What Past Guests Are Saying
Lovely hosts, lovely cottage, lovely setting, marvelous weekend!
It was a great weekend, the weather cooperated and we found the whole experience to be something we would like to repeat next year. The cottage was beyond cozy, it was clean, spacious, well equipped and inviting. Our hosts were hands-on, very accommodating and very friendly. We had a lovely breakfast service, the view was serene and just made the whole experience exceptional.

Great memories from Nokara farms
Staying at Nokara farms was a delightful experience for our family. My 3 young children, almost a year after our stay, ask me when are we going back. Every morning of our stay we were waiting to see Katryn arrive with such wonderful pastry. Delicious. We really felt welcome. Thanks farmer Joe for taking us to visit the property. The children absolutely loved feeding chickens "like real farmers" . We would definitely stay there again.
Best combination of quiet, comfortable surroundings & personal s
Great service from Kathryn and Joe, the morning sampler deliveries from the bakery were a great feature - our 20mth daughter loved them! The cottage was great, with a comic edge - the slant of the floor in main room did make me wonder if "the boathouse" might be a more appropriate name ("she's listing to port, Captain...") Location is perfect - feels like you're outin the country (which you are) but you're just a short drive to town. The views from the cottages are just great, and I'd only suggest one thing really - how about a towel rail in the bathroom for bath towels? If we're back in the area, this will be our first choice for accommodation. So much more interesting than a hotel!
Home away from home
Kathryn was a fantastic hostess. The location was a perfect getaway from home, not too far and a cozy place. My friends and I had a great stay and couldn't have created better memories during the thanksgiving weekend.
Breakfast snacks were awesome (cinnamon buns, empire cookies, pumpkin bars, strawberries, pears and muffins).
Would definitely come back to stay in the future.
A beautiful lakeside get-away
It is always a pleasure to stay at Joe and Kathryn's cottage. They are the perfect hosts, the place is beautifully decorated and equipped, surrounded by the lake, peach orchards and vineyards.
Calming,Serene and peaceful !
Each morning we had warm freshley baked goods, which were place decoratively on a plate, delivered to our door by 9-9:30am. These goodies were heavenly!
The cottage is spacious and cozy, just what we were looking for, equiped with all the needs to prep a great meal, and it's so easy to eat fresh by purchasing produce fresh from the Nokara market...yummy!
The view from the cottage is spectacular and when the day is clear you have a great sight of the Toronto skyline, our daughter got a kick from it. Waking up to the sound of the lake was the icing on the cake.
When we wanted to get out, we would just walk around the grounds or we would go for just a short ride to Port Dolhousie, were you can get an ice cream, take a walk on the boardwalk or stop for some lunch. There is always something to do. Otherwise you can do nothing but relax back at the cottage. We have stayed at Nokara guests cottages twice so far and we would like to make visits annually, trying all five Cottages!
Great location and great hosts!
We stayed at the Lake House for 5 days and absolutely loved it. The view is amazing. You can see lake Ontario stretching out and even the Toronto skyline in the distance on a clear day. The cottage is new so everything was in mint condition. The rooms very cosy, clean and with character and the kitchen has all the equipment you can think of.
The best treat was having Kathryn deliver her freshly baked breakfast every morning! Scones, muffins, tarts, savoury snacks and fresh fruit (I really mean it when I say fresh as it grows on site).
Kathryn and Joe are truly likeable, warm people.
The location of the farm is great, only a 20-minute drive to the Falls and 15 minutes to Niagara-on-the-Lake. The nearby Welland locks are definitely worth a visit and so are the many wineries and maple syrup factories.
We would definitely go back and we highly recommend this place. We already miss it.
Perfect relaxing getaway with Lake Ontario view
We had a fantastic week at this farm cottage- exactly what it was set up to be! location is perfect, on a nice quiet farm with gorgeous view of the lake. delicious and fresh breakfast pastries and fruits from the hosts was a super nice bonus. cottage very clean and welcoming-- small, but functional. amenities just right, including a bonfire pit with firewood. felt perfect for a quiet, low key getaway we needed, away from city life; yet close enough to major shops within 10 minutes if needed. also, close to great wineries, restaurants/bars in charming towns, and 20 minutes only to Niagara Falls amusement/events. on top of all of that, the best part was the hospitality of the wonderful couple who own the land and cottages. Our young children came back home still talking about the exciting and infamous "Farmer Joe"-- who gave us fun tours and a wagon ride through the farm. We look forward to returning during our next trip to North america.

Beautiful Cabin , great views and wonderful hosts!
The views were beautiful and the cabin was well furnished. Joe and Katherine were wonderful hosts. Katherine brought a delicious breakfast every morning and Joe took us out into the orchard to pick our own fruit. My entire family had a great time!! We will definitely re-visit this wonderful place!!

Gorgeous scenery with gracious hosts
My family stayed at the Lakehouse Cottage from July 30th through august 2nd 2012 and had an absolutely wonderful time. I feel that this was perfectly situated close enough to attractions while not being in the "thick of things". Kathryn took the time every day to make us feel like part of her family. The personal touch we received with our stay is second to none.
We received a wonderful breakfast every morning consisting of freshly baked goodies which gave us a great start to the day.
There is no a/C in the cottage which is not that big of a deal despite what you might initially think. During our stay it was 33C (~40C with the humidex) almost every day and not once did I feel overwhelmed. The cool breeze off the lake coupled with many windows and ceiling fans made for a very comfortable stay.
One of the best parts of this cottage for us was the full kitchen. When we arrived we immediately went into St. Catharines and purchased our perishable food items which saved hundreds of dollars on eating out. No parent would dare argue with this convenience.
In contrast to the traditional 2 queen hotel room we had the night before, this is outstanding with no comparison. My wife and I enjoyed this so much we have decided never to stay in a traditional "hotel" room with the kids again unless we have no choice.
There is no bathtub in this cottage for those of you that are strict bathers. This wasn't an issue for us.
I can't say that there was one thing we needed that we couldn't find. Paper towels, dish soap, plates, kids glasses (plastic) it was all there.
If you go during peach season be sure to pick up a basket. Literally the best peaches I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Big, juicy, sweet. Do not take this for granted! Ontario produce is the best!
Thank you Kathryn and Joe for the wonderful experience. I'm sure my kids won't forget the golf cart ride and chicken catching lesson!
Very nice place to stay!
Great place, beautifull view and cottage very nicely decorated and furnished. The owners thought about everything! There's even Cu-tips in the bathroom! Bbq, fireplace outside, cable, dvd's, games. The owner are friendly. The breakfast is well done, fresh but a bit sweet. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll probably like it. if not, keep it as a dessert later. We'll surely come back.
Relaxing, tranquil, amazing view, lovely owners and much more!!
This is our second visit to the Riesling, what an amazing place to stay. The location is great, the view over lake Ontario is amazing with beautiful sunsets. Kathryn and Joe the owners are lovely people, nothing is too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking to visit St Catharines, you will definitely not be disappointed. Keep up the good work Kathryn and Joe.
Location is great, close to Port Dalhousie, not far away from Niagara-on-the-lake or Niagara Falls. Love the food from the stand and the peaches. Would appreciate opportunity of having a choice between breakfast and rebate at the stand. (we are picky and eat very early). Cottage well equiped with everything you need.
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 08/15/2012
Thank you for your suggestion Maryse, This is something we will consider. I know there is so much more to choose from at our farm market/fruit stand. We are glad you had a good time here in Niagara.
Wonderful cottage in a beautiful setting
The cottage was perfect for our family of 4. The kids could run around on the grass while we enjoyed the gorgeous view - vineyards to the south and Lake Ontario to the north. The hosts, Kathryn & Joe, went out of their way to make sure we were happy and comfortable (they offered us a portable aC unit when the temp hit 42 degrees celsius!). Great location for touring wineries, playing golf, and the beach in Port Dalhousie. We will definitely be back!
absolutely fantastic place for a great getaway !..I met up with a great friend that i hadn't seen in 12 yrs, and we had such a great time. Everyone always mentions the "extras" with a personal touch, but it is so true. We looked forward to the breakfast platter-knowing that it was homebaked goods (made it that much more special) and the chitchatting with you every morning was wonderful..all the insights to the place and surrounding areas. The knowledge that Joe had for the natural environment, that both Kathryn and Joe had, with the interests for the local native birds and animals was wonderful to listen to. We had such fun checking out the local areas and what it offerred. Definitely a great retreat from the every day routine.
Only thing i can think of that would have made this a definite "10", would be if you had air-conditioning in the cottages, or an indoor pool area (indoor, because there are alot of Canada geese! haha)
Thank you again for a wonderful visit..letting us stay a couple of extra hours because of a late flight time, was exceptional.. Would go again ..take care Doris, Edmonton, Alberta
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 08/05/2012
Thank you for your review. It was nice to see that the two of you were always so happy. I am glad that your reunion worked out so well. We have had some warm weather this summer and have spent a little more time jumping into the lake to cool off that is for sure. Usually the evening cools off enough with the breeze off the lake. Ontario definately has warmer weather than you are used to in Alberta though : ) Have a wonderful rest of the summer - Kathryn
Cottage was spotless, view was gorgeous, Kathryn very accommodating. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Nokara Cottages to anyone.
Teaneck, New Jersey
Very relaxing. Just what I needed.
We stayed in a two bedroom cottage with all the fixings. The cottage overlooked Lake Ontario. It was one of the hottest weeks on record but there was a nice breeze coming off the lake that cooled everything to a comfortable level. Our intention was to see Niagara Falls without staying at a tourist attraction. This was perfect. Kathyn and Joe were delightful and the pastries served in the morning were to die for.
We had a wonderful time.
Cottage was very clean and it had all the facilities we expected.
Kathryn was kind and helpful.
We would not hesitate to recommend Pinot Noir to any one.

We so enjoyed our stay with you. Your service was great and the view is outstanding. The cabin was very clean and spacious. We invited our son and daughter-in-law to join us because we were so impressed and they had a wonderful time as well. Thanks so much for your hospitality. We do hope to see you again.
Serenity and relaxation on the lake
I reserved the Riesling cottage for 5 ladies to celebrate my Moms 70th birthday. The cottage was clean and cozy and had everything we needed for the weekend. We especially liked the books on birds and St. Catharine's. We spent most of our time on the deck just looking out at the lake or wandering the property. It's a beautiful place to pour a glass of wine and go for a walk through the fields of peach trees and grapevines. We hope to come back again!
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 06/12/2012
Thank you Deb for your kind review. I think your mom felt very special and definately proud our her family. We would love to have you all back again soon. - Kathryn
The cottage is amazing. Everything you need is there and more. It is rustic, cozy, clean, peacefull and very pleasant. Kathryn and Joe are great hosts, very friendly and accomodating. The kitchen and bathroom are very well equipped. Kathryn serves goodies for breakfast every morning. I could live here no problem!
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 06/12/2012
Thank you for your review comments Kitty. We would love it if you lived here. Hope to see you again soon. - Kathryn
Our twp-day stay in the Lakehouse cottage was just the best. The cottage was spacious and well-appointed. Kathryn and Joe were excellent hosts who had thought of everything - down to the level of a first aid kit, scissors and scotch tape - just in case such things were needed. But the crowning glory was the very calming view of Lake Ontario. I could have sat there for weeks. We truly hated to leave. We highly recommend Nokara Farms for anyone in search of a relaxing water-side stay.
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 06/10/2012
Thank you very much for your kind review. Joe and I really are enjoying having guests visit us on our Lakeside farm property. Have a great summer and hope to see you again soon.
Beyond outstanding with a breath-taking view
The privacy of your own cottage is incredibly serene as you look out one window to view vineyards and yet, out another window overlooks the beauty of the lake with an unexpected view of the Toronto Skyline in the distance. The friendliness of Joe and Kathryn was like staying with family and the breakfast...better than any restaurant! And the cottage...absolutely exquisite!...home away from home!
Extremely comfortable, friendly and the most beautiful experienc
We loved the cottage and the view, the host and hostess was so gracious and accommodating, the continental breakfast was not only beatiful to look at but delicious(and delivered to your door to meet your needs). We had a great time gathered around the fire pit, cooking on the grill and plenty of room for the kids to roam without worring about safety. Everything from inside to outside is kept immaculate. It was extremely close to points of interest. It was one of the best getaways we have had. We can't wait to return and would recommend this awesome place to anyone.
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 06/10/2012
Thank you Shellie, We are looking forward to having you back again next spring. I have you on my calander already.
Have a nice summer.
Beautiful place to stay
If you are looking for a relaxing, scenic, gorgeous place to stay, this is it. The cottage overlooks the lake and there is a great firepit, not to mention great strawberries. Nice and quiet, like a home away from home! I will definately be back!!!
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 06/10/2012
Thank you for the review Abby. Strawberry season is my favourite too.
Our group rented three of the cottages for my sister's bachelorette party- Vineyard, Pinot Noir, and Riesling. All were spotlessly clean and quite charming. The view of Lake Ontario was spectacular. Hospitality was amazing and breakfast was delicious. The cottages offered a great way for all of us to be together. I can't say enough good things- it was perfect! I hope we are able to come back again soon!
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 05/16/2012
Thank you Carly for your kind words. You were a great group of girls. All the best for your sisters wedding next month. - Kathryn
Family of 3
Relaxation, comfort, natural beautiful and yummy food!
We highly recommend a stay at Nokara Farms. We visited in the summer of 2011 and returned this Spring. Joe and Kathryn are warm, friendly and inviting. They make your stay a personal and comfortable experience while still offering privacy. The lake views are gorgeous. The surrounding orchards and vineyards were beautiful in both spring and summer. Accommodations are clean and well equipped with everything you need. Each morning we received a bountiful tray of fresh baked goods and fruit. Kathryn always adds a special something for our son. :)
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 05/01/2012
Thank you for your kind review. It was a real pleasure to have your family come for a return visit. - Kathryn and Joe
Clean, quiet, close to everything
I stayed in this apartment as a writing retreat to myself for three days. Valerie is very friendly and accommodating. The unit was clean, spacious and close to everything. About a 10+ walk to the main strip. LCBO 2 minutes away. Towels and bedsheets were lovely. So was the air conditioning. I did have to buy some toothpaste although there was shampoo, soap, salt, pepper, coffee, tea provided. The only thing I didn't like was the lighting which was a bit harsh - if you care about that sort of thing. I'm not a fan of florescent lights and used some of the warmer lighting from the bedroom lamps in the main space. Other than that - it was great.
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 04/06/2012
Hello I am not sure where you stayed but it was not with us. Glad you had a good time wherever it was though. If you are ever in the Niagara Area we would love to accommodate you in one of our 5 Lakeside cottages. Our season is from May - October and we are not open in March when you posted your review. Our cottages are fully equipped with full kitchens and gas BBQ's on the decks. We also have fire pits in the yard by each cottage for evening campfires. We also have an on farm market and bakery for you to enjoy. Hope you find us too some day. Cheers - Kathryn from Nokara Farms in St. Catharines Ontario
We had the most relaxing, comfortable, and amazing cottage exper
We had a small reunion of friends at Nokara Farms, and this was the best location we could have picked! These cottages are right by the lake, and the view is just stunning! We had booked all four cottages, and all of them have very good privacy and everything you need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing.
Kathryn and Joe are the most welcoming host, and went the extra mile to ensure our families' comfort. They gave us a tour of their vineyard and fruit orchard, which all the kids loved. The breakfast was great, and always ready way before anyone woke up.
I absolutely adored the cottage. The weather did not cooperate, but it was a wonderful experience. The view is gorgeous and I have talked to my family about having reunions there. My daughter is a teen and I was worried when we found out ours was one of the cottages without internet. She did not complain once and had some friends over to have a bonfire, pick pumpkins in the patch and just enjoy the outdoors. How refreshing that was. All of the teens loved it! The breakfasts were wonderful and the decorating inside and out was fantastic. If you want a quiet, peaceful retreat, this is it! It was convenient to shopping and if there was any problem, Joe was there. Being from a warm climate, it took some getting used to, but it was well worth it and hopefully can make it a yearly event. I wouldn't consider staying in a hotel after this experience! My daughter feels the same! Great farm and cottages!
Gail & Henry (Toronto)
We've been staying at the Vineland cottage since it first opened (every May & Oct). Beautiful setting, lovely hardy continental breakfast, fabulous amenities, and friendly hosts. Every detail has been considered - even basic kitchen staples like olive oil and seasonings. Close to the wine route, nestled among grape vines and peach trees with a glorious view of the lake. Close enough to drive to tourist destinations but far enough away to be a haven. Charming farmstand (fruits/vegetables/baked goods) just down the driveway (but not within view of the cottage). Never mind going to the local restaurants - pick up some local produce, a bottle of Ontario wine, some baked goods and sit on the deck (BBQ & firepit included)! Selfishly, we'd like it to stay a hidden gem.

I am so glad that we stayed at Nokara Farms. This was the first time that we had been in the area. The location is beautiful and peaceful. The cottage had everything that we needed. Kathryn was the best host. The breakfasts that she brought were delicious. I will definitely be back.
Response from Kathryn Ferretti - 09/18/2011
Thank you for your kind review. I hope all is well with Jenny at Brock. I look forward to having you stay with us again soon. - Kathryn
Gorgeous location, adorable cottage, fantastic service
The Lakeside Cottages are fabulous. Staying in the Vineyard Cottage was perfect. Along with a living room/dining area/kitchen, there are two small bedrooms and a bath. The deck and yard are fabulous. Great spot for relaxing and close to Port Dalhousie and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Owners Kathryn and Joe could not have been nicer. Kathryn arrived in the morning with fresh baked breakfast. Coffee, tea, etc. was already in the kitchen.
The farm stand is also wonderful. Fresh fruits and veggies, pies, frozen yogurt, etc.
Our stay could not have been better.
Wonderful cottage experience
We had a fabulous stay at the Vineyard Cottage. It is perfect for families and my children had the time of their lives. The views of the lake are incredible - I could never get enough pictures of the lake, especially the sunset. Kathryn and Joe were wonderful. So warm and friendly!! We loved the breakfast tray in the morning and we bought delicious corn on the cob from the farm stand for dinner. They thought of everything in and around the cottage. We used the grill, made bonfires and smores. They even had sticks/forks for roasting marshmellows. Kathryn was sweet enough to help my children surprise us for our anniversary! The location is great if you are an active family. We went to Niagara Falls twice, Welland Canal, a winery, Niagara on the Lake, Port Dalhousie, biking and went swimming in the lake. There was so much more we wanted to do but ran out of time --- we really hope to return someday soon!
We stayed in the Reisling cottage which was well stocked with all the essentials , including seasonings and a grill to cook the 22 pound salmon we caught in the lake. Our hosts made our vacation one of the most memorable as they were not only warm and inviting, but they were full of information about the area. The fresh baked goods and fruit from the farm each mornig was a wonder treat. The kids especially loved the tour of the farm and the lesson in picking peaches from farmer Joe. We hope to retun soon to this gem.
Fab time was had by all!
What a great holiday we had. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel most welcome. I loved the pack we got on arrival with the lovely cakes and fresh fruit.
Every morning the breakfasts were great, it was something different all the time and really very tasty.
Kathryn and Joe were such lovely people and made you feel most welcome on their farm. They took the time to have a chat with you each day and they were great with my oldest son who likes to ask lots of questions.
The views of lake ontario from the decking are something not to be missed especially at night as the sun is going down. Such a tranquil and peaceful place to be!
We had such a wonderful time and will most certainly be back.

Comfortable lakeside hideaway near everyting
This was our second stay with Nokara Farms and we cannot say enough great things about this wonderful hide away in the Niagara region. Cottages are private and right on the lake. Kathryn and Joe treat you like good friends and the breakfast tray is full of delicious homemade treats. Perfect base to explore the wineries, cheese shops, restaurants and then return to your cottage for a quiet glass of wine on the edge of the lake.

Beautiful and peaceful cabin on the lake
Everything about our stay was wonderful. We so enjoyed relaxing on the deck of your beautiful cabin and waking each morning to a stunning lake view and yummy breakfast. We didn't want to leave. Thank you Kathryn and Joe. Hopefully we'll visit again some day.
Tranquility close to the Falls
Our visit to Nokara Farms was perefct from start to finish. The cottage was beautiful. Not only was it comfortably decorated with an incredible view, it was very, very clean. The kitchen area was well equiped with appliances but also the basic herbs and spices you would need to cook a lunch or dinner. Kathryn brought us a scrumptious homebaked continental breakfast each morning.
I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to visit the hustle and bustle of the Falls but would prefer to end the evening in a peaceful, quiet setting.
Kathryn is a wonderful hostess.

This place is so great. Simply a little paradise in Ontario. Great decoration inside and outside in a very peaceful environment. Everything is there for us to enjoy, wood fire in the evening and a beautiful breakfast plate in the morning. Kathryn and Joe are 2 wonderful hosts, just like friends, and they make us feel at home. We can't wait to go back. This is the place to stay!

Staying in the Riesling Cottage at Nokara Farms was simply splendid. Not only did our hosts Kathryn and Joe make the cottage feel like our home away from home, they made us feel like a part of their family. Kathryn's incredible baked goods and farm stand goodies (not to mention a few little surprises for our three-year old daughter) made our stay even more terrific. We traveled to the area for a family wedding, and we left with some wonderful friends at Nokara. We will certainly be back to visit!
Best time ever!
I can't say enough about this beautiful cottage and it's owners...the location, the decor, the comfort level, the hospitality...all 5+ stars! Couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate my 36th birthday with my girlfriends...have already booked again for next month! Thank you so much to Kathryn for making our stay really special :)
We stayed 3 nights with friends. What a beautiful location. Backs onto Lake Ontario. Had a view across the lake to the C.N. Tower in Toronto.Cottages are modern and beautifully decorated. The owners are great people.Fresh fruit and baked goods for breakfast. Five minutes to town.Great place to stay.We will be back again!!

A Joyful time at the Vineyard Cottage
We as a family enjoyed the rest and hospitality offered to us by Kathryn and Joe at Nokara Farms. Our days at the farm were blessed with warm sunshine and a cool breeze off the lake. If you like a clean environment, green grass, fresh air and quietness to relax and reflect then this is it. We especially would like to say the breakfasts at Nokara with Kathryn bringing you a tray of warmly baked banana bread or coconut scones and oat meal cookies, gave us a fabulous start to the day. When we were leaving we could only hope to return once more to feel the same surprise at ourselves and our time of renewal.
The Perfect Getaway
The cottage was everything one could hope for and more. The scenery was breathtaking. The cottage was furnished with everything we needed. Joe and Kathryn were more like friends than caretakers by the time we left. And breakfast - other than the fact I think I gained five pounds that week because of it - it was excellent!!! This vacation was probably the best we have ever had!
week end getaway
My husband, myself and another couple stayed in the Chardonay cottage owend by Joe and Kathryn Feretti. The cottage was beautifully decorated, the view of the Toronto skyline was amazing and our hosts were very warm and welcoming. We were greeted each morning with homemade baked goods. We would definately go back for another visit.
What a great place to stay
What a fantastic place to stay! My wife and I stayed at the Riesling Cottage. Amazing location and so relaxing. Beautifully over looking Lake Ontario. Joe & Kathryn of Nokara Farms were perfect hosts. Breakfast was incredible! Thanks for making our stay most enjoyable!
