Well, the cabin was ok. Tiny kitchen and tiny bathroom. There was not enough room for two people to move around and cook in the kitchen. Beds were comfortable and extra room/play room for the kids was nice.
The setting (trees, outdoors) was great. The big issue was the "neighborhood". Lots of homeless, if you don't care then no big deal. But my family was subjected to a male on a BMX bike wielding a knife acting like he was cutting something in front of him. Didn't feel too safe here.
The houses/cabins on right on top of each other. There is no space between them. The back window of this cabin was about level with the street above the cabin. Didn't feel to comfortable with cars driving by feet from where my kids slept and a few above where they slept.
The cabin would have been fine if it was somewhere else. We could deal with the small kitchen and bathroom but I went there to relax and I felt I had to be on guard constantly watching over my family.
Fortunately it was close to the coast so we stay out of the cabin most of the time. Coast was beautiful.
Way too expensive for this place and we got a night free. Read more
I'm glad you found something to enjoy about your stay with us; it is a great location from which to enjoy the surrounding area. Forest Lodge is our least expensive home for its size, as it is a funky little River house in a funky little River neighborhood. The neighborhood is colorful, just as much of the River is. -Rachel, Russian River Getaways

This place is between Guerneville and Monte Rio up a narrow road with other cabins and houses near, but it was very quiet. Probably a little less than a mile from Guerneville. You could walk to town, but I would pay close attention to traffic on the River Road. There is a large family room, although I didn't really use it. Kitchen fairly well equipped. Living/dining room is nice. Had fun grilling on the deck. Washer/dryer right outside the kitchen door on the deck. I would return.
cozy, lovely, roomy house in the woods

We enjoyed the place! It was roomy enough for all five of us, including a baby. The collection of video, puzzles and board games was nice. There were many choices for any age. All appliances and BBQ worked fine. There was no toiletries though, so bring plenty of your own! Read more
We apologize for your lack of toiletries. We always give you an initial supply, which is quite generous. We will talk to our housekeeper regarding this issue. We're very glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise.

Although the cabin is not modern at all, it is very cozy. My family and I had a wonderful time there since we felt that there was enough space for all us without feeling crowded. The bed in the main bedroom is really comfortable, and my kids felt the same way about the twin beds in the other room. We loved to hang out at night in the back room where we watched, all together, movies provided by the owner, and we played some boardgames. Our dogs also enjoyed hanging around the fireplace, which kept the cabin warm and nice.
For the price ($150 a night), it was a great mine vacation!!

The service from RR Getaways was superb! They even helped us save money. The cabin was huge and very comfortable throughout. Nice restaurant, Garden Grill, was within walking distance. We liked the quiet best of all.

We stayed for three nights. The house was beautifully situated amongst trees and was just the perfect size for our family of four. It was no more than a five minute drive to the beach and there was also a beach across the main road. Although, the house didn't have any yard space it was still a fun place to stay. We had a great time and will definitely go again!!

Home was nice, extra blind costs not so good
Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in September 2011 | Broke
The internet ad stated the rate was $389 per night. I called to validate the cost of $389.00 and ordered over the phone. When I reviewed the email bill, the rate was $390 but the there was a cleaning rate of $105 which is excessive and a $40.00 charge for damage, although there was no damage and the place was left clean, absolutely no need for $145.00 cleaning and damage charge. Read more
This house costs $195/night, so the rental rate was $390 for two nights. There are no blind or hidden costs; each charge is outlined clearly on the website and the booking agreement, which every guest should read before they sign. Over the phone, the total and charges would have been explained, so there really should have been no surprises. We do charge for cleaning, even for tidy guests, because the house has to be super clean for the next guest coming - to a professional standard that guests can't and don't want to perform on their vacations! The damage waiver covers you if you break something accidentally - up to $1000. Nothing broken is going to cost less than $40 to fix and stuff happens. -rkl

Located on cozy Lover's Lane, I stayed with one friend, but it could accomodate 5-6 people, though there's only one bathroom/shower. Set up is a bit odd with 2 living rooms, separated by the master bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with 3 single beds. The second living room is quite large has 2 large sofas that can accomodate sleepers and has a TV with DVD player. It's about a mile from the center of Guerneville.

In retrospect, we should have looked elsewhere for our stay. This was one of the few available for a short stay but i should have just booked a week elsewhere and eaten the cost. Dark, dank and not very relaxing. Outdated as can be and the tiny, sloping kitchen would have been funny if it wasn't so sad. Drinks would not stay on the shelves of the refrigerator because of the slope. We wanted to cook a few meals here but gave up after the first night. The creepy neighbors made my wife and daughter uneasy the whole time and the nearby trailor people were unsettling as well.
It took quite a while to figure out the cable tv on the large set and the smaller one never worked properly. Staying in this rental really put a damper on the only vacation that I was able to take this year. Read more
This home is not for everyone, but many people really enjoy its combination of low price and old-fashioned river vacation charm. We don't know which neighbors they're referring to (hopefully they're not reading this review and being offended by being called creepy). There are no trailers or unpleasant yards on that street, so not sure what to say about that. Maybe the trailer was someone visiting a neighbor; they're gone now. We tested the TVs and found no problems. If these folks had contacted us, we could have helped them with the TV problem. -rkl
Fun Stay for our first time in Guerneville
Left on 09/17/2009 for a stay in June 2009 | JohnT
We had a great time during our stay at the Forest Lodge. The house is not fancy, but it was nice and cozy. The location was great, as it it close to downtown Guerneville. I would recommend it to friends. My only issue was the $100 cleaning fee seemed excessive. I guess it wouldn't bother me if we were there for a week or more, but we only stayed for two nights. So, $50 a day, and they still ask that you wash all the dishes, and wash the towels and sheets before you go... Read more
Thanks for the feedback and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. Just want to clarify that we never, ever ask anyone to wash sheets. We do suggest that if you want to you can start a load of towels to help the housekeepers meet their schedules, but it's not at all required. We do require that you wash dishes and put them away; otherwise, our housekeepers would too often face days worth of dirty dishes.

Very nice...it was actually a little larger than what i needed. Would have rather of stayed with Russian River Getaways only in something smaller and closer to Main Street or Triple R. I was there for Lazy Bear. The cottage itself was very clean and well maintained and that impressed me the most.

The home suited out needs. We have 3 children. There was plenty of space
for them all and our toddler loved the porch, board games and toys. And
being in the middle of towering redwoods was very calming. I could
complain and state that the decor was a bit too rustic/outdated for my
taste, the floors slanted and that there was a "cabiny" odor that took some
getting used to but what's the point really? Because, it all kind of grew on us
and became quirkily charming. And, besides, the home was a very
affordable $150 a night to rent.
I'd say the home is good for low maintenance families/ groups that are
looking for a cozy woodsy experience on a budget. I would consider staying
here again on our return trip.
Wait, just remembered. The red throws in the small den next to the kitchen.
They smelled very ripe. Everything else seemed clean and washed so they
really stuck out.
