My friends and I came from San Francisco & Oakland to Guerneville for a much needed ladies' weekend, to celebrate a birthday, and just relax. We found Pepperwood really well appointed (we love to cook) and spent nearly the whole weekend on the deck. Having one side of the house with only trees as the vista was perfect. The shower was great, the hot tub was great, and the location was perfect- we had privacy among the Redwoods, but were close to town so we could grab what we needed easily. The only complaints were one of the beds was a little lumpy (I still managed to sleep easily) and parking was a bit tricky, since we had 3 cars and had to park up the road in a turnout. Besides that, it was perfect.

4 of us had a great 3 night stay. The house was beautiful and came fully stocked with everything we needed, aside from food. The grill and hot tub make the huge outdoor patio even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Pepperwood, and plan to return.
The location of the house itself is lovely, although Guernville itself disappointed me a bit. Armstrong park is close enough and proved to be great.Response from Russian River Getaways - 03/03/2013

My husband and I stayed with another couple in Pepperwood over the New Year's holiday weekend. We had a wonderful time. I would recommend it to anyone.
What I liked:
- The cabin was very clean! The people with allergies didn't have any problems.
- The spacious open layout of the kitchen and living room keeps the cabin from feeling small and leads to convivial conversation between the cooks in the kitchen and the people relaxing in the living room.
- It's easy to find and situated in a nice, quiet woodsy area where you can take a walk down peaceful redwood lined roads or easily drive into town.
- The kitchen is very well stocked so there's no need to worry if there's enough pots, utensils, and dishes.
- Both bedrooms were equally sized and small, but cozy. The beds were comfortable and I slept very well.
- It was cold outside the weekend we were there, but the cabin was warm. The wood burning stove was great at night.
- The hot tub was relaxing.
What I didn't like:
- I would give Pepperwood 5 stars if the bathroom was bigger and the door was more soundproof. It wasn't that big of a deal to us, but it might pose a problem for people with bathroom modesty issues.
- We couldn't figure out how to watch network television (one of our guests wanted to watch a football game) but had no problem with the DVD player.Response from Russian River Getaways - 03/03/2013

We stayed for a month and we very pleased the property. It has a nice setting in a quiet and peaceful area. It is close to Guerneville and to all the area destinations, but yet it offers a secluded feeling to it as well.
It has a vey nice deck surrounded by redwood trees that lend a nice touch to the property.

Amazing little house! Way up in the giant redwoods. It was beautiful, simple and had everything you would need.It was clean,cozy and inviting.I loved the floor to ceiling windows looking out at the giant redwoods. The kitchen was stocked nicely with things we forgot to bring. We had a little fire the first night and they made it easy for us by providing firestarter brick.We drank mojitos and sat in the hot tub on the beautiful deck under the redwoods and just chilled and relaxed. It provided a much needed break from reality for these two longtime friends and overworked moms. We both miss it and will be back!

We were able to book Pepperwood at the last minute and were pleased. It was clean and well-stocked and comfortable. The only criticisms we could make about our weekend stay is that the driveway isn't marked particularly well so it's easy to miss the sign, but once you do, it's simple. The other negative was that it was awfully hot, this would've been fine if the home had a few fans, but the only fan in the place was a ceiling fan over the dining table. Don't let this discourage you, it was a lovely stay and we'll likely book it again!

I've stayed at many homes / rental vacation places in Guerneville, and Pepperwood offers an amazing enclave of forest, a gorgeous restful place with lovely amenities.
A large deck opens on sequoias lined valley flanks; the jacuzzi is amazing at night, with stars above you.
The living room has large windows also opening to the forest, so this will be the "greenest" week-end you have in Guerneville.

I can't say enough! The beds were comfortable, the deck was heaven, so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the hot tub and I have never stayed in a rental that was so well stocked!!! Thank you for thinking of everything we needed and then some. We will be back.

When we got there at a cold cold night, the lights were lit, heater was on, jacuzzi was hot, logs are chopped, everything else that we needed and didn't need were all prepared for us. It just felt like we returned from a long trip, except the trip was not long at all, only 1.5 hours away from SF.
It was a wonderful experience waking up in the woods, trolling the peaceful downtown Guerneville, yet still feel at home and at ease.Response from Russian River Getaways - 11/09/2011

The cabin was very nice and well equipped. Mmy wife and I brought our two young children here and had a great time. The deck was beautiful and the layout of cabin was great for a small space. Bathroom was small but it did not hurt my overall experience. I rate it a 4 out of 5 only because there are obviously better and more expensive cabins but for what I paid I believe this was a great deal.
Deck is beautiful and we spent all of our time there. Only real problem is the tiny parking space. -

Being bitten so badly inside the cabin and out on the patio by mosquito's would be the one thing that would keep me from coming back. I bought spray for our bodies but it didn't seem to be effective. Otherwise, we really enjoyed out stay and time there. Also, it would be nice if there was some sort of advertisement book of things to do in the area.

The only reason we did not give it an excellent review is because of the bathroom. We would have liked it to be bigger and more private. But, everything else is top notch. Everything one could possible need is supplied in this house. The deck, with its grill and hottub, is awesome. And, it's so quiet and private. The main room and kitchen are very roomy. This house was worth the 10 mins. to get to it from the main road.

This cabin was a great location to be out from Guerneville, but close enough to wine country and the coast. The cabin was fully equipped and the BBQ was nice. The accommodations were mid-level for the price. The deck area was extremely peaceful and serene, much better than the inside of the cabin. The only downfall was that the hot tub had way too many chemicals to the point that it hurt to breathe when sitting in it. If you are looking for complete seclusion, keep looking, as it is in a shared driveway with 2 other properties and even though it is removed from town, it is a fairly populated area.

This is such a beautiful property! Lots of light, comfortable, completely equippped. The house and deck are oriented toward the trees overlooking the creek, so it feels private, quiet and secluded from the few neighbors nearby. Pepperwood is convenient to guerneville, reasonably easy to get to, and has parking for 2 vehicles. My dog and i loved this place and could have stayed here forever.

We have been your frequent guest at willow heaven and we always love and enjoy our visit. The peperwood house was not clean. esp. the carpet. We found several stains on your linen's ( comforter and towels). The furniture and windows were dusty, the unit needs to be deep cleaned. We would not recommend this unit to any of our family or friends.

We are so sorry that this guest was distracted from enjoying this lovely home by cleaning issues. Upon inspection, we discovered that the carpet, along with the rest of the house, was ready for a deep clean after the winter season. We took care of this immediately, and it looks fabulous! We found no spots or stains on the sheets, comforters or towels.

We wanted to spend a low-key, but special NYE together and last year we rented the Pepperwood along with another couple. This year, the other couple couldn't join us, but we loved Pepperwood so much we decided to rent it again. The people at RRG are so sweet and accomodating. We have zero complaints at all! Very friendly service and seemed like they truly wanted to make sure we had a great time. They recommended fun activities for us open on NYE - we went to Kendall-Jackson for some wine and tasting menu - yum!!!
We also did the in-home cooking classes with Maria. She is fantastic! We learned to make some creole, delicious garlic shrimp on the grill, jambalaya, halibut ... Maria was really fun! My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed her class in our cabin and had plenty of food to take home for the week.
Very nice start to the new year! -

When we arrived, the furnace was not working. We received prompt service and I am pleased with the friendly and accomodating staff.
The house itself is a gem. Up on the hillside with a build that gives a feeling of seclusion in the forest. Wonderful accomodations! -

This is a nice place. Not for the weak at heart to drive to at night.But what a surprise when the sun came up in the morning.Very cozy.Enjoyed the hot tub on the very large deck. Bed rooms are very small, But i would recommend the house.Just make sure you have all your food and drink,cause it's a long curvy ride down the mountain back to the store. But the area was beautiful.......

This house has a woody cabin taste with a fabulous deck, which hold the outdoor hot tub. I would say that the hot tub was the highlight of our experience - it is surrounded by gorgeous redwoods and you can moon-gaze from the tub. So lovely.
The house is located in the peaceful residential area tucked in the redwoods, although it was in a closer proximity to the neighbors (driveway is shared, and parking is tricky here) than expected. The kitchen is fully equipped with EVERYTHING, and it is well designed. All other amenities were great, and it was spacious enough for the four of us who stayed, with a couple of day guests. Overall, the house is well maintained and has a very positive energy.
Downtown Guerneville is not too far from the house, and we enjoyed being able to hop in a car and get down there as we liked. The separation from the hopping bar scene in town was definitely a plus.
If you are planning a low-key getaway with a couple of friends or with your partner (who don't mind having neighbors in close proximity), I would recommend it in a heart beat! -

Pepperwood was just what we were looking for while staying in Sonoma. The area is beautiful and very quiet. The first night we sat out on the deck and there were times we couldn't hear a sound! Eerie, but cool. The other nights weren't as quiet, but you definitely feel like you're in the boonies, even though it's just a short, scenic drive from town.
The house was nicely appointed and a good fit for two couples and one child (plus two dogs). We had everything we needed - the only exception being a can opener (there is a handheld one, which would be fine but it was bent and didn't work very well). Otherwise, everything was great! -

Great space, the deck is large and we enjoyed that. If you have dog or dogs the only issue is not alot of area to let dog run, no yard have to walk down road with dog. Other than that perfect and was the most well stocked place we have rented.

Overall I think the Pepperwood property was perfectly okay.
My issues involved the stereo system which wasn't good, I had
people over for dinner one night and I could not play music because
of the static on the speakers. The internet connection was not easy
to deal with either.
Privacy was an issue too. The neighbors were very close and I didn't
feel comfortable in the whirlpool with them there so I didn't use it or
the deck much.
I would say the kitchen was very nice to cook in.
But I would not rent this property again.

You really have to give this one a try, we booked it for a romantic getaway for two and it was very nice. The drive up to the house had me second guessing, but once we arrived at the end of the road well up in the redwoods it was quite serene. The shared driveway had me a little nervous, but once inside every view has you feeling you are all alone. It was quite and tranquil. I am working on getting some photos uploaded, but we will definately stay here again, it has everything you need for a quite a relaxing weekend, far enough out that you feel secluded, but close enough to run into town for the forgotten item. very nice and comfortable definately didn't have that strangers house feel, warm and welcoming is how we felt.

This was a very comfortable beautiful place to stay with the family and our dog. There is enough room to feel like you can relax. the kitchen was a good size and equiped enough to be able to cook as wanted. Our family likes to cook meals together on vacation.
The outside patio was wonderful. we used the jacuzzi and the grill. And ate outside with plenty of room again.
We had a great time
