Description from the owner

You enter this 2nd floor studio apartment through a private entrance in its' own building, detached from the main house. Perfect for one person or a couple, the apartment is situated in a beautiful and quiet rural setting. Two velux windows look on to a perennial flower garden and a Fuscia hedge while an outside door from the kitchen area leads to a large private balcony where you can grill your dinner or sunbath in a lounge chair with your favorite book. Pets are welcome. While two can sleep in the double-bed with a firm mattress and reading lights, a convertible couch can provide a very comfortable sleep for your child or guest. Additional Location Information

Nearby Glandore Harbor is a most scenic harbor where sailing boats large and small set anchor. Hayes Pub, tucked into a hill with the rest of the village, offers outdoor tables and chairs from which you look down at the harbor while sipping a most glorious pint of Guinness, a must while the afternoon drifts into evening. Drombeg circle, an incredible remain from the Bronze Age, is a national treasure and literally a two minute drive from the house on the way to Glandore. Kinsale is 40 minutes to the west and Killarney 2 hours to the northeast ( A bird could do it in 30 minutes but slow-winding roads is the price you pay for dramatic landscapes on breathtaking peninsulas like Beara and Dingle). Skibereeen Golf course, a twenty minute drive, offers 18 wonderful holes. The local pitch and putt course on the Warren (our 5 star blue beach) in Rosscarbery is a par 3 course which affords an incredible view of the sea while you fine tune your short game. Clonakilty, a twenty minute drive on the N71 heading east, offers a sensational live music venue at DeBarra's Pub. Hill walking, sailing, golf, fishing, horseback riding, are all very accessible and loads of fun. Excellent restaurants that use the finest local produce abound. You can not buy fresher fish anywhere than from the local fish shop in Union Hall. The single lane, hair-raising bridge you cross to get into Union Hall was featured in the classic Irish film, War of the Buttons. Roury Glen, over which the house sits, is your quintessential Irish landscape. Go nowhere and become enchanted.

      Perfect weekend escape.

Left on 10/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Myself, my daughter and our dog Sunny spent a lovely weekend in the above mentioned apartment in West Cork last august. Located on a country lane the setting is perfect for a peaceful getaway. The studio is finished to a high standard and has a cosy cottage feel. Both the bed and the convertible couch were extremely comfortable which ensured a great night's sleep. But what I liked most was the balcony which afforded beautiful views of the meadow in front of the house and the hills beyond. Great for leisurely breakfasts. Another lovely touch was the delicious Irish brown soda bread and scones which awaited us on our arrival! Nora the caretaker provided these and was also very helful with any questions we had. We had a range of good restaurants and pubs to choose from in the nearby villages of Rosscarbery and Glandore. The beautiful beach is minutes away with its clifftop walks and golf course. We would whole-heartedly recommend a stay here especially to couples or small families with pets!
