Additional Location Information
Monti is the name of one of the most ancient area of Rome. The name literally means mountains in Italian and comes from the fact that the Esquiline and the Viminal Hills, and parts of the Quirinal and the Caelian Hills belonged to this rione. The district is very large and very urbanistically composite, ranging from areas of intensive urbanization (such as that between the Interior and the Quirinal, with an axis of Via Nazionale, and all the buildings in Via Cavour) and the most recent areas as those between the Esquiline and Celio, on Via Amba Aradam).
Particularly appreciated from this point of view, and increasingly popular in recent years, is the area between Via Nazionale and Via Cavour (Via del Boschetto, Via dei Serpenti, Via Baccina and Via Panisperna ),the modesty of dwelling houses , the narrow streets, artisan shops, small shops seem to retain the characteristics of nineteenth-century Rome. The area, packed with restaurants, bars and many restaurants, gravitates on the square of the Madonna dei Monti, near of the church, which is still a gathering place for local residents and occasional visitors.
Thanks to its position, Monti is full of archaeological sites such as the Colisseum, the Trajan Forum, Nero's Domus Aurea, partof the Roman Forum and markets of Trajan.
Also, it's located very close to the Metro station Cavour (the one that precedes Termini Station (the main Metro and train station).

Kilmarnock, United KingdomExcellent location for a beautiful apartment in a charming Itali
Left on 05/03/2013 for a stay in April 2013
When my wife and I arrived at this apartment we knew we'd booked something special. The narrow cobbled street that led to the apartment was filled with window boxes, plants, bicycles and those iconic Italian Vespa scooters added an extra splash of colour to this charming little street which was only a 5-10 minute walk from the the Forum and the Colosseum. Cavour metro station was only 2-3 minutes from the apartment and clearly with the apartment being so conveniently located all the necessary ameneties were close to hand.
The open plan design was beautiful with a modern well equipped kitchen, gorgeous bathroom and in my view the winning features were a mezzanine floor with a large comfortable double bed which led through an electrically operated roof window to a large wooden decked roof garden with table and chairs. This was decorated with soft lighting and orange, lemon and mandarin trees. The roof garden was the perfect antidote to the tiring, but rewarding sightseeing trips that this beautiful city has to offer.
We did have two very minor issues when we stayed in the apartment however I have to say that the service we received from Marida and the beautiful Eleanori from Nostromondo, the letting agent was fast and efficient.
A suggestion we would make is that the seating in the lounge área could be bettered by having a larger and more comfortable seating área however this is only a very minor criticism. A final point to highlight is that my wife and I stayed in a hotel in central Rome last October and after our stay at the Ciancaleoni we'd have no hesitation booking again. -

From the time of booking to the time of arrival in Rome Marida was very helpful. The apartment was perfect ... very clean, tastefully decorated and fully equipped with all that we needed for our weekend visit. Loved it.

Toronto, CanadaFantastic 2-week stay
Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in November 2012
All our pre-departure arrangement was done via emails and Marida (our contact) was very responsive. She even gave us a good discount because of our lengthy stay.
Pre-arranged transportation was waiting at the airport and that ushered in our memorable 2 weeks in Rome.
The property was meticulously maintained and all the amenities were accurate as per descriptions. What's best is the central location and we literally walked everywhere in Rome. Despite the central location, the neighborhood is secluded at the end of a one way alley. It is definitely an oasis in the middle of the eternal city.
My wife and I couldn't be more satisfied with our stay. Highly recommended. -

This is a great apartment. First off the location is excellent. You are dead center in the city and you can walk everywhere. This area is private and is an enclave unto itself. Via Urbana is one street away with great restaurants (try Tricolore). The apartment is very charming and I felt like I was in my home away from home. I cooked, cleaned, slept, as if it was my own place. It is very quiet which is a requirement for me. No dogs barking all night and cars passing by. This is rare in Italy!!! The rooftop is a great escape although it was raining and cold during my visit. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and whomever decorated spared no expense. I can only ask if you read this review that you take care of this apartment for those of us that want to return. Treat it as it is your own home. The only flaw is that people get confused with 45 and 45 B and you'll have strangers on occasion either knock on your door or try to open your door. This was a bit uncomfortable for me in the middle of the night. Marida and Leonora were great as hosts and anything you need they are there to help. If you are a Lazio fan and not as Roma then you cannot stay here (not really :)

Nantucket, MALoved this spot!
Left on 12/14/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We loved this apartment. It's a bit funky, which is right up our alley. The bed was comfortable and the little dead end street is so quiet, you'd never know you were in the heart of Rome. The bathroom was spacious, lots of hot water. Didn't cook at all but the kitchen is nice. Too much great food around! There is not much of a "living room" just a little couch that folds into a bed, so the seating downstairs is minimal. The terrace is really big and just screams for a cocktail party! But we didn't spend too much time up there, although it was nice to have. We would end up leaving the apt around 10am and stay out all day. We walked everywhere, and while this apartment isn't right smack in the middle of the most touristy spots, it was great to walk home at night and feel at home. But there is a metro close by as well. I think this apt is perfect for 2 people, three might be a bit of a stretch, privacy wise. Marida was fabulous! So nice, she arranged tickets for the Borghese museum and a taxi to the train station for us before we left. She always responded promptly to my emails as well. We are already planning a trip back in two years, and will use Nostomondo again for sure.

This is a beautiful suite with an amazing terrace in a great location in Rome! Steps from the Cavour station and within walking distance from the Colloseum. Could not have asked for a better place! Nostromondo staff were wonderful and check-in/check-out were a breeze! I would highly recommend this suite to anyone looking for a beautiful apartment in a beautiful city!

Left on 10/16/2012 for a stay in October 2012
This was a great place to come home to. Monti is a charming neighborhood, incredibly convenient yet somehow off the beaten track. The metro is only a couple of blocks away, along with a grocery and all manner of little shops. Check-in and -out were by appointment, which worked flawlessly. The apartment itself is quiet, tranquil, and well-appointed. The roof deck is a great place to hide away, day or night.

Was greated by Marida, who by the way is what you expect of a roman woman, beautiful, enchating and warm.We had forgotten to make reservations at the vatican and she went out of her way to reserve for us and came back the next day to leave us the reservations. The transfers she reserved for us were excellent and on time. The suite is exactly what you see on the pictures, no surprises there. You are welcomed by a small ``cul de sac`` italian coble street (so no traffic),a stuco house with large wooden doors and then you open the doors and ``BaM``. A modern suite very clean, well equiped kitchen, confortable bed, beautiful bathroom equiped with spa bathtub and music if you so desire. The outdoor terrace is the conclusion of this suite as being ``awsome``. The location is close to everyting and you do you do want to visit this city by walking, there is a surprise at every corner (subway is 5 minutes walk). Markets are close but do not ask for bacon.Great restaurants also near.
Thank you for the memories!Response from NOSTROMONDO STAFF - 09/28/2012

I only stayed in the Ciancaleoni Suite for 2 nights - but they were a great 2 nights! The apartment is set back on a small street (Ciancaleoni Street) that is really nice and cute. I would run in to the neighbors a couple of times a day and they were really nice each time. The apartment itself was sparklingly clean and nicely decorated. The lighting from the track lights and natural skylight made it feel warm and inviting instead of cavernous.
The staff is highly professional and caring. I was catching a train from Florence to Rome with a friend and our schedule unexpectedly changed. Marida was really accommodating when I asked if we could change our meeting time. Her willingness to meet me at a later time made it so that I was able to see a few more sites in Florence instead of having to catch an earlier train back to Rome. Once I got to the apartment Marida showed me all of the apartment's amenities and suggested a neighborhood restaurant and pointed out a nearby church. She really cared about helping to make my trip to Rome special.
Without a doubt, I will go through Nostromondo (and hopefully Marida!) the next time I'm in Italy. I just wish that they had apartments in other cities in Italy so that I could stay in one of their apartments in each city that I visit!Response from NOSTROMONDO STAFF - 09/28/2012

NYCAttentive Service in a Chic apartment in the Heart of Rome
Left on 09/23/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our august 2012 Rome vacation at the Ciancaleoni Suite was actually our second stay at the Ciancaleoni apartments! The summer before, in august 2011, we stayed at the sister apartment next door -- the Ciancaleoni Loft. We enjoyed the accommodation so much that we had to return the following year! Marida and her Nostromondo Staff continue to provide exceptional service in a warm, courteous and friendly atmosphere. They have perfected a formula for ensuring that the patron feels like he is truly a guest in the modern home of an urban aristocrat with upscale taste. Marida and chef Loic, prepared a sumptuous Roman dinner on our fourth night that left us wanting more! The Suite is newly renovated with an open floor plan that brings in plenty of natural light in a spacious two-story bedroom loft that provides access to a delightful rooftop terrace that can be used for dining alfresco. The apartment is very clean and well kept. There is interplay between historical and contemporary furnishings that blend well together against the modern character of the space. The Suite sits on a dead-end street so there is very little automobile traffic and noise is kept to minimum. Amenities include a/C; a modern kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and electric range; and a built-in speaker system for music listening enjoyment throughout the residence. One of the best features is the apartment's close proximity to many nearby historic attractions such as Santa Maria Maggiore, the Roman Forum, the Col0sseum and Vittorio Emanuele II Monument, all within walking distance. It is also conveniently located near Via Cavour (only two blocks away) with its many delightful restaurants, shops and direct access to the Termini Metro Station. For us, it was a wonderful and memorable experience to stay in a beautiful apartment suite that was suitably sited in the heart of Rome, with attentive service from Nostromondo Staff.

We were a little apprehensive about staying at an apartment as we have always used hotels in the past, but we could not have dreamt that the experience would be so perfect. The accommodation, facilities and Décor are excellent and as for the roof terrace – Wow! Everything needed for an extended stay is supplied from a well equipped kitchenette to bedding and towels. Some features include: Flat screen TV, piped music to the bathroom and upper deck area, air conditioning, bathroom Jacuzzi, safe and electronic terrace windows/door. Another great feature is the security - a heavy metal framed front door only accessible with a key from the outside with an 8 bolt locking system.
The apartment is situated in a narrow side alley (no traffic, except for the odd scooter) within easy walking distance to many of the main attractions of Rome. The opposite side of the street are small private houses and during our stay we meet and got to know some great friendly people who we are still in touch with. There are many restaurants, bars and convenience stores within easy walking distance – turn left out of the apartment to the end of the street and walk down the steps to a small restaurant (we ate here twice during our stay and would highly recommend the food even though a little expensive if you’re on a tight budget), carry on to the bottom of the hill, turn right and within a few meters there are some small shops, the Cavour Metro Station and an Irish Bar. Walk up the steps either side of the Metro and you are on the main road Via Cavour which runs from the Train Station to the Forum. Right opposite is a Supermarket called Elite for everything you need, although we found a cheaper supermarket near Piazza Esquilino which is only 5 minutes walk in the other direction from the apartment.
You are also less than 10 minutes walk from the Coliseum, Palantino, Arc di Constantine and the Forum. We took a guided tour, from one of the many operators hanging around outside the entrance, of the Coliseum, Palantino and Forum costing 27 Euros each adult and 15 Euros for our 12 year old son (You get free entry for European Children, which is normally 12 Euro). This way you jump the long queues at the entrance and have a guide with you all day explaining everything as you go. Our guide for the Palantino was great and we enjoyed it so much we also booked an evening walking tour with him starting at the Colonna Traiana and visiting many attractions including the Piazza Navona and the Pantheon which were both equally impressive, then we rounded off the evening with a meal at a small restaurant down a side alley next to the Pantheon called Pantharei. If anyone would like the email address of the tour guide, please get in touch.
As you can probably tell we had a great time in Rome and have many other recommendations to pass-on if anyone wants to get in touch. One last thing I would say is that you will not be disappointed with this accommodation.Response from NOSTROMONDO STAFF - 09/28/2012

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for our first trip to Rome. Everything was perfect from start to finish! The staff was helpful during booking process, we had a lot of questions before the stay and our e-mails were answered immediately with professionalism. We also tried the pickup service arranged by them, it's very effective and allowed us to reach the apartment with no worries!! Upon arrival Mary welcomed us with a kind smile and we knew right away we could trust her. She supplied useful info about the apartment and its appliances and gave us many tips about the area, the best restaurants and coffee shops. There is a wonderful grocery just opposite to the metro station where we fully stocked up during one week stay. All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay. Staying in the suite allowed us to experience a slice of Roman life that would not have been possible had we stayed in a hotel! Gracie Nostromondo!

This property was perfect for two of us. It looked like a brand new apartment, it was so clean and well appointed with elegant decors. The terrace is terrific, very unique and wonderful for our late night drink or breakfast in the early morning. It's also in a great location. The neighborhood is just like living in a quaint and calm Roman area, although close to everything, walking distance to attractions, while we did take the metro some to save time. We are ready to go back the next time we visit Italy, we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

I have nothing but praise for our stay at Suite. The location is close to Fori and Colosseo in a charming street of Rione Monte, where we enjoyed the picturesque lifestyle of the residents. At check in we were suggested of what to do, were also given a map and a whole load of useful information on places to visit, shopping indications and restaurants' suggestions. The owner Marida and her Staff (Mary) are the kindest persons we have ever met, very supportive, attentive and awesome! Their goal is to make your stay in Rome as comfortable and memorable as possible!!! Thank you Marida !
The apartment is fully furnished and very cozy: you have everything you need and the terrace was a plus! We warmly recommend it. In a word: fantastic!! -

My husband wanted to surprise me taking me to Rome for our 5th anniversary! It has been an unexpected but wonderful holiday!!!Everything we experienced was perfect: we loved the care of the staff to welcome us with a bottle of champagne. This apartment was absolutely fantastic! Great time in great location! Walking distance to everything. Great restaurants nearby, typical shops, groceries. Close to attractions. The ancient and charming palace where the Suite is located is built over an ancient Roman House and you feel it's a very prestigious place. The apartment itself is elegant and charming. Unfortunately, during my stay, I also worked and the free wireless internet connection was very useful. I recommend it, will not be disappointed!
