About Ruhpolding:
Ruhpolding is in Bavaria, in the Upper Bavarian district Traunstein, located at an altitude of 625 to 1961 m. The spa and tourist town is on an area of 147.83 sq.km and has 6500 residents, making it a large but romantic and dreamy Upper Bavarian village offering lots of nature.
The town is a great place for any nature lover looking for wonderful landscape and typical Bavarian hospitality and gemütlichkeit to actively relax.
Ruhpolding offers a host of accommodations, from cozy private B&Bs; or vacation apartments to four-star hotels. Some 80 restaurants care for your well-being.
In winter, great ski runs and cross-country skiing slopes are available. The whole family can go curling or ice-skating in the skating rink or sledge-riding on the natural track. A ride on a horse-drawn sleigh is great fun for those looking for less exertion.
You needn’t be active in winter sports, you can also watch stars from all over the world compete in international winter sports events. The biathlon world cup annually takes place in Ruhpolding , drawing thousands of fans.
Many customs have remained intact. Heimatabende, farmer’s weddings and folk costume parades are a sight to behold. There is not only folklore, either: more than 200 km marked trails invite hikers on paths of different difficulty (marked in different colored signs).
Among the most popular destinations: the Rauschberg mountain (1672 m) offering great views, and with a cable car getting visitors in the midst of Alpine surroundings in just five minutes; the Unternberg with a double chair lift; the forest path to the baroque pilgrimage church Maria Eck with its monastery restaurant; the trail to the Staubbachfall waterfall; and the path to the idyllic Weitsee lake, the last of three bathing lakes belonging to Ruhpolding and among the warmest mountain lakes in Bavaria.
Interesting landscape with meadows of flowers and richly forested mountains, oftentimes reminiscent of the stage setting for a Operette musical drama, rustic-homely atmosphere, “luftbemalte” (decorated) houses, wooden balconies adorned with geraniums, baroque parish church, quaint pubs – all parts of what this Upper Bavarian town on the German Alpine Road has to offer.
The valley of Ruhpolding encompasses an area of 149 sq.km., making the community one of the largest of Bavaria in terms of area covered. Ruhpolding is richly blessed, but especially marked by the traditions which have been maintained.
The village of 6800 inhabitants offers its guests 6400 beds, from private quarters to luxury hotels, from nice farmsteads to vacation apartments – whatever a vacationer may desire.
Friends of the water will find theirs in the wave pool spa, the first of its kind in the Alps, and the wide open-air pools of different kinds. Farmer’s painting courses, the folklore museum in the hunting lodge and the museum of peasant sacred art with the largest parameter collection in Europe, the museum of woodworkers in the parish courtyard with extended open-air area, concerts in the spa gardens, dance in quaint cellars and to modern beats in hot discos, Alm-music and Alm-hut evenings on the Raffneralm and in the Unternberghof as well as plays staged by the Ruhpolding Farmer’s Theater add to the excitement.
The youngest guests are well cared for in the kindergarten, with children’s playgrounds, a fairy tale-park and affordable children’s dishes in most restaurants and pubs. For the developed taste of adults, the restaurants in town also offer culinary treats from both international and Bavarian cuisines.
Further facilities such as tennis courts (indoors and outdoors), horse riding stable and school, mini golf, 18-hole golf courses und more offer entertainment.
The Altes Schulhaus (former school) of Ruhpolding, which was rebuilt into a “Haus des Gastes” (guest’s house), is a particular attraction. This new meeting place for vacationers contains reading rooms, TV rooms and lecture rooms, all available to the spa guest from 9 a.m.- 10 p.m., daily.
The light mood and friendliness are character traits which have shaped Ruhpolding, the people, the churches and chapels, the landscape and the mood of the guests. This harmony of humans and nature has turned the Ruhpolding valley between Salzburg and Chiemsee into the paragon of holidays in the Bavarian Alps. – Ruhpolding is a real vacation, no matter the time of year.
Excursions:
Amusement (Fairy Tale) Park Ruhpolding
Located in one of the most beautiful natural landscapes, this park offers fun for the whole family thanks to its many attractions.
Rides on the dragon, comfortable rides with the Bockerlbahn, the dinosaur mountain, the “Kraxel-Max” climibing wall, box cars, and a Baby-Land for the smallest guests.
An essential ‘thing to do’ is the ride on the typical Bavarian “Bockerlbahn.”
The paradise of slides, consisting of four 50 m long slides might also be something for the whole family.
Also in the park, you can see the Crystal Mine of Ruhpolding. Having walked through the labyrinth of its shafts with movable mining scenes, you can try your luck searching crystals in the crystal water.
Many of the attractions in the park are covered, so that it’s worth a visit also when the weather is not the best.

Fun and Wellness in Vita Alpina
The Vita Alpina spa in Ruhpolding is a paradise for everybody looking for bathing fun and sauna pleasure.
The ‘marine waves’ have been its trademark from the opening of this, Germany’s first, wave pool, but it’s become much better yet after its reconstruction.
Vita Alpina combines the fun and healthy elements to a fantastic free time attraction for all lovers of the wet element.
Besides the wave, there is now also the “primal pool,” an outdoor pool with a size of 175 sq.m., filled with 33C hot water. The various water jets, showers and falls are a true pleasure for body and soul.
For the younger ‘wave riders’, there are different water playgrounds and the giant water slide with fascinating water and light effects.
The new sauna landscape of the Vita Alpina is an oasis of wellness without compare, offering steam and Finnish sauna, Aroma and Brechel bath (rustic tiled oven sauna), recovery in the samarium as well as warm benches and a hay tiled oven.
For chill-out in between, there are rest and meditation rooms, the mountain views from which let everyone’s thought just get dreamy, or there are refreshing drinks at the bar.

Children’s World (Kinderland) Ruhpolding
In 2003, Ruhpolding was awarded the title of “Kinderland-Ort” (children’s world town) as first Upper Bavarian town.
It has also passed the renewed testing in June 2006 and was awarded “five teddies.”
Amongst the many criteria that have to be passed for this award are day care for children and special children’s menus in the restaurants.
It is not only a matter of quality standards, of course. Families also have to really feel well, and Ruhpolding gladly obliges.
Thus, the town is an ideal vacation destination for families with children. Our partner companies: : Kinderland-ErlebnispartnerWellen-/Erlebnisbad Vita Alpina Holzknechtmuseum Freizeitpark Ruhpolding RauschbergbahnKinderland-GaststättenWindbeutelgräfin Rauschberghaus Fischerwirt Kurhaus
