First of all, before I even into the review of this property, it must be said that the managing company for this unique home(Russian river Getaways) went above and beyond at every turn. Whether it was a question about location or the 50th call about the size, location, internet, proximity to the water...Whatever I needed Josette was there to answer with kindness and patience...What a professional!! Thank you so much Josette!!!
Now the house. We loved it. My husband and I were looking for a place to celebrate our 22nd anniversary. Tree Top Log Cabin was exactly the thing we needed even if we didn't know it at the time. The house is cozy and has everything a little house should. There is a hot tub right in the middle of a 6 redwoods. My husband took advantage of that daily...It's unbelievable!!! There are decks all around the house and when are standing there looking up...you feel like you are in the middle of something much bigger than yourself. Thank you so much for sharing this house with with the world -

check in person was very rude says we have a code and we didn't. your computer was up and down and we didn't get all the info. your lady said we would be charged extra for her having to come in---very rude. we have already told all the vfw's and our local motorcycle club not to use you. we checked out early and dropped off the key at the office the night before and were called you couldn't find the key and we may be charged extra---what kind of people do you employ ?

This is a very unfortunate combination of events. We had several contacts with this gentleman, having to let him know about procedures and rules, which he did not appreciate. We also made some errors when giving him information and had some computer glitches, which he also did not appreciate. As far as the keys go, he did bring one set into the office and left one set at the house. The agent who accepted them did not note this in the reservation, which was his mistake. On their check-out day, the agent who was in the office did not know the keys were already accounted for, so he made a routine phone call to ask about the keys. We do let guests know that extra charges may apply if the keys are not brought back, otherwise we'd lose a lot of keys! The guest was understandably upset because his bringing the keys back had not been noted, and we apologize for this. -rkl

Perfect little place! We had 4 friends and it was a bit of a tight fit--cozy for sure! But the outdoor spaces provided plenty of room to spread out. Great Kitchen with far more than your average rental. Really felt like you were in the middle of te woods, far from everyone else--yet it's very close to town in case you need to run to the grocery store.

Felt like I was in the high sierras. The cabin is cozy, warm, very clean with a beautiful view of the trees. The cabin is not fancy so if you're looking for that, keep looking! However, the kitchen has everything you need to make meals, beds were comfortable and the place felt very private even with a neighbor next door. A very sweet place. I'd come back again without hesitation.

This is a great little cabin for a family. The only problem is that we rented it with two couples. The website does not say that in order to get to the second bedroom, you have to walk through the first one. There is no privacy for the first bedroom. We felt that was an important detail to disclose. Other than that, it was really a fantastic property and we really enjoyed our stay there.

We have added this detail to the website. Since the bedrooms are separated by a stairwell and bathroom, and have visual privacy, it didn't occur to us. Thanks for the feedback! -rkl

Loved it. We were under the impression that the back yard was enclosed, but that's a small matter.

We're glad these guests liked this home. When the yard of one of our homes is fenced, we say so on the house webpage, under amenities.

Palo Alto, CACozy, cute and secluded
Left on 06/07/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We stayed at the Treetop Log Cabin for two nights in april. This cabin is absolutely wonderful. The hot tub in the redwoods was amazing. The porch, kitchen and living room were roomy and everything was fully stocked, which was quite nice. It's in a very secluded location, yet it's close to all the amenities of both the river and the town. But above all - it's just so darn cute. Very nicely decorated, lots of charm and super cozy.
The only reason this cabin doesn't get 5 stars from our stay really just has to do with the heat - they have several electric heaters in the bedrooms, but for whatever reason it just didn't do the trick to keep us warm enough during the night and had a clicking noise. There is a woodstove, but of course we couldn't figure out how to make it work properly (city girls much?!) A pretty minor problem that likely won't affect most people - we're just sensitive to the cold (and it was chillier than most nights).
One other minor detail to note is that to get to the second or guest bedroom, you need to go through the main bedroom down the stairs. So - while I'm sure that is fine for most people, if you are wanting complete privacy in each room, it's worth noting that you have to enter one room by going through the main one. Certainly ideal for families with children. They are both connected to the same bathroom, which is small but functional. The bigger bathroom is upstairs and nice.
We overall really enjoyed our time there. It was incredibly relaxing - and honestly, there are few things in life better than sitting under the stars admist beautiful redwoods in a hot tub. Divine!
I would absolutely recommend this cabin to friends or family - especially if they know how to work a woodstove! I'm sure that would have made it 10x toastier and lovely than it already was. -

Stylish, warmth, abundance, secret, grand yet not overstated. These are some of the words that come to mind when asked to describe our stay at the "Tree Top Log Cabin".
Perched on a winding switch back, nestled in the woods, sits this quiet secret paradise. Watching the sun roll through the redwoods and oaks, observing the stars patterns move ever around from amongst the 'fairy ring' down the slope. Tending the fire in the stove. Smells of lillac, rosemary, sage, and that cool ocean wind, ever faintly rolling over the hill. These are some of my many splendid memories from a three night stay at this wonderful abode. I believe my spouse said it best, when we were packing to head back on our journey, and she looked at me with sad eyes and said, "cant we just live here darling".
If only for a moment, and only in a dream, we did. -

Light and airy cabin set on the wooded hillside. Very quiet location, excellent place to unwind! Cabin interior was very clean, and the layout surprisingly spacious considering how small it looks on the outside. Really loved the kitchen, great views looking out to the trees as you cooked. Arguably, the best feature is the hot tub, which is set in a circle of redwood trees just outside of the house! Very relaxing! They don't mention on the web page, but there is a small kayak and an inner tube that can be used.
Overall a very enjoyable experience, highly recommend. -

This was a perfect getaway. It was cozy and clean, and had all amenities desired, kitchen tools, grill, hot tub.
The location really makes you feel like you're tucked into the treetops. I found myself constantly sighing from the beauty of it all.
The staff at Russian River Getaways was also extremely helpful and friendly. The check-in/check-out process was extremely efficient. -

We were only able to stay for 2 days and wish we could have stayed a whole week! We had our little 9 month old with us and had a great relaxing, family time. We didn't get to enjoy the deck and bbq because of the weather, but we plan to definately be back for a longer stay in the summer!

The place was comfy, clean, and fairly well isolated from the neighbors.
