The River Alyn is also a great local fishing spot and plays host to a number of other pursuits such as kayaking and the occasional prospector looking for elusive Welsh gold. The village has a number of good restaurants, pubs and shops and there are more to be found further afield in the historic city of Chester. Chester plays host to a variety of other attractions, such as Chester Zoo and the notable Gateway Theatre.

We were greeted by our host, Bev, who showed us around and explained the workings of the cottage.
Our visit, in February, was when the weather was particularly cold and we were pleased to find the heating had been on for some time before our arrival.
The cottage is well furnished and we found it very comfortable.
This is a working farm in a rural location and you need to be aware that the shop is not at the end of the driveway. That said there are lots of walks and the 'play area' is great.
There are loads of places to visit in the area and it is an ideal touring centre, i.e. Chester, Liverpool, North Wales, etc.
We loved it staying in Hen Cottage, the only 'gripe' are several low beams but after a couple of knocks you soon get used to them.
