a half-moon piazza with a park at the center. The trees are high and provide a nice view from the apartment windows. With all the planning that went into the laying out of Prati in the early 1800s.

Interior

The apartment was renovated completely in 2009 and laid out with modern living in mind. The entry has a beautiful antique red table that shows off the antique tortoise-shell mirror above it. Straight ahead is the living room and to the right a long hallway reaches the far end of the apartment.The living room overlooks the piazza with a high window. Clean, white modern furniture highlights Italian taste. The lounge chairs, both signed, are wonderfully comfortable. Known for their modern design in the 1950s, you have to remember that the function preceded design. A long hutch is of equally modern, clean and pleasing design. Its twin is in the dining room. The large, flat-screen television has satellite reception for some English language programs.

Frosted glass sliders separate the living and dining rooms. The modern, minimal design theme continues here with a glass-topped table that has expansion at both ends. Red leather chairs for six diners. Table will seat eight, bringing chairs from the kitchen.

The three bedrooms are the master bedroom that has an ensuite bathroom with enclosed shower. The tilework in all the bathrooms is modern and very pleasing. The master bedroom with red accents has a wall of closets and a small private balcony.

The "blue" and "green" bedroom each have two twin beds, plenty of closet space. Both have a view of the green piazza below.

There are two more bathrooms, one with jacuzzi tub with shower over and the other with enclosed shower.

One additional guests can be accommodated on a roll-away bed.

  With a grocery store right around the corner, and everything we needed in the kitchen, we relaxed around the dining room table for meals; also a great place to play cards. The apartment was spacious, meticulously clean. We were met promptly by Stanislao, who showed us how to operate all equipment, and was available for any questions that might arise. The building was secure, and in a nice neighborhood for walking, close to good restaurants and the Ottoviano metro stop.

  Magnificent apartment!

  We are a family of 7 adults (siblings and spouses); length of stay was five nights. This apartment had everything you could want or need, and more. It was very clean and comfortable. Being in a mostly residential area, it was a nice quiet retreat after touring all day. About a 15 minute walk from the Vatican, where you can catch the Hop On-Hop Off 110 Red Tour Bus. If you want to cook, the kitchen is nicely equipped (there is a supermarket about a 15-20 walk). Would definitely want to stay here again!

  Our family of seven had a fabulous "Roman Holiday" !! We loved staying in Rigoletto! With three large bedrooms and three bathrooms, we were all ready to head out the door exploring at the same time! The apartment is in a great neighborhood with an excellent restaurant down the block and a large "american style" grocery store across the street. Thanks for the recommendations on taxi service and tour guides, both were wonderful. Finally, we cannot forget our greeter, Joseph, who helped us navigate not only the apartment but also managed to FedEx some packages back to the States in a very timely fashion.

  We absolutely loved our stay at the Rigoletto apartment. It was spacious, clean and quite modern on the inside (even though the building is older), and surpassed expectations overall. It was great to have a full (and reasonably well stocked) kitchen as well as a washer and dryer in the apartment. Having a grocery store literally two minutes walk away meant that we could easily get whatever food we needed, and could enjoy a leisurely breakfast at home before heading out to enjoy the city. The size of the apartment also meant that we could truly relax when we returned "home" in the evenings, because we had room to spread out instead of being cooped up in a hotel room. We liked the quiet, residential neighborhood and didn't particularly mind the fact that there aren't a ton of restaurants in the area (although there are a couple if you're desperate).

  Authentic Experience in a Residential Neigborhood

  This apartment is huge. We were a party of 4 and a party of 6 would still find this to be very spacious. It is located in a very nice residential section of Prati. We became regulars at the neighborhood pizza place around the corner. We also took advantage of the grocery store located less than 1 block away. The building is a step back in time as you use an old school cage elevator to access the 6th floor apartment. While it looks old, the elevator is fast and quiet and our greeter managed to organize 5 people and many bags into the space so that we could all make it in 1 run. The doors to the apartment are huge and have really heavy duty locking mechanisms. The pictures on the website don't do this place justice. The apartment has everything you may need and the level of comfort and detail is extremely impressive. The owners take great pride in this apartment and it shows. They have thought of everything in terms of cooking, entertaining and comfort. They have an extensive music collection and a small number of Dvds that have the proper regional coding. The wifi connection is very fast and stable and they even have a PC and printer/copier should you need it. If you are a walker, you can reach the Vatican in 25 minutes at a casual pace. If you want the tram, figure a 15 minute walk. For the cab stand, figure an 8 minute walk. There are many neighborhood (non tourist) dining options nearby. Italy Perfect provides a great deal of helpful information and are very professional and responsive. We highly recommend them and the fantastic Rigoletto apartment.

  Great apartment/Great value

  Beautiful fully renovated apartment. 3 large bedrooms and 3 extra large bathrooms. Large, well stocked kitchen, large dining room and living room with TV, WiFi also. Great size for our family of 7. Helpful that it had a washer for our week stay in Rome. It is a 10 minute walk to the Ottaviano metro station, and from there you can get any place in the city on a short Metro ride. Check out the bakery on Via Barletta, right before the station. Excellent and cheap. 20 minute walk to the Vatican. Family oriented neighborhood, not touristy. Lots of good restaurants, shopping and grocery stores near by. This apartment is a great value. Check in was easy and they were very helpful about the apartment and neighborhood.
