prachtig huis aan lake rotorua, met veel privacy, de tuin is schitterend, alles is aanwezig in het huis.
De gastvrouw heeft enorm veel informatie.
Our home away from Home
We had a lovely experience in your home Heather & Mike and we will definetly be returning. We had family come from Niue to attend Raggamuffin and this was the best location very secluded, quiet and no smelly eggs. Home is very cosy and homely we will definetly be returning next summer.
Beautiful location, right on the lake, peaceful with a lovely garden.
We had a quiet and comfortable stay. There is lots of space for the family to relax and we really enjoyed the BBQ on the deck. Decor is dated (70's?) but we found this quite charming. Perfect for 2 couples or a family.
Heather and Mike made the whole booking and arriving process very easy and were very helpful with what to do. We thought the location was perfect for a range of activities in and around Rotorua. After a busy day you can then retreat back lakeside to recover!
Response from Heather & Mike - 02/03/2013
Delighted you enjoyed the cottage & Rotorua. Agree that the decor adds to the charm and cosy feeling.
Fabulous bach in great handy location
Fabulous, clean, family friendly bach, run by a great couple. They provided us with loads of handy info to help make the most of our stay. The bach is in a fab location on the lake, and the vista constantly changes. Happily recommend to others. Cheers
Response from Heather & Mike - 02/03/2013
The location and property certainly make it very family friendly. I hope you come again.
Loved our stay here, place may be slighted dated but that just adds to it charm.great view lovely garden, every thing you could need to live there.the fire place was the cream on top.do think the wifi should have been free, they do give you a voucher for it but with a teenage child it didn't last long..will be back.thank you
We stayed at the cottage over the Easter break and had a wonderful relaxing holiday. The cottage was lovely and clean, well presented and with a view to die for. Mike and Heather were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thanks for the trout and the recommendations of where to go and what to see, especially the evening concert and kiwi house. This was a highlight for the family. We would love to return.
We stayed here two nights with another couple. Lovely location (no sulphur smells here!) and good tips from Heather and Mike on things to see and do. The views are just stunning and the cottage very comfortable -- it's not glamourous or posh but that's part of its charm -- it looks like people really live there. We had the use of one of their kayaks during our visit. I couldn't stop taking photos of the views. Sunsets were extra special. Could have easily stayed much longer.
Response from Heather & Mike - 05/24/2012
Hi Barbara, I hope & and your friends can return one day. We have had crisp frosty mornings followed by beautiful days and more lovely sunsets. Possibly a little chilly for the kayaks though.

beautiful garden with stunning views
The interior of the house is dated. The garden and the views make this good (with pier and kayaks)! Sorry you had no internet in het house.
A wonderful family holiday
The accommodation was fabulous for a family of 6. Home away from home. Our family had a terrific holiday enjoying the highlights around Rotorua. The hot springs, swimming, catching the most delicious trout, mad mountain biking in the most pristine redwood forest we have seen. I highly recommend this holiday as the most relaxing, scenic, enjoyable and action packed if you so desire for all ages

Great family friendly accomodation
A beautiful place to stay, right on the lake. Close enough to Rotorua and far enough to escape the sulphur smell. Excellent hospitality, Mike and Heather have excellent local knowledge givng us great tips on what to do and will even help you book places to go. The cottage is really clean and tidy with everything you need. There is loads of space for little ones to run/crawl around.
Our family really enjoyed our stay there, and recommend this beautiful cottage to anyone thinking to going to Rotorua.

Wonderful place to reconnect with our family...
Heather and Mike's warm hospitality made our stay very memorable. We loved spending Christmas in Rotorua, visiting the mud pools and the other attractions they suggested. We were treated to fresh trout the afternoon Mike went fishing, and enjoyed a traditional Maori feast at Tamaki Village. The feast was an exceptional experience for our kids, one they won't soon forget. The cottage had plenty of space to spread out, throw a rugby ball around and feed the swans which, again, made our stay very comfortable.

fabulous location with friendly, efficient and welocming hosts
Wished we could have stayed longer at this great home right on the lake edge.
Near enough to Rotorua for sightseeing there but wonderful to come home to the tranquility and peace of Nicara cottage.
We had a log fire to keep us cosy, and all other amenities we could want.
Thankyou to our friendly hosts.
We spent a very enjoyable 4 days in Rotorua, staying at Nicara Cottage, which is located 5mins drive out of Rotorua on the lake. There are no sulphur smells and it is so peaceful to wake up to a view of the lake and swans. The Cottage was very comfortable and spacious for our family of five, with a beautiful garden to sit/run/play in Had the weather been slightly better we would have had a BarBQ on the deck overlooking the garden and lake. Mike and Heather were lovely hosts, very helpful and informative about the many places to visit and eat at in Rotorua.
A wet and windy but cosy stay at Nicara
Nicara Cottage was a comfortable and warm haven from the windy and wet weather that we experienced in Rotorua. Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy the lovely garden - but we hope to return one day and sit on the deck. Heather and Mike were very helpful and welcoming hosts.
The home and garden was beautiful and offered us a couple of days to relax from our travels. Everything we needed was there, from the laundry facilities to coffee. Mike and Heather were very gracious hosts and quite helpful in planning the outings we decided on, yet let us enjoy our private family time.
Response from Heather & Mike - 12/05/2011
Kathy, so delighted you enjoyed your stay in Rotorua & at Nicara Cottage, Heather
I stayed in the Nicara cottage with my wife and parents in late November 2011. The cottage itself is in a great location, on the edge of Rotorua so away from the hussle and bussle in town.
The cottage itself is well equiped and furnished and probably looks even better than the photos on the website. The highlight of the accomodation is its setting on the lake. The views are stunning.
However, the real benefit of this cottage is Mike abd Heather, the owners. On our first night Mike came a talked us through an itinerary and helped to book our excursions which were all very good. They really couldnt do enough to help and it realy ensured that we made the most of our time there.
Response from Heather & Mike - 12/10/2011
Thanks James for your comments. We enjoyed your company one evening. Hope you have a mild winter and that we see you again.

Cottage by the Lake Rotoroa
beautiful setting with amazing sunrise views. Condition facilities in the house were very good and we apprreciated the wood for the fireplace during the freezing winter evenings.
Only problem we had was with the heating in the main bedroom (room facing the lake) and the electric blanket on the right hand side of the double-bed (opposite the window) which did not work.
Beautiful spot with top notch service
We had such a good stay, the cottage had everything we needed and was in such a wonderful spot... the service was incredible as well, providing baby sitters and flexibility with the children. Recommend to anyone. Thanks!

Beautiful Cabin on the Lake
We fell in love with the house on the lake. The interior and exterior are fabulous and the back garden should be featured in a magazine. For the price of a hotel room we were able to enjoy our own private home slightly away from the "smell" of Rotorua but so close you were there in 10 minutes. We went in Winter and would love to return in the Summer. Heather and Mike were great hosts and really had great input of where to go and what to see in our limited time there. Having the dock on the lake was great since we are bird watchers and the black swans were very photogenic as was the lake and island in the middle. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone from honeymooners to families with kids.
Check in process and assistance with reservations and information about Rotorua was excellent. Location of the cottage is superb, great views and convenient location for amenities.

Facilities and location of the house are very good. In a quit environment we had a superb holiday in a relaxing atmosphere.
Excellent high quality experience ***
Wonderful location, in a beautifully presented & prepared cottage/house. The hosts were fabulous & very helpful. Would highly reccomend.
We rented Nicara Lakeside Cottage for four nights and found it to be just perfect for our needs, it was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The cottage is beautifully situated in pretty gardens overlooking the lake. Mike and Heather the owners who reside four doors away in Nicara Lodge were very friendly and hospitable, inviting us to join them and their lodge guests for delicious canapes and wine. They also are incredibly helpful in giving the best advice in how to spend your time in the Rotarua area and also know the best restaurants. It was a pleasure to meet Mike and Heather and we thank them for making our stay so special.
Response from Heather & Mike - 01/16/2011
We also enjoyed meeting Mike & Jill. Hope you may return.
We stayed at Nicara Cottage for two weeks in November 2010 and had the mst wonderful time. Heather and Mike were the perfect hosts helping us to plan day trips and telling us all about the history of the area.
The cottage was very comfortable and had all the facilities we needed to make the holiday a relaxing trip. The view of the lake was excellent and having breakfast on the patio enjoying the view was a mroning favourite for the family.
thank's very much Heather and Mike for the Great Holiday :)

A Most Memorable Stay
We recently stayed at Nicara Lakeside Cottage while on holiday in New Zealand and we can't recommend it highly enough. The setting was absolutely beautiful, nestling right on Lake Rotorua, and the emenities were everything we could have wished for. Living in such a comfortable setting made our holiday memorable. Mike and Heather made our holiday even more enjoyable with their assistance in directing us to the many wonderful attractions of the area as well as fine restaurants.

This was the ideal set-up for us, with two small toddler boys. Amazing garden for them to explore, their own beach and an immaculate, but comfortable, house for them to enjoy.
Handy to everything, this was the ideal spot for a family break. And the views and garden were just a delight to enjoy. Thank you Mike and Heather, your advice and information was invaluable.
Would highly recommend to any family looking for a break.
Response from Heather & Mike - 10/09/2010
Hope you are able to come again.
Relaxing break by the lake
Superb location, right on Lake Rotorua with its own private beach and jetty! Our two young boys loved being so close to the water and we enjoyed the wonderful sunrise views across the lake each morning.
The breakfast welcome pack and toiletries were a nice touch and we appreciated the suggested itineraries provided by Mike and Heather.
A great base from which to explore all that Rotorua has to offer!

While the whole experience was delightful, the early mornings looking across the the lake were my personal highlight. The unobtrusiveness and efficiency of our hosts also contributed to our relaxing stay. We may well return, although at a more welcoming time of the year with regard to the weather. Many thanks.
Response from Heather & Mike - 09/30/2010
Lovely family who experienced so much despite the weather.

We came to stay here for an early spring break. The cottage was very comfortable, spacious and well equiped. It was warm and especially nice to have a blazing fire every night. The outlook on the lake was beautiful and ever changing. There was a lovely private garden with a large deck which would make summer entertaing a breeze. The hosts were always ready to help with local knowledge. We were made very welcome
Response from Heather & Mike - 08/30/2010
Pleased the weather allowed you outdoors & the fire kept you warm inside. Heather
Relaxed and peaceful
After looking around for a quiet place to take my mother away to for the weekend after surgery I finally settled on Heather an Mikes Nicara lodge.
I wanted somewhere relaxed and peaceful for mum to take it easy and not have to think about anything.
Nicara was perfect.
We arrived on a stormy winter night, the heater was on, there was a hot water bottle in Mums bed and our hosts had even supplied breakfast.
Mike helped us with sightseeing itineraries and they even supplied a scrabble board for us to while away the lazy weekend while we looked out across the amazing view of lake Rotorua.
All in all this was a great experience and I have no problem recommending Nicara to anyone.
Thanks Heather and Mike.
Response from Heather & Mike - 08/23/2010
Thank you. We hope to see you & your mum back again
