Location

The Piazza Navona area is prized for its central location and the richness of the sights and street life in this area. The piazza is lined with fine restaurants. In the center are three glorious fountains, the center one being the famous F...ountain of the Rivers by Bernini. Buskers play music, artists sketch, children chase balloons, lovers kiss.

Exterior

The Maestro apartment is perched at the top of a beautiful cloister that hosts art exhibits, a café, theater performances and summertime concerts. There are steps to reach the apartment. An elevator takes you to the first level, the level of the café and from there four flights of stairs, 50 steps to the apartment level. There are handrails but the steps are old and worn.

Outside the apartment is an enclosed terrace area from which rises the old bell tower of the cloister with the huge bells still in place. Don't worry, they are silent but evocative, all the same. Occasionally this terrace space serves as the walkway for people going to theater performances next door. There is a railing that separates the tenant's patio area from the corridor. But, we think, that when there is a performance, guest would probably close the dining room curtains and the front door for privacy. Schedules for exhibits and summer concerts are established only a month or two in advance. The summer time concerts may or may not be to your taste and you will hear the noise from the performances. They end by 11pm, so if you don't enjoy the choice, we suggest you dine out. Concert schedules are not posted on the internet, but you can pick up a flyer when you check in. The selection is eclectic, jazz, gospel, rock, song, dance and poetry.

Interior

The apartment space is bright and open. Fresh colors, light fabrics and modern art tie the apartment in with the art-focused cloister. The open plan living, dining room and kitchen has windows on both sides. The living room window overlooks the cloister. The dining area window opens onto the bell tower. If architectural drama pleases you, it is all here, wherever you look, ancient structures and modern lines converge. The double sofa bed can accommodate 1 adult or 2 children.

The dining table seats four. The kitchenette has a four burner gas stovetop, oven, small refrigerator, Italian coffee maker, pots and pans. No microwave or dishwasher. Consider there is a nice cafe below for a delicious cappucino and cornetto (croissant), lunch, takeout and picnic lunches.

The spacious bedroom also has a window onto the cloister. Two pendant oriental lamps are a charming light for the corner. There is an armoire and dresser for your clothing. The bathroom is accessed off the bedroom. It has a small modern shower.

  Lisa at Italy Perfect did an amazing job to find me an available apartment in Rome during high season at the last minute. She made all the arrangements to accomodate my needs, and responded to any request or adjustments very quickly. I stayed in the Maestro, which was more amazing than I could have imagined. The views were stunning and the apartment was perfect. It really felt like my own home, and I wish that it was!!! My greeter was also extremely helpful and friendly. She was flexible and available to help coordinate my arrival, making everything very easy from the moment I walked in the door, to the moment I left.
  
  The location of this apartment is unbelievable. It is discrete, safe and nestled within a beautiful church courtyard, now an art center and gallery, that host occasional, lovely small events. I miss nights of being alone in the courtyard with the stone arches and frescos. Every window looks onto something special, and you can hear the most wonderful sounds floating in from the small square nearby. Just around the corner is everything you need...the butcher, a wonderful produce stand, cafes, restaurants, some boutiques, and of course Piazza Navona is just steps away, with the Fontana di Trevi and the Pantheon a few blocks more.
  
  When i come back to Rome I look forward to staying here again. Having a place you can feel totally at home makes the trip even more fantastic and memorable. I would recommend Italy Perfect to anyone looking for this kind of accommodation on their travels. All of their properties are beautiful, well maintained, and you can be sure that you will be taken care of as well.
