Description from the owner

Minerva House is located in a very handy and central position: 15 minutes walking from Termini railway station (where all buses and trains come from the airports), 20 minutes walking from the Colosseum and minutes away from public transports (metro-bus-tram).

The apartment is in an elegant building at ground floor, very bright and very quiet, as it is all exposed on the inner side.

It has a large entrance room, with two doors getting to the two bedrooms: both are quite big (about 16t.x14ft.) and accomodate two persons each (either with two single beds or one double bed solution). From the entrance a corridor leads to the other...Read more

    Additional Location Information

The apartment is located in a very central neighborhood called Esquilino: during the Romans times it was a fashionable residential district, rising above the valley in which was later built the Colosseum. It was famous for its beautiful gardens: in front of the house sits a prove of it: the well kept remains of a famous bath called temple of Minerva.
Nowadays it is a very busy area, with shops and offices, which takes advantage of its vicinity with the main railway station. It is a very ethnical neighborhood; with majority of asian people. The local food market is very famous, being the oldest in the city, open every morning until 2pm, so it is the ice cream shop: a delicious and cultural experience ( www.palazzodelfreddo.it). There are important monuments like Santa Maria Maggiore church, Porta Maggiore (the main gate of the Empire) and the Mecenate's auditorium.
It is bordering with San Lorenzo neighborhood, which is a popular and characteristic area, with the main University and lots of nice cheap restaurants, clubs and bars.
Finally it is a very good location to visit the city: with good legs you don't need to take public transports (except the Vatican wich sits far away beyond the river): everything is within an hour on foot. However public transports are just out of the door: buses , metro and trams. Enjoy yourself!!!

We spent two nights in this nice and spacious house, in a very calm area. Close to the center, train station, metropolitan. Supermarket and restaurants in the neighborood. Giuseppe, the owner, is very kindly, and helpfull if you need it.

We were hosted by Giuseppe and his "Minerva House" in March 2012 for a long weekend, the communication has been exemplary, and at the time of our arrival he was already waiting us in the house, ready to welcome us with smiles and helpful advice for our stay. The house was in perfect condition, clean and welcoming, it's in a strategic position, near the metro, termini station(15min), and 20 minutes (by feet) from the coliseum! and is veeery silent, which allows you to sleep in true peace after a day of sightseeing! ps. the restaurant close by the house, is delicious ..! iso, if you arrive late, don't hesitate to step in Thanks Giuseppe and his minerva's house.

Gracious host, clean, spacious and well placed

Left on 11/11/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Minerva house is well placed and although not a close walk to the ruins, it was a pleasant and safe stroll. Transportation in the form of trams was available and we used it on rainy days.We speak no Italian but had no problems.

The apartment was spacious for a city the size of Rome and we enjoyed getting to know the fellow guests although the other room was mostly vacant. We stayed there over a week.

The rooms were clean and the kitchen well supplied. Our room was large and well lite and a large living room was shared with the other guests of the second room. The entire apartment is in the back of a large apartment building so it was well insulated from street noise.

It was very hot in Rome at that time but we comfortable.

Reasonable restaurants and large grocery store were close by as the area is residential and not touristy. However, a number of small hotels are in the area.

Our host was a friendly photographer who spoke excellent English, He and his wife( a psychologist) and young daughter live close by.He always responded quickly to any request.

The train station is nearby but if you have heavy bags or lots of luggage I would take a taxi.

We would definitely stay there on future visits to Rome as there were no negatives , and we liked everything about it, especially our host.

A temple to Minerva is very close by, hence the name.

      feeling home and being comfortable!

Left on 11/09/2012 for a stay in October 2011

It's nice to be a tourist but not living like one and have the impression that you're a native. Renting an apartment is a solution to that but some apartments have no character and are only for tourists. This is not Minerva house! This house has a lot of charm and you can easily imagine what it is to be a roman and almost live like one: even if it's close to Termini the neighborhood is quiet and nice, the grocery store and other stores are around the corner as well as the subway. Very easy to get there and also to go everywhere from there. Near the Coliseum but a bit far from the other attractions. You need to take the subway or be a good walker!
The living room, the kitchen, the bathroom are great! The beds in the small room are small and narrow. I went to Rome with my son so it was OK for us but wouldn't be for a couple. The other room is perfect though. And it woulb be the spot for a family. It also has a nice terrace.
Giuseppe is a good host and can give you explanations and advices.
