This was our third time staying in Rising Sun. Several good friends meet here for a week of relaxing, wine and beer tasting, fantastic bbq and hot tubs under a blanket of stars! We love the huge upstairs dining/living room with great views overlooking the Russian River. The large dining table was roomy enough for all ten of us to sit around at dinner and talk about our days. The property is close enough to town and the 'wine highway' but remote enough for quiet, restful nights. The Getaway folks made sure we had all the ammenities we neded including a bag of charcoal in the middle of the week. Pool, ping pong and houseshoes kept us just active enough and there is always the river to flop into for a cooldown. Great stay and thanks!

This is a fairly well updated home in a pretty quiet neighborhood. A couple miles from the center of Guerneville. Really well located if you like hanging by the river and being near to many nice Sonoma wineries. The hot tub was nice when the nights got cool. The a/c unit needed fixing right when we got there but the problem was resolved within hours of when I called the office.

We stayed for three nights and absolutely loved the home. The proximity to the river was wonderful, the yard in the back was great for games, and the open space of the great room made for fun while cooking. We couldn't believe how many options there were for activities so we never had to leave the house! The kayaks, ping pong and pool table were such a wonderful addition. The description did say that there was a gas grill but there was not. The kitchen also would have been over-the-top awesome if the second oven was in working condition. Outdoor lighting on the upstairs deck and downstairs yard would have been nice as well. The hot tub lever to keep it open was broken and did fall on one of my friends. She was okay but it did cause quite a scare and should have been better communicated (we saw the small post-it after the accident).

Really enjoyed this place, it was the first time that we have done the Russian River thing, and it was great. This place in particular felt like a home when it needed to, and also had little fun trinkets, like pool and ping-pong, not available at home. Also, there were few people, but the city was very close and convenient This made it great because we could be comfortable but there were still things to do. Our vacation turned out better than we ever could have hoped for and this place certainly had a big part in that.

As it was our first trip to the Russian River area as a group--we really enjoyed the experience. The house was great and in a great location. We enjoyed cooking and spending time together in the great room & kitchen. The short walk to the river was perfect for us and the small children with us. One thing that could have been better was that the back yard could have been landscaped and kept up so that the children could play out back. We will come again.

We rented the house for a group of friends to have a relaxing weekend getaway. We had a great time kayaking, throwing a frisbee, sitting around a fire on the beach, playing pool and ping pong, not to mention the hot tub. The house was great!

The kitchen was great and it had every tool for cooking. Plenty of room for 10 people, high speed internet was high speed, great deck, great hot tub, huge garage, good ping pong and pool table. Everything matched the description. Two thumbs up!

We have a group of friends that meet annually for the Winter Wineland weekend over MLK weekend. This was our 5th year attending, and our 2nd year renting a home through RR Getaways. Rising Star was a beautiful riverfront property. I loved the open great room which was very conducive to cooking & conversation. We also had 2 massage therapists come out to the home for personal massages for 6 of our 8 guests. And everyone in our party took advantage of the hot tub at one time or another - champagne & hot tubbing are a great end to a spectacular day!
My only negative feedback would be as follows: the fireplace did not work while we were there over the rainy/chilly weekend, neither did the DVD player. The home feels somewhat "sterile" in that it does feel like a "rental home" and not a home. A couple of suggestions I would give are: stock the home with a few DVD's for people to watch, some books/magazines for people to browse through, and maybe a couple of board games for family nights around that great dining room table.Response from Russian River Getaways - 01/28/2010

Great suggestions which the owner is taking seriously. There are board games downstairs and a few DVDs in the TV cabinet, but the owners will bring up more. These do tend to disappear.
The fireplace does work -- if you had called us we could have told you what to do. The DVD player is new, so we're checking it out---wonder if it wasn't connected correctly. Always, always call us if something isn't working properly---we'll send a service person out to the house. Thanks again and we hope to see you again. -

We had a great stay. The house was everything it is advertised to be and more. The kitchen is to die for and has every kitchen tool you could possibly need. The river is right outside the back yard with easy access. I would recommend this place and would stay there again.

Great service from Russian River Getaways made rental easy; small problems we had were quickly resolved. Large, modern home about 1 mile from Guerneville in quiet neighborhood with pleasant view of river. Access to river from bottom floor across gentle slope of about 50 yards. Our extended family enjoyed all of the many amenities in the home. Liked best: pool table, kayaks, well-appointed kitchen, nice bathrooms, central location for nice drives. Liked least: floor and kitchen could have been cleaner on arrival, downstairs game room is really more of a converted basement so sleeping there is less comfortable (I recommend bringing sleeping bags for sleeping on the futons).

The house has a great lay-out for family gathering and interaction. The kitchen is well-equipped - just like home. We loved the house location, the garage, the hot tub, and the beach is very good for swimming and fishing or just playing around. The basement room is perfect for children; however, it would have been better if there is a newer television so they can play game downstairs rather than the livingroom TV. Suggestion: consider rectangular table for outdoor or more lounge chairs.
