We really enjoyed our stay at the Riverwood cabin. The house was very clean and both beds were incredibly comfortable. The deck was great and added some extra space to the small interior. The hot-tub was the cleanest we've ever seen (my husband usually refuses to go in them but he was able to enjoy this one). As well, for such a small kitchen, it was very well equipped! Only suggestion would be to get a new refrigerator (it was very clean but old enough to be slightly creepy). The house was great for a dog - gates all over the deck and lots of dog supplies that made it easy to keep the place clean. My kids enjoyed the river access and the yard was lovely as well. We will be back!

My husband and i enjoyed a very relaxing getaway at Riverwood cottage. We were both impressed with the setting - tucked into the redwoods but with fantastic river views. The cottage was Tiny- but very clean and with all the amenities we needed. We especially loved soaking in the hot tub underneath the stars. The location is good- just steps away from the Monte Rio bridge and public beach. We appreciated the security of being able to park the car off the street and lock the gates. Our dog Daisy had a blast swimming in the river every day. She votes "four paws up" for Riverwood !

We stayed there for our 5th anniverssary. The house was in a great location right on the river with a large back yard and island on the river. Our dog enjoyed that. the hot tube is a great feature that was used eveynight. We even had a private chef come in one night and he did an excellent job in the kitchen. I will stay here again.

This property is definitely one of my favorite Russian River Getaways rentals. The highlights:
A stunning view overlooking the river
a fabulous deck that we had breakfast on every morning
Nice hot tub under the trees
Cozy living room and bedrooms
Kitchen also overlooks the river
I'd definitely rent this property again!

My partner and I stayed at Riverwood mid September 2011. Everything about my vacation experience was wonderful. The location can't be beat on a slower less crowded portion of the river. In fact, most days we had the semi-private beach/island in front of the cottage to ourselves. I brought my two dogs along and they had a blast playing in the river. The cottage sits on 3/4 acre and there is plenty of room for people and they're four legged friends to roam. Three sides of the property is fenced so there was no issues about the dogs wandering off.
Also, Russian River Getaways were great to deal with. The booking, check-in and check-out process was a breeze. I'm already looking into booking the Riverwood Cottage for next summer. Thanks RRG!Response from Russian River Getaways - 10/06/2011

We enjoyed the property and the house. It was small, but with only 2 of us that was fine. It would have been nice to have a better view of the water from down on the lawn, but the rasberry (?) bushes block much of it. It was a great view from the deck.

We really enjoyed the River Wood cottage. It was in a great location just west of the Monte Rio bridge. We have two Goldens and they loved the beach and easy river access and especially the big sloping yard with lots of space to run and play.
The cottage was the cleanest of any rental we have ever stayed in. Good restaurants in the area and the Garden Grill is a must as well as Cape Fear Cafe in Duncans Mill. The only thing this property needs is a couple of kayaks.

Wonderful accommodations and location! Loved the private beach access, deck, yard and house - pretty much everything. The hot tub was very clean and ready to use when we got there. The huge yard is perfect for dogs and kids. Can't wait to go back - highly recommend!

We survived a horrible rainstorm and many flooded roads and detours to reach Riverwood and believe us, it was worth it! The house was nice and warm for our arrival and very charming and relaxing. As goldie locks said-"it was just right". This river view home was as advertised and more. The bedrooms were well appointed and furnished and very comfortable. The living room afforded views off the deck of the rising river and was also very comfortable. Loved the couch (especially at nap time). The kitchen had everything we needed and was well stocked. We had our two Mini Schnauzers with us and they loved the enclosed front yard (driveway area). The grounds of this home were fantastic!!!. And the hot tub !! Is there anything better than soaking while in a rainstorm? Four days and three nights were perfect for a week end get-away. I would recomend this home to anyone (in fact we are booked for august). The people at Russian River Get-Aways are always very nice and helpful. There are many vacation rental places but for service we always choose Rrgetaways.

We really enjoyed our stay. We liked having a kitchen to cook each day. We toured Korbel one afternoon which is within 15 minutes. We origionally picked this cabin right on the water because we wanted to fish. It had rained quite a bit right before we arrived so the river was too high and flowing too fast to fish. We made the best of it anyway. We also golfed at Northwoods course which was beautiful. We will be back.

The house was nice but a little shabby.
It had great beach access, specially for a family with small kids since the river in that location is shallow.
There is a lot of noise from nearby traffic, so noisy we could barely hear the birds.
On the first day of our stay we found out the house was not properly cleaned, but the following day the agency sent someone to clean it. -

My husband, another couple and two dogs stayed here at Riverwood. We had a wonderful time. The outdoor space is divine- we had dinners on the deck, bocce ball on the grass, sunning at the river and great relaxation. The home is clean and nicely decorated. We did not even leave the property for our weekend stay. A fabulous vacation for both dogs and humans. Loved it and would stay here again.

This space worked really well for myself, my daughter and her 2 and half yr. old...we could visit...walk right down to our little beach and play in the mud and rocks and walk to our island..the dog could play..my elderly aunt visited and had great lunch with us on the deck...then I could take the toddler to the water and let the others visit...the dog loved it too, now all fenced..I liked that you could bring your car inside the gate ...helpful when baby fell asleep in the car..enjoyed the hot tub..did not like the carpets..

We had a great stay at Riverwood during the week of July 4th. Monte Rio puts on a fireworks show and we were able to see it through the trees on the balcony while our toddler slept in the house. The deck is great because you can close it off and have the dog + child stay on the deck and play. The grassy area below is great for exploring and the beach area was perfect for the first 1/2 of the trip.
A few negatives: It is cooler in Monte Rio than it is in Guerneville. The breeze came right onto the deck and beach area. We would've liked it to be a little warmer, and the weather website predicted much warmer weather than we had (probably by ~10 degrees). The water level rose halfway through our visit and became too high to cross the river. Luckily it was after the best weather so we enjoyed the lower water level earlier in the week. Not sure if this was from runoff or high tide or what. The dog loved it though! :)
Overall it was a great trip. The place is nice and comfortable with lots of amenities. The hot tub was great for the cooler days. And we cooked several nights in addition to using the barbecue. Overall a wonderful week.Response from Russian River Getaways - 07/15/2010

So glad these guests liked Riverwood so much. Just one comment. Monte Rio is generally the same temperature as Guerneville, at most a couple of degrees cooler. It's only four miles west of Guerneville. The river level does fluctuate there due to tidal influence.

I would have liked to have known that there was a 2 lane road right behind the house. That really bothered me. The rugs were so filthy--but the owner let us know they were going to clean them right after we left--smelled like dog poop down by the lawn....um, and there wasn't a comfortable to read in....annnnnd we had a lovely time playing and kayaking in the river and loved the hot tub...we would use RRG again--but will ask more questions

We had a wonderful time at Riverwood Cottage. As usual, Russian River Getaways provided excellent service from initial enquiry through the end of the rental. The cabin itself is small and functional, but not overly luxurious, but the outdoor space is amazing!!! The deck is a great size and gets plenty of shade and that's just the beginning of it. Walk downstairs to the back lawn and you come to the delightful lawn flanked by lovely natural landscaping. A flagstone path leads you across two small bridges spanning a lush gully on your way down to the river itself. During the height of summer, you can easily cross a very shallow strech of river to get to a flat rock beach to enjoy the sun for the day. Because the house is in Monte Rio you are spared the endless canoe traffic you get in Guerneville and it is an easy walk/swim/drive to Monte Rio Beach if you care to rent kyaks or canoes. The area is very dog friendly and my two had a blast. There is plenty of shopping and dining in Monte Rio or Duncan's Mill and peace and quiet galore! I don't think I would rent this cabin except in summer because the outdoor space is really what makes it exceptional, but I would definitely come back in the warm weather. The stairs down to the lawn are a little steep and the access to the river is down some kind of tricky steps, but bad knees and all, it was so beautiful and such a pleasure to spend time outside that it was worth the extra effort to get to it. I slept out on the deck under the stars and was especially happy about the very quiet hot tub, which by the way, even in the heat of August, was perfect in the early morning and late evening.

When we first arrived at the cabin, I was stunned by the natural beauty of the location---the cabin had very beautiful landscaping which was natural and was very harmonious with the redwoods and surroundings. There were beautiful wooden brides that crossed over a small stream running through the lot, and then a small windy path lined with blackberry bushes that led to small wood steps leading directly into the river through a small clearing in the foliage. About 30 feet into the river there is an island with a pebbly shore which was the perfect place to take the dogs during the day to play fetch in the river and to just absorb the gorgeous surroundings. The water was clear and was not too cold to swim in.
The cabin itself was very nice and had all necessary amenities. It was cozy and definitely made us feel at home. The deck was very nice and we used the charcoal grill to cook dinners. The spa was nice, but the days we were there the chemicals were a bit strong, but that may just be a temporary situation.
To be honest, the natural location is what sells this rental, and my husband and I did not spend much time in the cabin itself, besides sleeping and some food preparation because the weather and surroundings were so gorgeous.
We brought our 4 dogs with us, and they had a blast!! Despite the lack of official, sturdy fencing around the property, they stayed put and were so happy playing on the grass and in the water.
This vacation was a dream! -

This was a great home with wonderful views and all the comforts of home. My dog loved the yard and walks to town each morning for the paper. It was a perfect place to use as a base camp for wine tasting in the Russian River area. Plus, close enough to the coast for day trips to Jenner and Bodega Bay.
