Description from the owner
This quite, romantic, well-appointed home sits on the most sought-after stretch of Cayman Kai's Rum Point Beach, known for its velvety-soft, white sand, tranquil waters and cascading Casuarina trees. The condominium complex is located in the prestigious Retreat at Rum Point (comprised of just 23 units); the Retreat is the only complex that sits directly on Rum Point Beach. Rum Point Beach is the only open water beach on the north shore that is all sand - no rocky or ironshore entry. Here, on the quieter side of the island, the north shore, step out onto your 1,300-foot stretch of sea-grass-free, crystal-clear, calm open ocean waters where you...Read more

Gardner, KSFantastic week in the Cayman Islands!
Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in May 2013
We recently stayed in the retreat #33 and could not have had a better experience. The condo was beautifully appointed and we did not lack for anything. The kitchen had everything that you would need to fix a snack to a 5 course meal! We loved eating our breakfast and lunches out on the screened in balcony. The view of the ocean was breathtaking.
We also really enjoyed having Rum Point Beach just a few steps away from the condo. We always found a great place to "park" ourselves for the day weather in the sun or shade.
The owner of the condo Belle was fantastic to work with and checked on us several times to make sure all was OK during our stay. We would highly recommend staying at Retreat #33 . -

Our family has been taking our spring breaks in the Caribbean for the last 17 years. My wife and I have two daughters that are now college age and during spring breaks we have bounced from island to island in all those years.
I think that the family has agreed that the Grand Cayman Island rates at the top of our list. We have stayed on seven mile beach, West side, and now twice on the north side at "The Retreat" condo #33. I don't see us going anywhere else but "The Retreat "for some time. The experiences with the entire vacation from start to finish, both times, were beyond perfect. Is there such a thing as beyond perfect? Deal with the owners Kevin and Belle and you will see why we will continue to go back.
I am almost reluctant in giving this review because I don't want to compete with others for the use of Kevin and Belle's condo, but I want to share the great experiences that I and my family have had while spending our time there.
#33 is nicely decorated and stocked with all the amenities. Leave the beach towels at home! Did I mention the view from the screened in porch, master bedroom, or living room? Look at the pictures on the website and what you see is what you get, beautiful.
"The Retreat" has its own beach with plenty of beach chairs. Not once have we battled to get chairs, unlike large resorts where everybody is saving chairs and never using. If you get bored laying in the sun and need activities. Right next door is "Rum Point Resort", where you will find any activity under the sun available. Rum point also has several restaurants if you don't want to travel far. We did rent a car at the airport to get from point a to point B and a few other restaurants for evening meals.
There will definitely be a fifth trip to Grand Cayman and it will be spent at "The Retreat #33", if Kevin and Belle wish to have us back as guests!

This was our first trip to Cayman and we specifically chose the Rum Point area since it is far less of a tourist area than SMB. From our initial contact with the owner (Belle) we felt at ease with renting unit 33 at the Retreat. Belle ensures you will have all the information you require and is readily available to answer any question(s) you may email her with in the days and months leading up to your getaway. The condo itself was as promised, clean, well appointed, everything you will need for your stay. We surely put the blender to use! The proximity to Wreck Bar and Red Sail sports is literally next door however with the natural tree barrier it left us feeling as though we had our own private beach, and on many days we did! The walk to Starfish Point is beautiful, safe, and a great way to start your day. Please leave the Starfish alone when you see them though. The snorkelling right in front of the condo is good and you will see many fish. Of interest to us was conch, barracuda, spiny lobster, stingrays and of course the Dolphin that stopped in for a visit on Valentine's day, simply an incredible day! We did not see any Lion fish however I was told they have arrived in Cayman. Also, the Red Sail trip to Stingray Sandbar is a must do. If you find yourself debating over whether to rent this condo or not rest assured it is well worth it and one of the best locations in the entire building for watching sunset each night. We are already planning our return trip and will definitely stay in unit 33!

USAUtopia: Amazing Cayman Condo on the Beach
Left on 03/24/2011 for a stay in March 2011
This Rum Point Condo is a wonderful location on Grand Cayman. It has it's own private beach for those days we wanted to experience beach solitude and really get away. On the days we wanted a little social interaction and beach service, we could wander next door to another amazing beach complete with water rentals, food and drinks. There is a pier where boats come and wisk you away on snorkeling, scuba, booze cruise trips.
The condo overlooks the tranquil, white sand beach. It has an outdoor, screened in patio (beach view) where we chose to eat all of out meals and watch the sun set. The kitchen has everything you would need on a beach vacation and more. We were even able to make chocolate chip cookies (bowls, mixer, etc-very surprising). The bedrooms have spectacular high ceilings (25 feet?). Just as important, if not more, the condo was sparkling clean and was furnished with all the things you would expect and more (washer and dryer).
While looking at the lovely view, our conversation one evening was what we didn't like about the condo. The only thing was...it wasn't ours! -

Great unit in a great location. Everything you need to chill out and kick back. Well-equipped kitchen. On-site reps are extremely helpful & responsive without being intrusive. Friendly place. Great snorkeling. Away from the crowds.

My daughter, her husband, their son & I stayed in this lovely 2 bedroom two bath condo on the beach in Grand Cayman for ten days. The condo faces the most transparent ocean water that the mind can imagine. The colorful fish and coral are visible to the naked eye from the shore; but, why would you stay on shore when this warm water invites all your senses. You can almost taste the clean clear water as you drink it in with your eyes, hear the gentle waves breaking on shore and feel the water lap at your feet when you walk in the shallows.
The water is clear enough to snorkel just of the beach from the condo, from the peer just 50 yards down the beach of from any kind of water craft one can imagine from little paddle wheels that you rent on shore or from organized trips on power boats.
The sand is soft to the the touch and a great place to be buried up to your neck either by or with your grand child.
What a great memory. Think I'll check into going back soon. -

Condo #33 is absolutely fantastic and the location on the beach is great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to everyone. This condo is extra clean, beautifully furnished, kitchen is fully equipped with all of your needs and it has very nice linens, towels, and beach towels. The beach is beautiful, great snorkeling, and the short trip to stingray city was fantastic. There is a great restaurant next door that is very convenient. The private lanai is awesome for a private dinner with a gorgeous sunset! We definitely will stay again in Condo #33!

My stays at the Retreat #33 continue to amaze me. This was my second stay and it was one of the most relaxing vacations I've had ... since I was here the year before! The location is excellent with great restaurants nearby and the Rum Point beach is absolutely pristine. The people were very friendly and I always feel safe here. I visited friends staying in another unit. I was thrilled with my choice of #33 before and definitely after!! Our favorite "dining" experiences were had on our private lanai. What a fabulous view - and the sunsets... The kitchen was perfectly stocked. And everything was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. I certainly plan to return for a third time!
