This is the second time we stayed at Garey's Dear Haven and we will continue to stay here for years and vacations to come. The house is well kept and plenty big for our 5 person family. This property is also pet friendly. The drive way is steep and does require a 4-wheel vehicle if you plan to visit in the winter. When our truck got stuck in the drive way on our way out of town due to snow, the Condotel personnel were so generous as to send a crew to come help us get the truck unstuck. We had a great time in Ruidoso and we will visit again!

This is a wonderful cabin! Three of us came here for the Thanksgiving holiday. We couldn't have been happier with a place to call home for three days. Everything about Gary's Deer Haven is remarkable. Great layout, comfortable living and sleeping areas, well-equipped kitchen; a front and back porch to enjoy the views, a nice hot tub with outdoor TV. We had 7 deer come up to the back porch one morning, and a downy woodpecker sat on a windowsill to say hello. The fireplace is a cozy touch, and we were impressed that a Wii unit is provided, along with VCR tapes of many popular movies just in case you're snowed in and in the mood. We used the Wii unit to connect to amazon Prime through the Internet and we watched several episodes of a popular TV series.
We took along our insulin dependent cat, who immediately felt at home and was quite disappointed when he learned we weren't staying forever. He actually went out on the porch to greet the deer, who seemed both interested and impressed with this harmless little mountain lion.
Indeed, the driveway up to the garage was our first adventure. While the driveway had been cleared, there was still snow and ice in spots, and the Toyota Highlander made it only halfway up before she would go no more. After several attempts and the aid of kitty litter, we succeeded and slapped high-fives all around. If you are going in the winter, it is true that vehicle with 4-wheel drive is recommended.
We are already looking at the calendar for another chance to get back to this cabin. While we usually like to try new places, you just can't beat perfection, and that is what Gary's Deer Haven has to offer.

We absolutely loved our stay at Garey's. The house was perfect for our family's ski trip for spring break. We looked forward to coming "home" each night for dinner and some relaxation in the hot tub. Our girls (ages 12 and 8) loved all the deer activity. One night we had 12 deer at the cabin all at the same time! The house had everything we needed and was adorably decorated. The split floor plan was perfect for our group. The only things I can even think about for improvement (and these are really no biggies) would be (i) to add blinds to the kitchen and master bath windows (ii) the matresses were a bit hard, even the kiddos complained, and (iii) the water temperature was difficult to regulate while showering. We had a great time and loved Ruidoso and Garey's Deer Haven.

All of us really enjoyed staying at Deer Haven. It was clean and big with lots of space for my two grandkids to relax and have snacks. It had the comforts of being in our home. We enjoyed having the kitchen and washer and dryer. The kids enjoyed seeing the deer and turkeys come to the back porch every morning.

What a great time this was, the house was awesome, situated on a hill so make sure you have 4X4 or all wheel drive or you wont make it up in the snow. Kids had a great time feeding the deer and exploring the wooded yard. the Fire place set the mood for us everyday and made the living room the meeting place for our entire family. feeding the deer was another great experience for my kids, thank you for having the feed there. We had some issues with the garage door opener not working, the hard water making the dishwasher useless (highly recommend a water softener) and the master bedroom needed the space heaters to stay warm at night, but all of those things were easily overlooked. I would recommend Garey's Cabin to all as an excellent place to stay! Since we visit Ruidoso about every other year, it is high on our list for a repeat!
Great Place to Stay!

We had a wonderful time staying at Garey's Deer Haven. The cabin is beautiful and very cozy. Short drive to Ski apache or back to town to shop. The only complaint we had was after a long day of skiing we wanted to soak our sore muscles in the hot tub, but it wouldn't get hot enough to sit in until 2 days later. The deer would come right up to the back door, the kids loved that. Can't wait to go back!
Loved the House and all the Deer it really is a haven.

This was our 3rd summer to stay at Garey's Deer Haven, and it truly feels comfortable to be there. It's secluded enough for privacy and quiet times, yet close enough to town to eat out, etc. We love the back porch for its serenity and for deer watching. The hot tub is a nice bonus! And, having wireless internet and allowing pets makes it the perfect spot for our family! We hope to return in 2013!
Great location, great cabin - fun for people of all ages!!!

We had a great time. The location was perfect - close to the ski slopes. At the same time we had privacy and enjoyed deer and turkeys in the morning. There were three bedrooms and five TVs - we did not have to fight for th eremote!!! The hot tub was very much appreciated after a day of skiing.
