Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

We stayed here with our 9 year old son for half term.The keys were easily picked up from the owners just a short distance up the road, who were very nice people. The lovely house backs right on to the river and we loved watching the ducks and swans at the bottom of the garden. Whitby is only a 15 minute walk away or a 2 minute train ride, the local station being just at the end of the road.The house is very clean and comfortable, well equipped and is full of beautiful pictures and the views over the river are delightful. We will definitely return.

The accommodation was difficult because of all the stairs.Tea making facilities in the bedroom would have been lovely as making an early morning cup of tea and drinking it in bed was not easy!!

The photos on the web site don't do the cottage justice. It was much bigger than we expected, very comfortable with everything you need for a perfect family holiday. The river and the ducks and swans were a great attraction for the children (and dog!), as were the steam trains passing just on the other side of the river.
The only thing missing from the house was a visitor's pack. We stay in a lot of self catering properties and it's nice to start the holiday browsing through a welcome pack which gives useful information about the house and the area.
The village is quiet but with some good attractions. Mini steam railway, rowing boats and a pub that sells excellent meals (although it's not a great pub for atmosphere). There is also a fabulous butcher's shop which we found too late in the week!
It is very close to Whitby, with regular buses and a very pleasant footpath that takes around half an hour.
We would definitely recommend this cottage to families. -

Although this is not an olde world Yorkshire cottage, it proved to be an ideal venue for holidaying in this part of the country. The layout of the house is different - 3 floors with a large comfortable living room on the 2nd floor, kitchen/diner downstairs and 3 good bedrooms on the 3rd floor. The property was well equipped with everything you need though when we arrived there were no towels! A quick call to the Landlord and this was soon rectified. We took our 2 Grandchildren (2 Girls 10 & 8) and they loved it especially with the river at the bottom of the garden - they fed the ducks did a bit of fishing. Overall a thoroughly good experience.

The house was very well equipped and the owner very friendly. The location was an ideal base for visiting Whitby and the local area. Ruswarp is a nice small village with a few tourist type attractions. Steam trains run past the house and these were a welcome extra. The only drawback, which we did not appreciate fully until we stayed, was that as the house was on three floors there were a lot of stairs.

A great holiday town house by the side of the river. Views out from the kitchen over the water with birds, ducks and geese constantly entertaining.
The Steam trains going over the bridge nearby add real atmosphere. Plenty of room on 3 levels with fairly step stairs makes the cottage more suited for the fit and the slightly older family but its well equiped and very comfortable.
