brooklyna place to call home in rome.
Left on 07/30/2012 for a stay in July 2012
hands down, the best apartment rental in rome. the apartment is perfect. First, the ideal location, as it is, literally 2 mins from the Vatican, but also nestled in the cutest and most authentic neighborhood of the Borgo Pio. Secondly, the apartment is ideal -- clean, cool, thoughtfully decorated and cozy -- you will feel like it is your own home. Thirdly, Sofia, the host, is a gem. She will answer all concerns every time, on time, and make sure that your stay is perfect. Overall, this place is a rare find. I was there for three weeks, and am already hoping to go back.

Florence, Italyun Week end da sogno!
Left on 12/01/2011 for a stay in November 2011

Norfolk, UKAn authentic Roman apartment in an excellent location
Left on 10/22/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We can highly recommend this apartment. It's in a charming old building, modern, well-planned and very clean inside. The location is stunning - ideal for the Vatican which is just round the corner, and lots of good restaurants nearby (Maxela was particularly good for Roman meat dishes - opens late though at 8:15pm). The flat is two stories up, so some steep narrow steps. The bedroom, at the front, is quiet at night. The bedroom has wooden shutters as well as curtains so no light problems. Some thought has been put into the interior decoration, and the bathroom is particularly nice.
Plenty of towels are provided, also soap, toilet rolls and shower gel - you might wish to check to avoid bringing things unnecessarily. The water from the shower splashes out easily so a towel's needed on the floor, but really there were no problems at all during our stay..
Sofia was really helpful and very concerned that we enjoyed our time there and that we had everything we needed. She met us at the flat on arrival to explain everything, and again half an hour before we left.
The apartment is expensive by UK standards, but is comparable with Rome prices and especially for this location, so we felt it was well worth it.

HobartRome holiday
Left on 10/19/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Staying in this apartment gave us the essence of living in Rome. The location is fabulous and it was a delight to wake up and see St Peter's dome every morning. Staying in this old part of Rome gave us the sights, sounds and smells of living in a busy city. The apartment is very comfortable and well appointed and within walking distance of all major attractions. The internet Wifi access was excellent. The nearby underground is reliable and cheap at 1 euro a ride. The ticket machines at the station are very easy to use and enabled us to use public transport for day trips our of Rome.
The Vaticano area has lots of small shops with wonderful food. We ate in most of the time. However, the surrounding cobbled lanes are filled with restaurants spilling out into the streets if one wants to eat out.
We loved the 9 days we spent in Rome and our host Sophia was a delight to meet. Her English is excellent and she was extremely prompt and helpful with our inquiries.
We had an enjoyable, relaxing holiday. We would love to return and spend more time in Rome at this wonderful apartment.Response from Sofia - 10/20/2011

We were so happy from the moment we entered this sweet, well decorated and immaculate apartment. We were thrilled. I can't believe there is a nicer way to enjoy Rome, for the price. It was so much nicer than staying at a hotel. Everyday my husband would say, "Isn't this so much better than staying in a hotel?" and I would agree. I adore Rome and I will rent this apartment whenever I go there; I feel like I have a pied-a-terre.

The location of this apartment is perfect - very near the Vatican. Although we didn't cook very much - we were in Rome after all and looking forward to the great restaurants there - we did use the kitchen for breakfasts and snacks. We felt comfortable hosting friends for aperitif and enjoyed strolling back in the evening after dinner. Did I mention the location is perfect? The decor is chic and tasteful with clean lines and attention to detail. Everything that was promised was delivered and I couldn't be happier about my stay there.

Boston, MALooks pretty, but not recommended
Left on 08/06/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Although this apartment is beautifully laid out and decorated--and the location is fantastic-- there were serious problems during our stay (this list is not exhaustive):
At one point a stranger unlocked our door and walked in. Despite a language barrier, we could tell that she was apologetic and mortified. Apparently, she had been sent by the owner, but, just as we had not been informed to expect anyone, she had not been informed that the apartment was occupied. The owner never followed up with us to explain or apologize for this situation.
At another point the owner asked if she could bring prospective guests by for a viewing while we were still paying occupants. Fortunately, she did honor our preference that they not be brought by, but such an inappropriate request should never have been made in the first place.
Missing from the kitchen are many items (cheese grater, coffee maker, veg peeler, garbage bags, dish soap) that are consistently provided in more basic rentals. There is an oven, but no oven-safe cookware. There is a dishwasher, but it was clear that it had never been run/tested as there was still styrofoam packing material inside. We were disappointed by these shortcomings, as the apartment is advertised as "luxury" with a "fully equipped kitchen" and "all the comforts of home." We offered to pick up the missing items as they would benefit us as well as future guests, but, with the exception of a coffee maker, the owner declined, saying that she had provided the basics.
The windows in the living room lack any window dressing, resulting in a potent greenhouse effect. This apartment is advertised as sleeping up to four people, but anyone staying in the living room has no privacy or way to block outside light when sleeping.
An opaque curtain is needed to block the light from the streetlight directly outside the bedroom window. It's bright enough to read a book by in bed; to sleep, we put bandanas over our faces.

I am a bit disappointed about this comments of the guest that rented the apartment for all the month of july. I really didn't expected them because i was more than polite and available for them. I would like to apologize for the stranger that got in. She is the lady from the agency and she new that the apartment was occupied. She had to run to the apartment because the guy from the gas company was there to read the gas counter ( which he thought was outside the apartment) and she knocked more than ones and no one replied so she thought that the apt was empty. It was a particular situation that never will happen again and I am sorry if it occurred during their stay. For me asking a favor to the guest in a very polite way taking respect of their stay , since for every single problem I was always there to make their journey look great, I don't find an inappropriate request to ask if it was a problem for them if for 5 min I showed some clients the apt. I accepted their decision without any problem.
The "many" items (cheese grater, veg peeler) that are listed, like I told the guest, where in my opinion not essentials. Garbage bags and dish soap where always bought by the renters and no one ever complained about it. When I say that the kitchen is full equipped this means that there is a "dish washer" ( which a guest should appreciate that is new, it works and has never been used so it is very clean), oven, stove, fridge, freezer, washing machine, all kinds of pot, knives, plates, cups, glasses, all for cleaning the house ( but not detergents, which for my opinion, even for a matter of hygiene should be bought by the rentals during the stay. Always if we talk for a total of one month or more)
By the way the apartment is always very clean when the guest arrives and if wanted we can send a guy to clean the house when requested.
In the description of the house it said one bedroom and one sofa bed in the living room. So it is expected not to be very confortable but for the stay of a person in a short rent is good (which was in this case. A third person was coming for one week) . And actually it can be seen in the pictures of the house. SO what is seen is what is offered.
There is a curtain in the bed room but we will provide to put a more opaque one so that there will be completely no light coming inside.
Please if there are any questions feel free to contact me. I will be more than happy to be clear in every single doubt.
