Where to start? First let’s start with location, the website describes the apartment as “walking distance (15 minutes) to Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Campo dei Fiori”. It is in fact closer to a 30 minute very brisk walk to the Spanish Steps. Location aside at first glance I was very pleased with the accommodations, but then, we looked closer. When we arrived there was no toilet paper anywhere in the apartment, minor detail but a little irritating that we had to wait about three hours for the maid to bring some. Thankfully my mother-in-law always has a roll in her suit case. Then we were informed that the toilet in the one of the main bathrooms was not working, with three bathrooms in the apartment we weren’t too worried but then we discovered that the hot water wasn’t working. Again we called the contact number we had and were told it would be fixed. It took 24 hours from our arrival to get hot water and the toilet fixed, with only 2 days in Rome my husband and I undertook the adventure of our first sponge baths using the kettle to heat up the water. In the end we were offered $100 to compensate us, is that enough? You be the judge… Now let’s talk about the actual apartment, it was very run down, the beautiful Jacuzzi in the master bathroom has about an inch of rust around the outside bottom of it, there was one small dish towel provided for our entire stay, the carpet in the living room was filthy, and the noise in the 3rd bedroom (which can also be closed off to be its own apartment) was unbearable. We were awoken every half hour either by the loud gurgle in the bathroom toilet due to their severe plumbing issues or by the noise of the doors losing in the main lobby. I could continue on and on. The description of this apartment promotes a “luxurious apartment that an unforgettable stay”. I definitely agree with the second part of that statement!!!

The apartment was every bit as sumptuous as it looked in the photos. It was all that could be expected of a five star property - with two minor exceptions. Firstly, the water pressure was low and it was impossible to fill the tub. By the time it would have filled the water would have been cold and the shower was only marginally more than a drip. Secondly, the coffee cups were cracked and one leaked. However, these detracted very little from a memorable stay. Ideal for a small group with extremely spacious and comfortable communal areas. We very much hope to return.

The apartment is lovely, clean and has most amenities travelers would expect for a 5 star rating. Great location (quiet), near the streetcar and Metro, but shopping for basic supplies is limited in the area.
Additional towels (only 2 per bedroom, per week) should be provided for a 5 star, specifically for the kitchen area.
Instructions for operation of dishwasher, washer, etc. were not available. The owner left several notes with instructions on what "not to do", but nothing on local shopping, preferred resaurants in the area, local transportation suggestions, etc. This would have been most helpful.
