Devonport, New ZealandKitchen facilities wanting.
Left on 07/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This apartment is ideally located, & on first entering with the key holder appeared to be all we expected. It did have everything listed except no electric jug to boil water, an everyday appliance in this modern world, and no iron or ironing board. On request the last 2 items were supplied but not the jug.
Water has to be boiled in a pot/saucepan (and yes, the same motley set that a previous tenant commented on), on a gas stove in a very cramped kitchen (why do they build a kitchen under a stair well? For tall people like us it is a challenge to use, and seems strange when the rest of the apartment is spacious and sparsely furnished). There is no microwave / oven & no toaster.
We were supplied with 1 bath towel each for the week which made made the regular washing of these a necessity.
The price charged for this apartment was much too high for the standard of the facilities. The big and only advantage is its location to sights of Rome and convenience stores for basic supplies. -

ManchesterSpacious, charming, and comfortable in superb location
Left on 02/08/2012 for a stay in October 2011
We absolutely loved it. We stayed 4 months. Great location, central, safe, bohemian cool, and a bit upmarket. It is clean and pleasant. Bathroom is nice. Plenty of storage. Not noisy. Comfortable bed. Well equipped.
Roman Reference office is a 3 min walk. they were helpful, relaxed, and responsive. Check in and out were very easy
Downsides?
>Small kitchen, 3 small hobs and no oven. Fine for simple meals.
>A bit dark in the bedroom but easily fixed by an extra lamp. The front room and bathroom are both light due to big windows
Location:
The area is called Monti, full of real Roman life eg locals out socialising right through the day at the local piazza, bars, and restaurants. There are plenty of local events. not heavily touristed. many nice local shops eg tiny chandelier repair shops, antique shops, clothes, and lots of food options. Very central: walking, colosseum and roman forum are 3-4 minutes via del corso is 6-8 minutes, trevi fountain is 20min, pantheon 30, trastevere 40, piazza navona about 40, main station is 20 min , metro is 5 min. lots of buses. Taxis are cheap in Rome eg 12Euros vatican to this flat.
Spacious:
versus many others this is huge. There is a main bedroom and a large front room which has a folding bed, so several could sleep there.
Character:
Plenty of charming features like really aged floor tiles, high ceilings, and ceiling wooden beams. I believe it is about 300 to 400 years old. There is also a garden you can see through the bathroom window, with orange trees, if you crane your neck a bit!
Heating
Gas central heating worked well. We were there in Winter. Shower is good, hot, plenty of power. heated towel rail is good.
