The perfect combination of vintage charm and modern convenience, our ocean front house, Surf Crest Cottage, is an ideal way to vacation on St. Augustine Beach. The shady front balcony overlooks the dunes, giving you a gorgeous view of the horizon!<br/>Surf Crest Cottage is part of a small, family-friendly group of "house-dominiums" grouped around a sparkling swimming pool on the shores of beautiful St. Augustine Beach, just minutes from the Old City. Privacy is paramount here, and you'll feel miles from the hustle and bustle as you stretch out in one of the Adirondack chairs on our front porch, gazing at the natural dune and pure blue F...lorida sky. It's hard to believe you're in the heart of great sightseeing, shopping, dining, and golfing country when pelicans glide past and the surf murmurs!<br/>Surf Crest Cottage is a laid-back, nicely furnished, beautifully maintained beach house, with everything you need from a working fireplace (great in winter!) to a bicycle you're welcome to borrow! Two sets of sliding glass doors lead out to the covered porch and overlook the dunes, so you're never far from the view. And even though you're part of a complex, the cottage is completely freestanding and separate. It truly is the best of both worlds!<br/>The covered porch will quickly become your favorite place at Surf Crest Cottage, but when you must go indoors, it's hard to feel disappointed. A 32" HDTV with DVD player greets you from the armoire in the living room, faced by an ultra-comfy couch that unfolds into a queen-sized bed. (Best view in the cottage!) The fireplace adds a cozy touch, the tile floor feels cool on hot beach feet, and the overall ambiance is one of relaxation and comfort.<br/>The dining room table is adjacent to the living area, with a lovely view through the second set of sliding glass doors. There's room for the whole group around this table, and it's a great place to wage a pitched battle of Monopoly or a wild round of Uno. If you want to bring your laptop with you, the light is great here, and you have free WiFi at Surf Crest Cottage. Update your Facebook status and keep your friends back home apprised of all your St. Augustine adventures!<br/>The kitchen is tucked behind the living and dining areas, and you'll appreciate how well-stocked the cupboards are. If you decide to prepare a home-cooked meal, you'll find all the cookware, dishes, utensils, and glasses you need. On the other hand, if you are avoiding the stove this vacation, be sure to use the microwave to reheat those yummy restaurant meals! In our kitchen you'll find a side-by-side fridge with ice and water in the door, a double stainless-steel sink, granite countertops, a coffeemaker, and all the gadgets and gizmos that make your time in the kitchen easier.<br/>Down the hall from the kitchen is a utility area, with a washer and dryer (help yourself!) and a linen closet, completely stocked with all the sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels you need for every bed and bath at Surf Crest Cottage. We've tried to think of everything, so you need never make one of those emergency trips to Wal-mart for a can opener or a spare pillow!<br/>There are 2 bedrooms at Surf Crest Cottage, one full bath, and one half-bath. The master bedroom is spacious, with a king-sized bed that you will fall in love with, plus plenty of closet space. It is convenient to the full bath, which contains a granite-topped vanity and spacious walk-in shower.<br/>The second bedroom offers a queen-sized bed, and has the half-bath en suite.   Awesome awesome awesome. Rated 5 on all categories. Would have loved to have been able to actually see the beach from the house but the house and atmosphere made up for it. Everyone was polite and the cozy little area was very well kept and clean. The house was just like a little cottage which we loved!!!

  Not worth the hassle for a clean, well-located home

  Overall, the home was very comfortable and in a great locationâ??beachsideâ??but with no view of the ocean due to the sand dunes. The place was stocked with cleaning supplies, plenty of towels & sheets, and dining essentials, although the floor was very dirty. It had an outdoor shower and hose, plenty of seating inside and out, and comfortable beds. The sofa bed was brand new. We bought and left a mop there because our feet were black after walking around the place for a few minutes. Other than the floor, the home was clean and well-kept. The addition of a grill and a very large platter would be great for future guests. We were very pleased with the home, the community and the beachfront locationâ??the beach was just a walk across the pier!
