The Laughling House is well equiped with all I needed to cook, including a clea grill. It had cleaning solutions, enough towels, washine machine/dryer, a beautiful cozy deck and a nice hot tube(someone came to check and clean while we were there)My kids enjoyed it just as well, they did not want to leave it. Plus there was a lot to do around the area..We would defenetly go back to it.

The staff was friendly at Russian River Getaways. The home was clean and well kept. It had an efficient floor plan. The house was conveniently located with access to lots of Russian River activities. The home was also in a quiet location. We liked the layout of the house best and the stairs up to the house the least. The house was a little hard to find at first.

This home needs a makeover. The deck needs to have all the nails pounded back down(yes big danger alert if not in flip flops) and power washed and refinished. The cd player/system didnt work and the bedding felt cheap and probably purchases 10 years ago. Just some comments but was quiet and close enough to town.

I think your expectations must have been unrealistically high to give this home two stars for the minor things you mention. Laughlin is one of our less expensive homes because it's not the newest and shiniest. However, it is very comfortable and most people love it. We'll definitely check out the decks and correct any safety issues, and, of course, the stereo as well. Next time, please call if something such as a stereo doesn't work f so that we can fix it or get you a loaner. -general manager

Richmond, CaliforniaStayed one weekend, day-dreamed about returning ever since
Left on 05/24/2012 for a stay in October 2011
My boyfriend an I had plans that fell through for a long holiday weekend so I called the help line at Russian River Getaways and they hooked us up - the night before our travel date - with this place.
Although it was designed for a bigger group (it rooms at least 5 people comfortably), it was almost a perfect cabin for the two of us. Private, cozy, great location, personal hot tub on the back deck, BBQ, sun loungers, cable tv, wifi, full kitchen, surrounded by trees and flowers. And the huge deck outside makes it relatively smoker-friendly, which these days is really hard to find in a cabin or hotel. The only strange thing was that someone came by the house while we were there and parked their truck in the driveway for a few hours, obviously impeding the privacy a little. But they didn't bother us on the deck and like I said, they were gone in a few hours.
My BF and I still talk about what a great trip it was. Although it would make more sense to rent a smaller, cheaper cabin, I still cant help but want to return to this one!Response from Russian River Getaways - 05/31/2012

We used the rental for our board of directors annual retreat. We enjoyed the large patio with comfortable table and chairs and lounge chairs too. It was quite comfortable for 6 people. We enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated the privacy. We would definitely re-visit the rental in the future.

Very easy to find, love the keyless entry. Loved not having to go to an office to get paperwork or keys. Also was great to do all the paperwork via the computer,so easy!!! House was very cozy!! Too busy going to the wineries, but the patio was lovely, summer would be great! My only neg., is there should be a tv in all bedrooms, but not a biggie.

We totally enjoyed the Laughlin Estate. The house had everything we needed from plentiful kitchen equipment to games and puzzles to while away the hours. The sunny deck was a favorite for hanging out during the day and the weather totally cooperated. The location is excellent, close to town and many wineries, and a short drive to Healdsburg or the coast. A walk at armstrong Redwoods was a quiet delight and is highly recommended.

property is very small but lovely. We liked the deck with a nice table and grill. Also, hot tub is very nice with different options. Apple tree outside at the front of the house had tasty Gravenstien apples, and we baked a pie from it. The only thing I did not like was that we had to clean dishes, take garbage, wash towels, etc. (I think that cleaners should take care of these things since we pay for cleaning.

Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in July 2011
All good. Great house, super comfortable, roomy. Fantastic deck. No complaints...but you should not call it a "short walk" to downtown Guerneville. For us it was easy but an older person couldn't easily make that walk. It is not that short.
Response from Russian River Getaways - 07/16/2011

We're glad these folks like this house so much. It says on the website that it is one flat, walkable mile to downtown Guerneville - no mention of "short," so I'm not sure where that idea came from. -rkl

San FranciscoAwesome weekend at the Laughlin Estate
Left on 06/08/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We stayed at the laughlin estate memorial day weekend and had an amazing time. The rooms are larger then they look in the pictures and the house has plenty of amenities, and lots of kitchen tools. The back deck is huge, great for sunbathing and bbqing. The living room is cozy and the fireplace was a nice touch to the cold weekend we experienced. The house is raised up from the road and is nice and secluded for plenty of privacy. Would stay here again for sure!

Left on 07/29/2010 for a stay in June 2010
The house was situated quite nicely. Very private and nice deck. The interior was a bit worn, but we enjoyed our stay. The most daunting thing about it was the list of rules and instructions. That was quite a list! It made me a bit nervous, but we took great pains and I think we left it in really good shape.

Everything was exactly as shown. The best week of our two week Ca vacation! Great location for day trips to coast, wineries, redwoods, etc. Well equipped kitchen allowed wonderful meal prep at the end of the day. This is the only way to stay!

Left on 08/28/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We had a great vacation. Our family was there for week and we were very reluctant to leave! Many pluses - (1) Great location: Reasonably close to town so easy to make trips to the shops. But, secluded and quiet - offering good privacy. (2) Very nice house with an open plan, high ceiling rooms and good quality appliances - wonderful deck and hot tub. (3) Close to Armstrong Woods which is a wonderful resource. No negatives. Some suggestions for improvement (1) Put a latch on the inside of the outer gate to make it is easier to lock/unlock in the dark. (2) Put lights on the outside near the laundary room so it is easier to access/see at night. (3) Update the deck cushions. Overall, we had a great time and we would love to go back. The town of Guernville and the surrounding Russian River area completely charmed us.

We had a great time, only got to stay 2 nights but the house was great, plenty of amenities, a GORGEOUS deck, and a beautiful setting. Our kids joined us for a birthday weekend and the arrangement was easy to be together, yet provided individual privacy. The hot tub was great, without being to hot!
Kitchen well appointed and instructions for everything. Will definitely be back! -

Left on 04/01/2009 for a stay in March 2009
The electronic keyless entry is great! No need to hand out keys!
The fireplace was lovely as was the entire living room. The kitchen was a bit small, but it had everything necessary. The 3 rooms were great...so were the comfy robes! The hot tub provided much relaxation and the deck out front is the best! We spent most of the weekend out there (luckily it was also the warmest weekend in March!)
The gas grill needed a bit of maintenance so did the cushions on patio furniture, but definitely didn't deter us from having a great time! -

A group of friends (6) get together every year for the Russian River Wine Barrel Tasting event. The home was very nice and the hot tub was perfect. We went golfing on Friday night and being able to come home, hope in the hot tube w/ a glass of wine was heavenly.
We did have some issues, when making the reservation the clerk told me we got one free night and what night we would like. I told her that we were planning on coming the Thursday before the weekend. Okay, no problem she replied. However, the reservation that she booked was Fri-Mon. It was a small confusion but b/c we came in late Thursday night, someone from the company had to come to down to the office to hand us our welcome packet. Another issue that we had w/ the house was the ants. There were two incidents. Once we woke up to ants all over some cookies we left on the kitchen table. The amazing thing was they were still in their container. It definitely looked like some of the raisins were moving, haha. Another time someone left a cup of orange juice on the coffee table and ants had come in and covered the cup.
I would recommend this house and we will probably come back as long as I double check on the date and make sure the ants don't come visiting again. We had breakfast every morning and dinner one night after wine tasting. The deck was a wonderful place to BBQ, eat and sip wine. I wish my home had a wonderful deck like this one! It was a really nice weekend w/ my three favorite things: Friends, Food, and Wine.

Take a torch light! Once you've found the driveway, opened the lock on the gate and by passed security on the front door (all made more difficult under the cover of darkness), you'll settle in and never want to leave. The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked, particularly in the kitchen where the utensils impressed this bunch of keen cooks.
