The only way to do St. Andrews! This truly was a trip of a lifetime and the Monarchs House was fantastic in every way. The manor is gorgeous, with everything and anything you need. The bedrooms were comfortable, the dining area was regal, and the parlor was cozy and the perfect place for entertaining. Kevin was an outstanding host and resource. The meals were better than any restaurant, and the staff was always on top of any need/desire. The location was ideal as it was easy to walk to town for sightseeing, shopping, fine dining, or just to sit in a local pub. Outstanding in every way!

Monarch's House is a gem at the home of golf. A wonderful house affording all the necessary comforts supported by a great staff. Kevin Low defines customer service. He has a wonderful demeanor and goes out of his way to ensure his guests are treated as royalty and have their every need catered to. He is also a great chef! Monarch's House is the only way to spend a week of golf at St. Andrews. The comforts of home while being pampered as a special guest!

My friend and I had a phenomenal stay at Monarchs House. The amenities were great (big bedrooms, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, full kitchen, cozy living room w/ fireplace, widescreen TV, etc.), but the best thing was that the service was top-notch. Kevin greeted us very warmly and told us all we needed to know about the house and the surrounding area, and he made us feel right at home. He was able to answer all of our questions regarding things to do/places to eat/nightlife. Rascal's (5 minutes away) was our favorite place to eat - make sure to get there for a meal. Also, a full, amazing breakfast is served in the morning which is a great start to the day. The house is located extremely close to the Old Course and the other attractions (castle, cathedral ruins, etc.). Overall an excellent choice for your visit to St. Andrews.

We spent Christmas 2011 in this wonderful house in beautiful St andrews. It provided the perfect antidote to the bleak Scottish winter - roaring fires, plush, cosy furnishings and all the charm of a feel good Christmas movie. The property manages a perfect dichotomy of opulence and comfort - the bedrooms are vast, tastefully decorated and each with their own en suite. The kitchen was extensively kitted out and the reception rooms were all you've ever wanted to come home to. My abiding memory is sipping a dram by the fireside on Christmas Eve and never wanting to leave.
I cannot fault any part of our stay and the staff were utterly charming, knowledgeable and eager to assist. I would recommend this house wholeheartedly to any large party keen to experience the very best of Scottish hospitality. 5 stars. -

We recently spent a week in St. Andrews and stayed at Monarchs House. Kevin Low, the house manager, and his staff made us feel so at home. He took care of transportation details, made dinner reservations, attended to our every need. It made our week worry free. The house is wonderful...a great place to come home to after a day of golf or sight seeing. Each couple had their own private space, yet we loved gathering in the great room next to the fire. Kevin prepared dinner for us one night. The dining room looked beautiful and dinner was delicious. The location of the house is within walking distance to restaurants and historical attractions. I would highly recommend Monarchs House to anyone considering visiting St. Andrews.

Hamilton, BermudaA wonderful base in the home of golf
Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I stayed at Monarch's House with seven other lads from Bermuda in June 2012. We do an annual golf tour to Scotland, and where possible we find a house that can accommodate all of us. Monarch's House was just perfect for our group.
The position of the house is wonderful for the town and the golf in St. Andrews. Hospitality at the house is first class, and Kevin Low will go to whatever lengths are needed to ensure you have a great stay. With the extras such as bar service and evening meals, it is very easy to become ensconced at Monarchs House for a week and never want to leave.
If I have any feedback that is not totally positive it is that firstly, parking near to the house can be a bit difficult, but rarely impossible. Also, the 8th bedroom is really a TV room and isn't perfect as a bedroom. Even if it had a proper bed, it is still on a different floor than its own bathroom, which is a bit inconvenient.
Anyway, the positives of Monarchs House far outweigh any negatives. Our group had a wonderful time.

The accomodations are very comfortable, homelike, and tailored, ...not overdone or fussy. The highlight: Kevin Low and his staff. These fine people make this destination an extraordinary experience. Appearing effortless, every detail is flawlessly delivered: ground transport, green fees, caddies, restaurants, recommended siteseeing spots, trip tips and suggestions, and so on. Kevin is a very talented chef as well. Our group of 8 golfers unanimously agreed that Monarchs House and Kevin deserve our highest ratings, referrals, and repeat business. We intend to visit again and highly recommend this destination. The golf? We played the Old Course more than once, thanks to Kevin's very adept play of the on-line lottery. Other courses he arranged for us were Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, Crail Balcomie - all three of which we'd put on our list of "must play again" courses. Thank you, Mike and Kevin, for a true "trip of a lifetime" experience.

Originally a planned group of eight, six of us ventured to St. Andrews at a time that might have been questionable for favorable weather and golf. The ancient gods of the land of the Scots smiled upon us with outstandingly favorable weather and equally favorable outcomes on the golf ballots for the Old Course.
While some golfed, others enjoyed the hiking trails, shopping and fine food. Tours of distillaries also rounded out our adventures. St. Andrews University held a special attraction since we were all linked in some way to universities in the USa (faculty and administration.)
The house was a wonderful and elegant "basecamp" for our adventures. Everything went very smoothly. The staff was professional and went out of their way to fulfill our wishes. As experienced travelers we appreciated the notion of being able to return each day to a home, not a hotel. And every morning we recounted our adventures around the breakfast table as Olive and Susan filled out orders. The house manager, Kevin, went out of his way to meet our needs, secure additional information and provide resources during our stay. We would all highly recommend Monarchs House !

I had the best time ever at Monarch's House. The location is perfect to go exploring in town, whether to shop or check out a great restaurant or pub. The staff makes you feel like you are part of their family and made me feel so welcome. I will plan an annual trip there and tell the world about this amazing place.

Essex MABest Golf trip experience of my life
Left on 12/01/2010 for a stay in October 2010
The Monarchs House is beyond anything I have ever experienced on a golf trip. Being in the heart of St. Andrews of course added to it, and I had never golfed in Scotland before, but I insist that this is the way to go. The service from breakfast, golf arrangments, travel arrangements, comfort post-round back at the house, and the dinners (Wow, the dinners) was exceptional. The concierge is a lovely Scotsman named Kevin and he became our life-long friend in a week at the house. His demeanor puts you at ease and he delivers everything he says he will. Just a great guy. I suppose someone else might have been as good, but I would have to see him to believe it. He and the house and the town and the golf all combined to make this a fantastic trip. Go. Walk the town at night, see the history of St. Andrews cathedral, visit the restaurants and bars and lose yourself in time at this beautiful place. The only reason I left the Value category empty is because I had nothing to do with the payment of this house. Otherwise its 5-stars across from my perspective.

I took 7 friends up to St andrews, and stayed at The Monarchs House. [3 had been to St andrews before]. Without exception all 8 of us would judge this as the best golfing trip we have had...and this coming from a group of regular well travelled golfers. The day we returned we all immediately wanted to put the date in our diary for what will now be our annual pilgrimage. Well one Monarchs House, you made this trip so special.

For the opportunity to play some of the best golf courses on the planet - from the legendary Old Course to the stunning new Kingsbarns and everything in between - many diehards would happily sleep in a tent. That we were able to play these magnificent courses and stay in a beautiful, comfortable home managed by a crack staff which attended to all of our needs (from tee times and airport taxis to fresh breakfasts and restaurant reservations, they do it all and make it look easy) only guaranteed that none of the 8 among us who shared this experience could imagine a better week.
For those of you looking for a once-in-a-lifetime golf vacation at once-a-year prices, Monarch's House is the place. -

Monarch's House is a splendid 8 bedroom manor that is a short walk to the Old Course. The accomodations were perfect. There is a large siting area and dinning room to gather in. The breakfasts and dinners cooked by Kevin were superb. The staff also took care of all of our transportation and golf arrangements. Everything went very smoothly and everyone in our group was impressed with the comfort and service. It was a return trip for a few in our group and we are all looking forward to comming back.

If traveling from the us. Not only is Monarchs House the best value but the location, staff and accomadations are simply incredible. I heard about Monarchs house for years from friends who had visited and what a great trip it is was and how everyone should make this trip. St andrews has no comparison for those who truly appreciate the history of golf and quite possibly for those who don't. Monarchs House is in the perfect location for both golf and pleasure. Located right in town, golfers can walk to St andrews. After golf, all the town has to offer is merely a block away. I have been on a great number of golf trips where I said, " I had a great time." I came home from St andrews and said " I can not wait to go back!"
