Lindfield, United KingdomWonderful views and lovely hosts

We stayed 4 nights at Villa Du Fresne at the start of our New Zealand holiday. We couldn't have had a better start. A lovely well appointed bungalow with uninterrupted sea views. Maureen and Ron couldn't have been more helpful right from the initial booking request through to the stay at their delightful holiday home. Anyone who is looking for a comfortable home from home with wonderful views and hospitable hosts should look no further than Villa Du Fresne.

Wheelers Hill, AustraliaVilla Du Fresne , A top choice to start the New Year
Left on 02/11/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We arrived on New Years Day to a warm welcome from the hosts, Maureen and Ron, the room was large and self contained with lounge and small kitchenette. It had wide clean windows overlooking the most wonderful view of the bay. There was a small veranda with chairs and telescope and reading lamp. With suggestions from Maureen where to eat. A quick drive down to Russell for plenty of choice. We were only staying one night at this peaceful bed and breakfast, so made the most of our stay, stargazing the amazing clear sky after dark, and perusing the many interesting local historical and flying books found in the bookshelves . The bed was large and comfy Maureen had added special little touches in the bathroom with pretty lotions to use and a makeup facewasher which was fun and quirky addition. We were also able to borrow some beach towels and return later in the day. Our breakfast in the morning was taken outside on the lawn overlooking the sea view, and was very substantial including cheese and tomato on toast. We were offered some picnic food to take with us on our boat tour out in the Bay of Islands. This was a lovely tour on the Dolphin Seeker, and it did not disappoint. We had a good view of our accommodation from the boat. We felt our hosts were very caring well organised and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We really wished we could have stayed another night.

Hamilton, New ZealandSuperb views, property and hosts
Left on 01/26/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This really is an exemplary home from home. Maureen and Ron have thought of everything any guest could ever need. They are superb hosts. The property has the most stunning view over the Bay of Islands, every morning a pod of dolphins played in the bay, we found not one but two pairs of binoculars! There are wonderful walks close by and we came across neighbors who knew Maureen and Ron and they invited us in for wine and coffee! Truly a lovely welcoming community. We stayed for two weeks and the time just flew by...we highly recommend this little piece of paradise, you will be so happy you booked!

AucklandA Magical Stay and Gobsmacking Views
Left on 02/26/2012 for a stay in January 2012
This is a super base to explore the Bay of Islands; it was a real find and it's on our list of very special stays in New Zealand. From the moment we walked in we were looked after like best friends. It's so roomy, comfortable and every last detail has been thought through to deliver superlative self catering. It's the opposite of contemporary modern minimalist - instead cosy and characterful with excellent facilities, a lovely holiday space to be in. Perched on the side of Tapeka point, it has the most beautiful views of the glittering islands of the area, a fantastic beach that's just 2 minutes walk from the villa, and for those just wanting to laze and graze a cosy sunlounge that has some of the best views of the Bay of Islands. We loved it, Maureen and Ron have that knack of adding all the little touches and giving a very personal insight on all that's special in the area. Delightful.

Melbourne, AustraliaBest place to stay in New Zealand
Left on 11/09/2011 for a stay in January 2011
Long before we even got to the Villa du Fresne we already felt like friends. We got advise on what to see and do, got our Bay of Islands cruise booked by the host and really looked forward to finally getting there. It was the highlight of our New Zealand trip!
The house has just the most stunning views, everything you need is there, and it feels like a home, not a holiday rental, all thanks to the fantastic hosts. -

Munich, GermanyComfortable, beautifully situated at the seaside
Left on 10/25/2011 for a stay in January 2011
I stayed with Ron and Maureen already the third time (2011: January - April). The friends I have made in the Bay of Islands became theirs and some of their friends became mine. Russell is well situated to visit the beautiful center and north of the North Island. Best with a rental car you can park in front of the house. The house is very silent. The street is at some distance and the loudest sound you hear is the sea over which you have a wonderful view from the terrace. There you can have an undisturbed sun bath or a swim at a short distance at the beach. Ron and Maureen are warmhearted and experienced to deal with people of different nationality and character. They will take care of every problem you might have, if you ask them to do so. They are very eager not to disturb you. I have warmly recommended this vacation rental to some of my friends, who want to combine activity with seclusion.

This place has everything anyone could ever want on vacation.Apart from the magnificent views the villa has all the crockery, cutlery & kitchen accessories etc that you would ever need. With extremely comfortable lounge furniture and beds plus extreme cleanliness
we found it hard to find anything to criticise.Maureen & Ron are the ultimate hosts and nothing is too much trouble if you have a request. We have holidayed in many overseas countries but have not found a place with a better location, value for money or gracious hosts. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to any other people wether they are from NZ or overseas.I guess the best recommendation is we have now been back to stay 6 times! -
