MartinezRussian River Getaways - poor management
Left on 04/06/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We have been coming to Russian River for years and have used Russian River Getaways several times, although it had probably been about 4 years since we last used them due to some tough economic times for our family. So we finally have the opportunity to stay in one of the vacation homes and it ended up being kind of a nightmare experience. We initially chose the Casa Verde, which had loads of charm and a gorgeous view from the wall of windows. With that said, unfortunately the potential was there, but the home needed some much needed maintenance. The hot tub was extremely hard and dangerous to get into, and that was proven when my partner fell on the dilapidated steps injuring her knee. The thing that put the nail in the coffin for our stay here was the plumbing in the shower. The drainage was so slow, that the water nearly overflowed out of the shower after only about 7 minutes. This was clearly an issue when we discovered the major water leakage into the hallway after taking the shower. The water damage was clearly visible on the wood floor and it looked like it had been that way for quite some time.
So we called RRG to see about transferring to a different property and they placed us in Twin Palms. The positives of this home include gorgeous view, river access, very spacious & bright and lots of toys including the ping pong table. The negatives include no working stereo or dvd player and too many stairs to convince our blind dog to climb, not to mention no yard area for the dogs!(we mentioned this to RRG several times about our special needs dog) Plus this home didn't have half the charm of Casa Verde, great for large families, but not very romantic.
In summary, we probably won't be staying in any of the RRG vacation homes in the future. We felt that our needs weren't considered when we wanted to relocate; they just put us in the whatever they wanted to rent out. Our time off is way too precious & rare to have to deal with these types of inconveniences. -

Redding CAWe Had a very Nice Stay
Left on 10/17/2012 for a stay in September 2012
The stay at Twin Palms was prompted by the Russian River Jazz and Blues festival we attended. The house will accomodate 3 couples easy and is practical and comfortable. Plenty of everything a normal house would have and lots of float toys for enjoying the river which we did to float down to the venue. There is a nice jacuzzi we really enjoyed and it was clean. One thing I saw in pictures, but did not consider was all the stairs. Be sure you are in shape because they are a workout. 20 steps up from the car and 20 steps back down! And even more to the river. There were no issues so we did not have to call anyone and the arraingements made by phone were honest, knowledgable and efficient. The code key entry is awesome, like it's your very own house. The only real complaint I have is the BBQ looked nice but just barely worked on only one half the burner area and you could almost hand plates of food to the the neighboring house deck it is that close. We would definately stay there again though (after many stairmaster workouts).

Oakland, CANo TV or DVD or Internet for half my stay
Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in May 2012
For $300/night I would have expected at least the same services that I could get at a Motel 6. When we arrived neither the TV nor the DVD nor the Internet worked at all. We called the after-hours telephone number that was provided and left a message, but nobody came out after hours. Someone came the following day around noon to fix the problems. She was great; she acknowledged that the equipment did not work, and she fixed it. She said that I would receive some sort of refund. When no refund was forthcoming I wrote directly to Russian River Getaways to ask about the refund. I never heard anything back from them and never received any refund.
Aside from the lousy equipment and unresponsive rental office, the house itself was only ok. It wasn't the cleanest, either; The deck chairs had a layer of dirt on them that you could scrape off with a knife. Also, the house is right off of Route 116, so it's pretty loud.Response from Russian River Getaways - 07/16/2012

Wow, this review is so unrelentlessly horrible in the face of most people's being quite happy with the house and our services that I'm not sure how to respond. Things sometimes break down, and that is beyond our control. If the after hours tech did not respond right away, she may have not received the message. We ask guests to call back if they don't hear back soon, because when a cell phone is out of range, messages sometimes are delayed or lost. Our techs also know better than to ever tell a guest they will receive a refund, and we don't do them automatically. We have received no request for a refund from you. The house was inspected and clean prior to arrival. We are in a rural area so decks do not stay city-clean. The house is on a dead-end street parallel to 116, and the outdoor spaces face away from the street, so it's actually pretty quiet. -Rachel, general manager

San FranciscoBeautiful home, fence not dog-secure
Left on 03/01/2012 for a stay in February 2012
The home is lovely, and the first hour or so were perfect. Then, to my horror, I saw my dachshund in a yard down the road, terrorizing a cat. Once I got him back, I tried to secure various spots along the fence from which he could have escaped.
For the rest of the weekend, I had to have the dog on the leash, or inside the house. This significantly impeded my relaxation.
So - don't expect a dog-secure fence!Response from Russian River Getaways - 03/18/2012

I'm sure this experience was quite upsetting, but there's no fenced yard listed in our house description, so I'm not sure why you thought there was one. Some riverfront homes have fenced yards, but most don't, for obvious reasons. If this is important to you, please ask next next time. -General Manager

Our family had a lovely time enjoying the Russian River and our stay at Twin Palms. The morning sun and view of the river from the deck was wonderful. It was great to have river access via the dock plus the use of the canoe and kayaks was awesome. Being so close to town was also convenient-we even took the "river" route into town to get some groceries! We also appreciate the "dog friendly" accomodations- Leo,our dog had a great time swimming in the river too!

Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We rented Twim Palms for our annual Labor Day all women's retreat. The location was fantasitc. The rooms and layout of the house and property was thouroughly enjoyable. The trail to the dock was absolutely beautiful, the bamboo surrounding the trail made it so inviting and decadent. We loved the locatoin on the river and really appreciated the plethora of flotation devices available in the garage, it made our river time that much more enjoyable!!
We love Twin Palms and will be back again next year. -

LafayetteNice house, great service, so-so location, bad TV
Left on 09/02/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The house was clean, and someone had left some lovely floral arrangements, which was a nice touch. The beds are not very comfortable, however. This house can be described as being "on the river" but is so far above it, it does not feel like it's anywhere near the river. We never even considered hauling the boats down all those stairs.
The most annoying thing was that it advertised "cable" TV but we only got one or two good-content channels, and the rest were those awful merchandise channels. Closet door was off hinges in master BR. Although one can walk to town, this house is not really "convenient" to anything. Overall, what we got was not really worth the price, but the house was comfortable, and the kitchen was great, and we had a good time. Being able to have the dog there was a huge plus. Also, whenever we had any issues or problems, the concierge folks were all over it. They were tremendously helpful and timely. -

San DiegoGreat location, comfortable house, great water toys
Left on 08/13/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Spectacular location, we spent a lot of time in the river, swimming and kayaking. The house included fun "water toys", which was very convenient. It was also great to be able to walk to town. The house itself was very comfortable. The only drawback we encountered was that the sheets in one of the trundle beds did not look clean (maybe they had not been changed from the prior guests?) Overall, the rental house worked great, and we had a wonderful time.

What a great week!! This house has EVERYTHING you need! Great location - just a short walk to town, and on a beautiful section of the river. Check-in/out was simple and easy. Thanks so much to RR Getaways and the property owners who set up and maintain this house to be a fantastic rental!!

Hello
This letter is not directed to you personally but it is intended to inform Russian River Getaways that this house was in need of alot of repairs. Maybe the owners ingnore, do not care or maybe they just have not been notified or checked on regular maintenance.
We spent our week 7/22 to 7/29 at the Twin Palms #20592. We really enjoyed the beauty and the views of this house, however we felt that for the amount of money we spent to stay we were very dissappointed in the amenities that were offered. If you require an expensive fee then this house should be up to par. The refrigerator scraped really badly and would not stay closed which made things parrish and leak from freezer and frigerator. The house was very dirty when we arrived, the cleaners may have cleaned but they were certainly in a hurry and sloppy. When we would try to use the kayaks, canoe and water gear, they all had leaks or holes therefore we did not have much to use, we then had to buy our own raft to be able to enjoy the dock and water. One of the green kayaks has a massive hole on the bottom and is not useable, we did not know and got into some deep trouble when it tried to sink with family member used it. I also think that the dock area is unsafe. If sits very lopsided and has a 1 foot gap between dock and land this is a safety issue.
We are not trying to be difficult at all and we were so excited for this new trip and spent almost $2500.00 just on the one week stay. We just feel that if the fee is so high then please keep up the maintenance of the amenities and the house its self.
We would not recommend or come back if this is the way all the houses are kept. I work in a business that we have to service the members and we have high standards to keep our faciltiy spotless and safe with things working in proper order. I get complaints too but we always reply to the members and try to resolve their issue. We keep striving for gold standards as we charge expensive rResponse from Russian River Getaways - 08/10/2009

Hi, we appreciate the feedback, but wish the guests had contacted us immediately. Once we knew about these problems, they were all corrected within half an hour. There was one small hole in one of the boats which we patched; the other boats were fine. The refrigerator hinge just needed adjusting, the dock was a little lop-sided and it took a few minutes to level it, and there is no gap between the dock and the shore. All guests are asked to call the office or our 24/7 emergency number if there are any problems at the house. We take care of everything humanly possible right away.
