Almost everything was perfect my husband and myself rent many houses. He was absolutely thrilled with the house. I however was a little bit unhappy. The spa didn't have enough power in the jets and the banna slugs we're everywhere. The yard was small and a fence was being built next door so i didn't get to sleep in like i wanted to. The basement where the ping pong table is had alot of little slugs too, it was creepy to me.

We completely understand wanting to sleep in on your vacation and we're very sorry about the construction next door but there isn't anything we can do about those sorts of things, unfortunately.
The banana slugs are part of life here. Again, not much we can do about them either. Our cleaning crew do their best to get rid of them prior to your stay. Cherry Hill is very cute, cozy, and central to everything here on the river but we are in the middle of a redwood forest and many creatures live with us here.
We will be sure to let our hot tub person know about the jets. At least that we can take care of!

We would definitely come back: it was a wonderful place to have the dogs, particularly the deck/outdoor kitchen/hot tub area where we were all able to completely relax. The amenities were better than expected, and the home was practically immaculate when we got it.
One thing I was a little concerned about before arrival was a/c--the weekend we were there it was over 90 degrees in town, yet inside the home never got above 70! We were perfectly comfortable the entire time.Response from Russian River Getaways - 05/22/2013

The beauty of living underneath the redwoods is how cool the homes stay even when it's hot outdoors. We're so happy you enjoyed Cherry Hill and hope to see you soon!

Cherry Hill was close to everything. We went to winerys, saw a whale and seals at the mouth of the river, wandered through town and went to Santa Rosa for beer. We even had friends over for dinner a couple of times and the kitchen had everything we needed for indoor and outdoor cooking. The front porch was nice for reading and the outdoor hot tub was relaxing after a long day. We even got in a game of ping pong on the undersized table downstairs.
The house is pet friendly so we brought a crate(required) and let our Lab run on the dog friendly beach. The area around the house has a nice loop for a walk. All in all the house worked perfect for us and we would rent it again. -

This is a nice home with plenty of space for 2-4 adults, an updated and well-stocked kitchen, and very clean. We went for a holiday weekend and enjoyed a lot of the perks (Hdtv, Wii, ping pong table). It was a little chilly, so I was glad I brought some extra blankets. The back patio is small but very nice. We were able to easily use the grill and the hot tub is easy to access and clean.
A little expensive for the amount of space, but on par with many of the other RRG homes. I would stay here again, just for a longer period of time!Response from Russian River Getaways - 03/03/2013

This house has plenty of heat sources, so I'm confused about the chill, unless they were maybe not all turned on.

We came to Ca to retrieve our 12 week old puppies. Cherry Hill was the perfect venue for that purpose. They had a very nicely appointed kitchen and a lovely fenced yard and a hot tub. Perfect spot for puppy bonding. I also really liked that the rental company offers crates as it is difficult to keep up with two pups indoors! :)
Thank you for a lovely experience.
Hahahaha on the "stainless steel" fridge btw!!! :)

all equipment worked well, as i said very quiet area, stairs are difficult to traverse if you are unstable, could not figure out how to use the printer to my laptop no information on connecting, TV worked great, hot tub was nice and bbq worked fine. Single beds could use an upgrade a bit worn for my liking.
Went to the Jazz/Blues festival and had a great time in town will be doing it again!! -

Highly recommend Cherry Hill for a place to get away from the city. We chose this rental because it is pet-friendly and it certainly delivered. It was a perfecrt place to bring our dog and two teenaged boys. (The ping-pong table and Wii were a big plus!)
Guerneville is a lovely town within walking distance as was the river.
We discovered the Redwood National Monument on our last day, so don't miss this breathtaking place. Fun things to do locally are winetasting, the beach (12 miles away) zip-lining through the redwoods and canoeing down the Russian river. Very convenient and charming. -

Cherry Hill is the perfect place if you want to spend your free time at Russian River. We were there for Memorial Weekend this year and we've loved it!! There was everything inside - from a simply tissue by the cleansers, by the tableware, even by some food, to whole equipment that you need to live or lodge (except one thing that we couldn't find - the stainer ;) ). The design is great and warm. Home is very clean. Bedrooms are very cozy (not so big but there were even little walking closets). Beds are very comfortable. Kitchen is perfect - excellent quality appliances, sufficiency counter-top and cabinetry space, breakfast nook, pantry. And.. we've also really enjoyed our evenings in the hot tub. Home is located close to almost everything (there is even Safeway with Starbucks coffee a few blocks away).
We highly recommend this place!!Response from Russian River Getaways - 06/25/2012

Upon arrival, we were very impressed that the property was so clean and well organized. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the pots and pans you need to prepare a good family meal. Great spot because it is just a short walk to downtown and the Russian River. Nice and quiet neighborhood with very friendly neighbors. Next time I visit, I will make it a point to seek out more of their rental properties.

The hot-tub was very finicky, it's temperature would go up and down on it's own and the jets were weak but other than that we had a great stay and would definitely do it again. We may try a different rental next time because the hot-tub is a valuable part of our vacation.

The house is comfortable and has most amenities that you'd need for a stay. It's very close to our family summer home, where we all stayed when we were kids. We no longer own the home. (This was a cousins family reunion.)
In terms of what could change at Cherry Street:
Kitchen: A teakettle would be very helpful for heating water for tea. A dish drainer would also be useful - we discovered that the dishwasher washed dishes for over an hour, which is very wasteful of water and energy. The stove burners worked sporadically; we had to use the lighter to light most of them. The thermostat in the kitchen served no purpose that we could identify.
Bedrooms: Neither of the threshhold lights worked. The TV instructions in the Queen bedroom were not helpful; we couldn't get it to work.
Living Room: The heater has mind-boggling instructions. We were afraid to try using it.
General: The directions to the house would have been easier to follow if you had mentioned that the street numbering is out of sequence on Cherry; the house isn't where you would expect its number to be. We drove past it three times before finding it. Also, for keyless entry homes it would be a vast improvement if the door entry code was on the same sheet as the directions to the house.
The collection agency messages on the phone were embarrassing for both the owner and the guests.Response from Russian River Getaways - 05/12/2012
Manager
We're glad you had a good stay at Cherry Hill, but we wish you had called us with your issues. We could have resolved all of them. There is a dish drainer (stored under the sink, if it's not on the counter), and the owner will purchase a tea kettle asap. We've checked and the stove is working well, so this was probably user error. It's a high end an electronic ignition gas stove and has instructions clearly shown on the knob. The thermostat in the kitchen works the heater in the dining/living room (also functioning properly upon inspection), so this is also user error or misunderstanding. The batteries in the threshold lights have been replaced. The owner will review the TV instructions to make sure they are adequate. The heater in the living room/dining room runs by the thermostat in the kitchen (mentioned above). Please call us next time so we can help you figure this out. There are no collection agency calls related to this home or owner, so we don't know why there would be messages of this sort. Vacation rentals are not main addresses, so they mostly do not get these sorts of calls. Someone's made an error here, and we'll try to correct it, but we just don't have control over everything! We were not aware that the numbers were out out sequence, so we'll need to check on that. We generally do note this. As I said earlier, almost all of this could have been resolved if you had called us, so next time, please pick up the phone! --General Manager

I have wanted to take a vacation including my 3 year old daughter Joy (golden retriever) for some time now. With Russian River Getaways, I was able to find Cherry Hill. This home was a pleasure from the minute I walked onto the spacious front porch. It rained most of the weekend, but this awesome porch enabled us to enjoy the rain and be outside at the same time! Inside, Cherry Hill was already warmed up for us so the cold was not an issue. The kitchen had all the appliances we could dream of and made it easy to save cash by eating in every night. The house was compact, but not so compact that I couldn't enjoy some time to myself reading out in the living room while my partner slept in or cooked a meal in the other parts of the house. The only drawback was issues with the power. One night the microwave (restaurant size XL) blew the fuse on the circuit breaker, but it was easily remedied. On the last night the power went out in the whole neighborhood, but Rrgetaways and the owner have comp'd us another night for our next stay. One more drawback was the amount of traffic outside which consisted of some noisy locals. All that aside, it was a tranquil and oh so comfortable spot for a nice weekend getaway. I expect to return to Cherry Hill on a regular basis due solely to the high level of comfort the home afforded.

The home was fantastic. Had all the amenities. Was clean. Didn't smell like smoke. Many of these cabin rental smell like smoke.
The location was accessible.
Amenities were great.
The property was great. I thought the price was a little pricey, i.e. $550 for two nights.
I would recommend this Rental to a friend with a recommendation to search earlier for an equal property with a better price.

Cherry Hill is a sweet house, and we're glad you liked it. Our rates are based on the fact that our homes are the higher end homes in the area and that we provide a high level of service, including a 24/7 emergency line. That said, we do have smaller, less expensive properties, but, with vacation rentals, you get what you pay for! -rkl

Our stay at the Cherry House in the town of Guerneville was a vacation we will talk about for years. The house was perfect for a two person getaway. Everything you needed and more was supplied. The kitchen and bath were very nice, although the decor and other rooms are a little dated. With this said, The Cherry House will win you over with it's charm, quite neighborhood and friendly neighbors.
Thank you to Josette at Russian River Getaways for her insight on the rental property. The house was a nice fit for our needs. One note though, I think it is a bit too far to walk to town from the house.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the house in the town of Guerneville. I would use Russian River Getaways in the future and tell friends about you and our relaxing stay. -

Our family of two adults, one child, and a dog had a wonderful stay at Cherry Hill. We felt right at home here, and loved seeing redwoods in every direction. The large front porch was a lovely place to read and relax at any time of day, and we enjoyed the back patio and hot tub, too. We had an awful lot of fun in the creek, which had lots of water this year.

This cabin was just the right size, with the right amenities for a family of four, and had a very nice patio for the hot tub. It was a great walk across the road to the river and a short drive into town. We had a nice weekend.
My only negative is that, despite the cleanliness of the place, this pet-friendly rental was unfriendly to my husband's allergies. Phooey, because I would have rented here again. -

This house is comfortable enough, but the bedrooms are tiny, and there is no master bathroom or bathtub. There's not much of a yard, so plan to walk your dogs when nature calls.
The back deck is small, but cozy and kind of adorable with all the plants and lushness. It's very cool and shady, and when it's hot in Sonoma County that can be quite a relief.
It's located on a fairly densely populated country road. There are houses all around, so don't expect too much quiet. -

We were given a refund which was nice and some compensation for what we felt was a misrepresentation. The cottage is a fair way away from a "party" beach. We had to drive to family friendly beaches in the area. We liked Guerneville a lot and the Monte Rio beaches were nice. Only two burners on the stove worked when we were there. The hot tub is hard to get to work to the right temperature and pretty shallow. We were very disappointed to find dog hair all over the house. Other than those things the stay was nice. The cottage is cute and fairly child friendly. There are two glass tables with sharp corners which you have to be aware of and the stairs to the front porch are really steep, but there is a gate you can rig shut to protect kids from falling. You do have to mind the front porch a story up as the siding is weak. Our kids really enjoyed the stay. The beds were comfortable and it is in a quiet area as long as the neighbor is done rebuilding the house across the street!

These guests were given a partial refund because of cleaning issues, not because of any misrepresentation. We give the distance to the beach on our website and it is accurate. However, there do tend to be a lot of teenagers on this beach during the summer, so we recommend that families with young children go to Johnson's Beach, a three minute drive.
As for the near-by "house construction" it is interior work that does not create noise or dust and takes place only during the week. Not a single guest has noted any disturbance other than this one.
The hot tub is a standard size, easy to use, and there is no problem with the stove burners.
Really hard to say where all these complaints came from---wish all the happy guests had done reviews, but that seems to be the way of the world.
