Roseville, Casilence is golden
Left on 04/03/2013 for a stay in July 2013
This small, secluded wood and log cabin is ideally suited for those who enjoy peace and quiet. Well furnished, well equipped, comfortable bed accompany a geography which is rather hilly for much hiking but great listening to the wind in the trees, observing various species of animmal, charcoaling and enjoying a cocktail or two among verdant growth.
Actually price to value is greater than most places we have visited. We highly recommend this property to those seeking quiet surroundings and a fair degree of seclusion.
Funny thing, were used to Roseville, Ca water so the drinking water there-whatever the source was really tasty.

Neat. Quaint. Delightful. Relaxing. Peaceful. My friend and I really enjoyed Dreamcatcher. Everythhing was very clean and in working order. New flat panel TV. The hot tub was great. My only suggestion would be to repair/expand the deck's low voltage lighting system. The solar powered lights really don't work too well in a redwood forest.

this is the last time i will rent from russian river getaways. this is the second time i have had broken items in the rental with no offer for recourse or discount. the first time it was the hot tube, this time it was the oven. it completely takes the fun out of having a cabin. not to mention the surrounding area of this location was shady, unsafe, with many street drifters and shaby shacks, my boyfriend didn't feel comfortable with me even going for a run alone. it was incredibly disappointing, over priced and with little to no home supplies at the location (plates, towels etc).
Response from Russian River Getaways - 10/18/2012
Manager
Things do occasionally go wrong with things at vacation rentals, and the best we can do is fix them as quickly as possible. If a guest contacts the office and asks, we will consider discounting for failure of a major appliance, but we do not track guests down to offer discounts. Sometimes guests think there should be more of something than a vacation rental typically provides, but we'll be contacting this guest to find out what they believe was missing from the house, and we'll make sure it is re-stocked. As for location, the River is the River, with its fair share of interesting people and properties. It sounds as though this is just not the right area for these guests, if they don't like a little funk. And, of course, a house in the redwoods might be expected to be shady. -Rachel, general manager

San FranciscoBeautiful house but the rental agency sucks
Left on 09/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012
What a shame. Russian River Getaways really makes the whole rental process so tedious. So many forms to sign and print and reference. So much unnecessary hassle! They also have dozens of ways they can charge you extra fees. We felt like we wee walking on egg shells the whole time. Isn't that what a deposit is for?? They also post signs all throughout the house reminding you of all the ways they can charge you those extra fees. Nice touch. Loved the house so much but won't be going back because of the rental agency. Simply don't want to support them.
Response from Russian River Getaways - 09/27/2012
Manager
Thank you for your feedback...Like any rental agency, we have a rental contract and informational paperwork on each house. The signs in thethe house are meant to be helpful. We do have to charge sometimes for certain extras, such as a guest not taking out the trash, because we then have to pay an outside vendor to correct the situation. We think it's only fair to help guests remember what we need them to do to keep things running smoothly so that they're not surprised.

Dreamcatcher was everything it claimed. It was a beautiful, comfortable stay. The hot tub was in a lovely, private location amongst the redwoods. So much better then any hotel. Made me fantasize about having my own cabin one day. There was one thing missing, an iron with board as listed. Wasn't the end of the world, but we had a wedding and were sort of counting on it to be there.

The cabin was sweet and tastefully decorated with all the amenities we needed. The hot tub was in perfect working order and clean. Beautiful, quiet grounds with gorgeous redwoods surrounding the property. My suggestions for the property: we needed a small table by the grill to place our goodies while we were grilling and a light out there so we could see our food when we grilled after dark. We also would have benefited from a hiking map of the nearby area since we wanted to take walks but had no idea where to go. Overall the experience was relaxing and romantic. Just what we were looking for!

We found that this cottage had everything we needed for a home base as we visited the wineries in the Russian River Valley. It is perfectly romantic for a couple. We loved the privacy of the hot tub and the stillness of the forest setting. I would caution future visitors to shop for groceries in Guerneville, though, and not wait until you get to Cazadero since the general store there is quite small and expensive, though the young woman who worked there was friendly and helpful. The distance of the location from wineries around Healdsburg is not to be discounted if you choose Dreamcatcher: almost an hour's drive.

Another wonderful weekend getaway, thanks to Russian River Getaways. My boyfriend and I stayed for a long weekend and were very pleased with our new cabin choice (our first stay was at the Laughlin Estate, also a great cabin but too big for just a couple). Short of buying a cabin yourself, this is absolutely the most ideal escape in the woods that you could ask for. The place was clean, cozy and simply beautiful. The deck was by far the best part, complete with a big hot tub and comfy lounge chairs. The property is a fairly steep hill surrounded by beautiful redwoods. There are neighbors within ear-shot on one side but the deck area is on the opposite side and pretty well concealed by trees. I should advise that if you stay at the cabin in early summer, be sure to bring bug spray and/or citronella candles because the mosquitoes were hungry. A couple more fans would be nice as the cabin got pretty hot during the day but we stayed outdoors most of the time anyway. Besides my city-girl qualms with mother nature, our stay was rejuvenating, comfortable, woodsy perfection. In fact, my boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves so much that we're taking another long weekend to stay at the Tree Top Log Cabin (Dreamcatcher was booked). Can't wait!

Left on 05/30/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My husband and I stayed at the Dreamcatcher for a long weekend. First, I should mention what our expectations were going into the weekend. We had decided to splurge a bit for our anniversary celebration (total cost for 3 nights was $791). We knew it wouldn't be fancy, but we were looking for a quiet, clean, comfortable, and peaceful place in the woods.
First of all, this place has great potential. It's located in the redwoods on a country residential road up a mountain. As stated in other reviews, neighbors and their dogs make themselves well-known, but the porch area does feel a bit more secluded and private. The cabin really could be super cute and cozy, but here are our issues we had... The cabin is under a canopy of trees, so I wouldn't expect a ton of direct sunlight to come in, but the lighting inside is incredibly poor. The place feels very dark and dingy, and better lighting would be super helpful. One of the other first things we noticed was the smell. Other reviews have stated it is a smokey smell. That may be, but we recognized it as a very old musty smell, definitely not a smokey smell. This smell is deep seeded in the couch and bed linens, all of which seem aged and dirty. The bed linens, aside from the sheets, smelled old and unwashed. (I tried hard not to think about this while sleeping in the bed) We also noticed cobwebs and obvious dust on and around windows and ceilings. We were really looking forward to hanging out on the deck, which also has amazing potential. The loungers have filthy pads on them. For all the moisture they receive in the redwoods, these pads should be waterproof and easily wiped off. We had to put sheets over the pads to use the loungers. Also, the charcoal grill is locked in place on the driveway, not on the porch as in the picture. This is just an inconvenient location. One other thing I should mention is the leaky faucet in the bathroom. I saw a previous review that mentioned this problem and and management commented that it was fixed. It is not fixed.
To conclude, I probably would have rated this property closer to 3 stars if it was half the price (preferably less than half). For the price paid, they really need to do some basic cleaning and updates. The pics are the same house, but look much better and well-kept than the actual property. I have rented several houses in the last couple years all of which were cheaper than this one, and much cleaner and well-kept.Response from Russian River Getaways - 07/16/2012
Manager
Wow, this seems so contradictory to most people's experience of this home that I almost don't know what to say. The cabin does has the smokey smell that any small home heated with a woodstove has. The sheets are not old and certainly not un-washed. We could not find dust, but there are sometimes cobwebs as they don't always show up well in the daytime while the cleaner is there. The pads are of the under the trees variety and can be moved, where the chair underneath will be in the same state. The grill has been moved and locked in place because of a concern about fire danger. Things sometimes break again after they have been fixed, and this is the case with the faucet. It has again been fixed with no further problem. -Rachel, general manager

Love the Dreamcatcher, it was rustic and definitely relaxing! This wooden gem was really cute and had wood burning stove that kept us warm and cozy. The hot tub came in handy after doing a long, hard bike ride along Kings Ridge. It was awesome to just relax and be surrounded by trees.
I would (and have) recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and quite getaway in the redwoods. I would love to come back in the summer to hang out on the deck and use the hammock :)
The only minor issue was that it was hard to find the light switch to the bathroom. Had to read the house book throughly to find it.Response from Russian River Getaways - 03/18/2012

Left on 10/27/2011 for a stay in October 2011
I wish I could give this place a 5-star review and it could have easily received that. The setting in the redwoods was amazing, the cabin was really comfortable and mostly clean, and this place had everything we needed - a full kitchen, washer & dryer, etc. To top it off, it was dog-friendly and we were thrilled to be able to bring our dog on a trip for once. The keyless check-in was also very convenient.
As soon as you enter this place, you smell the smoke from the many fires I'm sure have burned in the fireplace. Not a big problem, but if you do not like the smell of wood smoke this is not the place for you.
The bedroom upstairs, as it turned out, was very dusty. Both my wife and I have dust allergies so we both woke up with itchy, sore throats and runny noses after the first night and this did not go away for the remainder of our trip. We noticed cobwebs on the ceiling near the bed. Had this dust been cleaned up our experience may have been 5 stars.
The only other notes I have for anyone looking to visit Dreamcatcher is to be aware that unless you have an extremely well-trained dog, you will not be able to let it off leash outside because the neighbor's dogs will bark at just about any noise. We are dog people and they did not bother us, but if this is something that bothers you then you should know.
Also - and this is not related to the stay - if you bring your dog, be aware that dogs are restriced at most beaches and even on a lot of trails in the area, so while it was great being able to bring our dog it also kept us from doing the hiking & kayaking we had planned on.
Hot tub in the redwoods was a major plus.
Again, a really wonderful place with just a few issues. 100 times better than a generic hotel room. You feel comfortable just hanging out and relaxing and will not feel trapped if you simply decide to stay here instead of going out.Response from Russian River Getaways - 01/26/2012

We're glad this folks enjoyed the house so much. We found no visible dust, but for people who are allergic to dust (like me!), a rustic cabin may never be clean enough because it has unfinished wood and nooks and crannies. This home is in the woods and there are spiders and spiderwebs. We try to get all of them, but they are not always visible in daylight cleaning hours, especially against wood paneling. We do the best we can! We do have some places where dogs are allowed off leash; see our dog page: www.russianriverdogs.com.

I flew from Florida to spend a few days with my oldest and dearest friend, who lives in the San Fran area. This home is magical. The coastal redwoods are so magnificent, the granite filled mountains, the river valley and the short trip to the pacific was incredible. Everyone we met was so friendly, cute little towns near by like Duncan's Mill and Bodega and we happened across the most scenic restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of dinning in; I recommend to anyone to have a glass of Port while watching the sunset over the pacific, from the river's End Restaurant in Jenner. Then drive 20 min back to the cabin and soak in the hot tub. Sasha, the massage therapist who came to the cabin was great and so convenient. As we watched the morning fog burn off of Sunrise Mountain one last time on our morning out we vowed to make a return trip.

The location proved to be ideal for venturing to the Pacific Coast, hiking various trails, wine tasting, experiencing the Redwoods and having the opportunity to relax in a tranquil location. The hot tub was welcomed after intense hiking. Raymond's Bakery is a short drive from the cabin and we took advantage of this at the start of our days. Great baked goods! Dreamcatcher was absolutely great and is the place to go if you're looking for a quiet get-away. The scenery is gorgeous and the cabin is very picturesque. Although, like one reviewer mentioned, you can see the neighbor's entire property from the backside of the house. A quick note for those with dogs. The property, as stated, is fenced in. However, it is fenced with wire. So, smaller dogs (30lbs and under)can easily slip in and out of the fence at most points. Therefore, I did have to keep my dogs leashed while outside on the property.

Had a great time at Dreamcatcher. Loved the lofted bedroom, cabin was stocked w/ plenty of pots/pans/silverware, loved the hammock and deck area in general. Never minded having neighbors nearby! Built a fire most nights, enjoyed relaxing early mornings in the hot tub, played board games and cards late into the night. Wood interior is gorgeous. The trees provide a lot of shade, so if you're looking for an incredibly sunny area, this might not be the best choice -- all the trees do tend to keep the lighting pretty dim inside the cabin, as well, despite lights being on, but there are plenty of spots outside that get great sunlight. Easy drive into Guerneville, Armstrong Woods, to the Sonoma coast, into Jenner... Even so, we still spent most of our time on the deck reading, playing cards, or simply relaxing under the canopy of trees. Overall, we loved staying at Dreamcatcher and were very sad to leave.

Some of the drawbacks to this cabin was having the bedroom upstairs and not on the same floor as the bathroom; the bathroom needs to be updated (shower) and the sink needs to have the faucetts repaired to stop leakage. Brighter lights in the dining room would be apreciated.
These are minor inconviences in comparison to the great time we had at the home.

Left on 05/26/2011 for a stay in May 2011
From the pictures, you can't tell that there is another house steps away, but from where the small deck and jacuzzi are, the yard is completely private. Our only problem, which caused us to have to leave early, was that the fireplace made the entire house fill with smoke. The chimney does not not draw well enough to keep the smoke from filling the room. I gather from smell of smoke in the cabin when we arrived to the many notes about how to operate the fireplace properly, others have experienced the same thing. What happened to us was that we tried to light the fire in the afternoon, failed, and then the fire died down. Later that evening the fire started again from whatever smoldering remains were left in the fireplace from our early attempts. Had we been sleeping when this happened, it would have been very dangerous, as the open loft where the bed is, is the first place that fills with smoke.
Please fix the fireplace! Or, at least, mark it as non-operational!! The gas heater is plenty to warm the small cabin.Response from Russian River Getaways - 05/26/2011

The neighboring house is across the street and up the hill; quite a bit more than a few steps! This home does not claim to be secluded, as it does have neighbors, but it's nice that these guests found the level of privacy of the the hillside deck and hot tub to their liking. We have 24/7 emergency service and ask guests to let us know about any problems right away. If these folks had let us know about the fireplace, we could have taken care of the problem so that they could have enjoyed it during their stay. Luckily they took advantage of the gas fireplace to keep things warm.

Even better than it looks in the pictures. Decoration and feel of the cabin is just what we were looking for. Local town had great restaurants and we had a great day trip to Jenner, ended up sitting on a deserted beach for hours.
Only down side I'd say was the fact that the decking outside clearly hadn't been swept in a while. -

We followed the instructions there and loved the quiet local and no neighbors on top of us. The cabin itself was clean, cozy, and filled with things for cooking, games, and relaxation. Our dog took to the place immediately and felt at home as well. Definitely for two person stay and close enough to drive into Ducan Hill, Cazedero, Guernville or Jenner. Overall stay was without a hitch and would stay here again. After reading notes from previous guests in the onsite guestbook, we realized many return back yearly or more often. We enjoyed waking up looking out at redwoods and the skies above. A great location on Sunshine Mountain. Russian River Getaways was a great service provider. Thanks for a memorable stay.

Our stay at Dreamcatcher was fantastic. Once we figured out how to enter and exit the *steep driveway and got familiarized with everything we were very at home. Dreamcatcher is super comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen is well supplied with all necessary cooking gear. I made soup and apple crisp - great stove and oven! The bed was pretty comfy and we love the two Tv's and that the internet worked great for us. Despite our electronic dependencies, it really was a world away. We took a hot tub at dusk in the chilly rain- very invigorating! The only complaint I have is that it's a bit dark but we soon forgot about that since it's so cozy and, after all, it is in the Redwoods! And the fireplace is a bit smokey so have to be a good boy/girl scout and get the fire blazing as quick as possible and keep the stove doors shut - but it works once you get it going. Great little towns nearby - Cazadero store was super friendly. Jenner's River's End Restaurant, excellent! Amazing scenery all around - the Coast Highway, Oxidental and Bodega Bay spectacular.
*Regarding the driveway, we found that swinging a wide right into the property then backing up and parking with the nose of the car facing the gate made exits much easier. -

Let me start off by saying, I was not feeling well by the time of our arrival. That being said, I was not impressed pulling up. The pics online were the same as in it was the same building but it was definately not as well maintained with moss and leaves everywhere giving it an unkept feel which carried over to the deck and hottub. Inside was clean but very dated to the point my wife thought "creepy." It was pretty cold in there when we came in and no firewood for fireplace. We had to turn heat way up and use small electric plug in heater just to get it comfortable inside. If your a tall person like myself watch your head for low ceilings and cob webs in the loft.
We went for a romantic weekend and between the long drive to get there and other personal experiences combined with the cabin itself we did not accomplish oour goal. The price was steep for what they ended up offering which would not of bothered me so much had it been worth it. We left after only one day of our planned two day stay. Stopping by the booking agent we let him know we were leaving and he was very friendly.

We're sorry these folks did not enjoy their experience at Dreamcatcher, but we feel this was a matter of mis-aligned expectations. For the outdoor ambiance, it is rainy season in the redwoods; moss and leaf litter are to be expected. The indoor decor is home-y and rustic, and is clearly visible on the website. The booking information given to each guest states that the heat for this home is a gas fireplace and a woodstove, and that firewood is not provided - most cabins in the redwoods do not have central heat. The slope of the ceiling is low in the upstairs bedroom, and, although this shows in the photos and we've never had this complaint before, we will note it on the webpage for future guests. We'll alert the housekeeper about the cobwebs. As is evident in the majority of reviews of this home, most people love it, and it has a loyal following of return guests.

Charming place, mostly, but I think the cabin looks a lot nicer in the photos than the actual experience. The proximity to the house next door with the barking dogs was more intrusive than expected. The hot tub cover is really difficult to manage (and I'm a strapping fellow). The wood stove (and I use wood stoves) really smoked up the place... Some of the light switches did not work well or at all. The lighting scheme in general was poor. Lights in closet up stairs did not work. Russian River Gateways were very responsive and provided excellent customer service. Those folks are top notch. So, in the end, I enjoyed the cabin well enough, but no, I would not return.

Left on 10/07/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We took a chance on Dreamcatcher, going only by the pictures. The place is fairly well appointed, and delightfully cozy. We are fans of absolute quiet, and the area is reasonably so--though neighbors voices and barking dogs do travel in this area. Check in is easy. The hot tub is a highlight, beautifully screened in by trees and big enough for four people (meaning two people can really stretch out). We were concerned that the sleeping loft was a little closed in, but we slept well. Two small points for those coming during abnormally warm weather (which, we realize, is rare for this area): there are mosquitoes in the area, so arm yourself with repellant; and only a few windows are screened--unfortunately all of these are on one side of the house, making it impossible to get a cross breeze while indoors (though the ceiling fan is effective).

Berkeley, CAWhat a quiet, peaceful retreat house among the redwoods!
Left on 08/13/2010 for a stay in August 2010
My husband and I celebrated our 26th anniversary at Dreamcatcher. We love the views of the trees from the bedroom, the hot tub, and the darling little kitchen. Thoughtful touches abound: games to play, a shelf of books, an easy heater, plus fireplace, espresso pot, enough dishes for basic cooking. So close to Guerneville, Jenner, Goat Rock Beach. Only caution: slippery wood floors and bathroom down stairs from bedroom.

My husband and I were looking for a less hectic, "do our own thing" vacation this year. We both love the Redwoods and when we found the Dreamcatcher cabin, we thought it would fill the bill. The cabin is adorable! It is very private, and you can just sit on the deck and watch the light filter through the trees.
The stove in the kitchen is awesome. We cooked alot of our own dinners, and everything came out great. Waking up in the loft bedroom was nice as the windows make you feel like your in the treetops.
Our stay was great. The proximity to the ocean and the wine country was an added benefit. -

We totally enjoyed the stay at Dreamcatcher. The view was great and neighbors were hospitable. The only 2 things were the slippery floors and finding a scorpion in the tub. If my Husband didn't stop me from getting into the tub it would have been a great bummer for our stay but that did not happen. We did however enjoyed everything else. Love renting cabins from Russian River Getaways and will be doing it again in 2012 see you guys then. Have a most wonderful day and a terific year.;
Thank You

Pros:
The cottage was nice overall. The property was enjoyable. The windows in the loft make waking up a remarkably pleasant experience with he sunshine and the view of the trees.
Hot tub nestled in the redwoods.
The chandelier in the dining area uses candles!
Cons:
The stairway to the loft is a little odd, making it not real safe, so be very careful. I fell. And my dog wouldn't even go up them.
No wireless internet access. Just cable.
Overall, it was great - just beware the stairs. -

The house was perfectly adorable. Warm, cozy and tastefully decorated. Well
appointed and just right for a great weekend getaway. I will definitely look to
rent here again.
We never did get the cable TV (downstairs) or the internet to work properly but
it hardly mattered and forced us to step away from the technology.
The hot tub was clean, warm and very inviting.

We had a wonderful time escaping to Dreamcatcher for some much needed R&R. The ambiance is truly mystical with the interior of the home as inviting as the exterior. A very warm and cozy feel, with the wood stove burning. Everything you need is there and it's furnishings make you feel right at home.

Bay Area, CACozy but noisy and a bit less private/secure than anticpated.
Left on 10/22/2009 for a stay in October 2009
Let me preface this review by saying that Russian River Getaways has previously provided us with nearly perfect accommodations. However we felt that this particular property was just not up to par with its web description & when one spends this kind of money on a three day vacation expectations tend to be higher.
We understood that being dog friendly meant we'd be in an area of homes with other dogs. However, the two resident dogs next door barked continually whenever they saw our dogs were out which pretty much meant that our dogs were stuck inside unless we went somewhere in the car with them. We called the RRG office about the barking since we did not want complaints about our dogs & they offered to move us. We decided to stay there after meeting the neighbor and thinking things were worked out, which turned out not to be the case. Our dogs NEVER barked. They were also never off leash since the property was not securely fenced - an allusion made in the property description. Even the neighbor told us that one of the guests staying there this season lost his dogs when they got out. This was a big disappointment since we thought our "city dogs" would have a safe place to explore the woods - totally not as advertised.
We also found the hot tub to be located a little far from the unit with a dirt path to it. Its position seemed close to the road & felt less than private during daylight hours. In this case being described as remote is not the same as private since there were visible neighbors above and next to the unit.
The unit inside was cozy/comfy and equipped with many amenities. It was too bad that the loft held a smaller than queen-sized bed; it was a very tight space. The bathtub faucet also continually flew off until your repair guy came to fix it.
All said, we will continue to recommend & use RRG though the issues with this particular property will prompt more in-depth inquiry on our part next time especially if we bring our dogs.
Thank-you.

Dreamcatcher is a wonderful, cozy, peaceful, retreat. Our city dog had fun tromping around the fenced property discovering her inner forest dog. Boyfriend loved the hot tub. I loved sitting in the cabana chair on the deck surrounded by the redwoods, drinking cocktails and getting my "reading groove" on (3 books in 3 days). Check-in at the house was so convenient, and we appreciated not having to go to a rental office before getting access to the house. Loved having a cheese shop close by (Monte Rio) and a fabo little bakery (Raymond's) in Caz. We will definitely be back.

Berkeley, Ca.Beautiful house
Left on 08/21/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We had a lovely time during our stay. t was very relaxing and this is by far the
most beautiful house, architecturally, that we have stayed in through RRG.
A few "cons"- Very bad yellow jacket situation kept us fro using the deck
much- mosquitos also worse than ever. We bought many citronella candles
and insence sticks which we left for the next oerson, but these only help a
little with mosquitos and not at all with wasps. Maybe a wasp trap near would
be good- the neighbor recommends liverwurst as a bate!
The towels in the bathroom were clean, but the back-up towels in the closet
were sour and smelly. We did 3 loads of linens the morning we left!
Other than those feww remediable things it was delightful.Response from Russian River Getaways - 08/22/2009
Manager
Cecily, we really appreciate the feedback. As soon as we received this review, we sent Hydrex out to take care of the yellow jacket nest--we would have been happy to do so right after you arrived had we known. We're also checking to see if the county will spray for mosquitos; they do seem to be very plentiful this year.

Left on 08/06/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Check in was a breeze and then just a short ride to the cabin. Cozy inside and beautiful outside. Short drives lead to dog friendly ocean beaches. A little longer ride and we were on the river ready to canoe 8 miles of gorgeous nature and wild life. The best parts were chilling inside the cabin cooking on the excellent range, drinking wine on the deck as the pup ran around, and relaxing in the hammock listening to the birds. The worst parts for us were the yellow jackets swarming the hot tub, shotguns going off in the hills, and the patches of poison oak on the grounds.

Left on 06/19/2009 for a stay in June 2009
My wife and I arrived at Dreamcatcher and found it to be the perfect place to get away and relax. While there were a couple of homes on the one side, being on the end and with the trees aforded great privacy. Everything worked well, and my wife really enjoyed the gas fireplace. The house had everything that we needed to stay for a week minus our groceries. It was nice to have some of the basic cooking/condiments at the house. The location was great, sandwiched midway between the Coast and Guerneville (from where you could get your necessities, rent kayaks, or visdit Armstrong Woods. I definitely would stay there again.

We just got back from our Honeymoon vacation at the Dreamcatcher and the experience was nothing short of magical. This little cabin in the woods is enchanting. The old redwood forest is quiet and breathtakingly beautiful.
The cabin is warm and cozy with lots of beautiful details. The kitchen is well stocked, the funiture is cozy, the bed comfortable, and the hot tub is being amazing.
This was our first trip to the area and we spent our days picnicking, hiking, boating, and sightseeing. But my favorite days were spent just hanging around the cabin.
Overall, a very romantic location, just us two honeymooners and the trees and maybe a banana slug or two. We would recommend it to anyone! -

Left on 04/15/2009 for a stay in April 2009
This cabin is very nice, but had some issues. The location is on a one lane mountain road and can be hard to find if arriving at night due to the lack of lighting. The main entry door is also at the back of the property, which can lead to confusion. The interior of the cabin was nice but many of the lights were not working during a recent stay. We also had a scorpion in the shower one morning when we woke up. Overall, very nice cabin but was further out of town than we expected and the road leading to it was very rough and hard to navigate.

Dreanmcatcher is our second experience or Russian River Resorts. It had also been recommended by friend who rented it one year ago. Unfortunately it has been not as we had been told, for some issues that could have been easy to fix before we arrived. One after the other, we found out when we arrived:
- the keys we had been given did not open one of the two locks of the door you find when you arrive. You have to go around the house, find another door that you can open; there are no lights on that side.
- when we entered the house, one of the first things we saw was the table, with a dirty tablecloth on (recent wine stains, burnt candle,..)
- we couldn't use the deck or the hot tub that evening because the lights were not working there; the day after we bought many candles, but we were not comfortable using them outside in this environment. We tried to understand where was the problem the day after, then we tried to call RRresort, but we couldn't, as the house phone didn't allow us to do it, and our cell phones didn't work there.
- 4 other lights didn't work in the house: one outside, 2 in the main room, one by the kitchen. We lost time finding the breakers, as nothing is written in the house folder. We wanted to try to fix some of the lights this way.
- one of the two towels we used the first evening was dirty (black stuff on it); after seeing that and the tablecloth, I worried about the bed sheets.
- the faucet of the bathtub leaks. And we found on the counter a letter of a previous customer (5 months ago) complaining about that.
We had a nice stay, however, but I was disappointed that we couldn't use the place the way we expected, it was not ready and gave us a feeling of a lack of follow-up.
I appreciate the requirements given to the tenants as I felt you could expect the same in return. But this experience was somewhat a disappointment. Probably we won't go back there if we don't know it got better.
