Description from the manager
The River Retreat is a beautiful home in the Upper Canyon located right on the river. It has an open den and kitchen with a wood burning fireplace. There is a huge master suite upstairs which has a Jacuzzi tub, separate shower, dressing area and it's own wood burning fireplace. There are approximately 30 windows to enjoy the trees and river views. This house is a three bedroom, two bathroom home. It has two wrap around decks over the river - you can be grilling a steak and fishing for trout at the same time. The sleeping arrangements will accommodate up to six people. This location is wonderful with a pretty creek running just behind the house. However, the accomodations leave much to be desired. The pots and pans were very scratched up, to the point that we didn't feel safe using them. The linens were tattered and the mattresses were not comfortable. This was our 2nd time to stay at this house. The first time was much more enjoyable. A lot of updating needs to be done to this location to justify the cost/rent.

River Retreat is a great location on the river. We are disappointed that your second stay with us was not as enjoyable as your first. Over time each and every unit needs updating, now and again. We strive to take inventory of linens and kitchen supplies at least once a year; in which to help us put our best foot forward. We regret to hear that items such as linens and pots were not up to standard. During your next stay, please do not hesitate to phone us with any corrections that we may have missed. The location is the best attribute of this house - close to town - yet secluded - and in a nice part of town. The house itself is large enough for 2 families (+). The porches/decks over the river are perfect for hanging out outside. Kids can entertain themselves all day walking up and down the river.

When we arrived in Ruidoso and located the River Retreat house we had rented through Condotel we were first of all excited about its location! It was just perfect with the secluded area, the decks which literally are just above the edge of the Ruidso river where the deer come to drink morning and evening. Inside the house we found all the amenities we would need and then some! The open concept makes the interior seem extra spacious. There are windows, windows, windows...walls of windows. Of course the Condotel folks were helpful and courteous as always. We were sad to return the house key to them on departure day. We do hope to return to this particular house one day!
