Additional Location Information
Sables d’Or les Pins
Sables d’Or les Pins, an atypical seaside resort. The remarkable site of Sables d’Or les Pins was discovered before the first World War by Roland Brouard, estate agent from Ille et Vilaine. The dream of Roland Brouard and his friends was to turn Sables d’Or les Pins into a daring and modern resort.
That is how a large part of de Sables d’Or les Pins, which did not have roads and was isolated for a long time, started to host horse and car rallies, concerts and galas… At that time Sables d’Or Les Pins was as famous as La Baule and Deauville.
Today Sables d’Or les Pins offers wide avenues, villas surrounded by lawns and pine trees, giving an impression of space and calm.
The South beach along the lagoon shaped by the dune is a great place for beach games and sailing activities in an exceptional setting.
Enjoy numerous walks among peaceful alleys, flowery valleys, along the large family beach.
Today Sables d’Or Les Pins will seduce you with its 18 hole golf course, 7 tennis courts, casino, beach club, safe beach, sailing school and many restaurants which will introduce you to the flavours of our region.
Frehel’s village, is a busy town with several local shops: bars, restaurants, pharmacy, tourist office, hair salon, pork butcher’s, bakery, etc. Many services are also available, such as nurses, taxi-ambulances…, town hall, two schools and a hall. The cultural center Grande Abbaye (Big Abbey) leads you to the Public Library, free and open to all, the cybervillage, an exhibiting hall and the day care center turned to a leisure center in summer.
In Pleherel plage, there is a XIIIth century renovated Chapel, bordered by the last Celtic cemetery of North Brittany.
Pleherel used to be a fishermen’s village and it offers a beautiful and secured sandy beach and a great view on Cap Fréhel. This crescent beach called Anse du Croc is protected on the West side by the cliffs overlooking the chapel of the Old Village.
Many activities are available: tennis, horse riding, sailing school, surfing, archery, table tennis, bowling green, mini golf and a wide variety of hiking possibilities along the coastal path or in the countryside.
And also hidden treasures of small heritage: the old mill of Routin, the fountain of Resnel, and many more…
This small hamlet of houses made of pink sandstone was built at the end of 19th century to house quarry workers. While walking, biking or horse riding, you will pass along a golf course, come across a well and an historical mansion with breathtaking view on the shore.
