St AustellWonderfully equipped and peaceful villa.
Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We've just come back from a fabulous week at this property which, as far as we were concerned, had everything we needed. The pool was great (and never too cold), the beds were uniformly comfortable and the T.V. and wifi worked (lovely to have English channels available on the T.V.). The position of the villa is tranquil without feeling isolated. A car would be essential, however.
The level of equipment is outstanding - the friendly owners have clearly thought of everything, including more than enough bath and pool towels.
The owners have renovated the property over many years and have done a remarkable job.
Whilst we are unlikely to return to the Dordogne in the foreseeable future (having been there three times in the past four years), we would recommend this villa to anyone, but especially to large family groups. -

Southend-on-Sea, EssexRustic Cottage review
Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in June 2011
I travelled to the cottage from the UK (by car) with my 89 yr old mother and 66 yr old brother. The cottage, 'grounds' and pool are really designed for 1 or 2 families, each with children, but we were attracted by the seclusion and we needed a downstairs, ensuite bedroom for my mother (which it has). The cottage is exceptionally well equipped - almost every household item that you may need is available somewhere (in a cupboard or draw). There seem to be enough plates and different types of glasses for a dinner party for 20 people (I estimate). There is even a well tuned piano in the downstairs ensuite. The cottage is secluded - the nearest other property is a small shop about 150m away, which sells wine from it's own vineyard and is open for 1 hour per day. The cottage is accessible from the 'main' road (not very major) via approx' 1 km of small roads and tracks. You will only get close to it on your sat' nav'. Surrounding countryside is exceptiional. The swimming pool is also quite large and is tucked away on it's own terrace. The cottage would be even better for a family (or two) with children.

londonComfort and tranquility with a beautiful garden and pool
Left on 06/12/2011 for a stay in August 2010
We thoroughly recommend this extremely well appointed house for it's comfort and tranquility .Excellent provision for a large family to relax and cook in comfort . There were also endless different indoor and outdoor spaces for all family members to find somewhere private to relax .
The swimming pool was a generous size and in a lovely secure setting in the garden . The extra bedroom away from the house is also a real benefit . All linen and kitchen utensils are of a good quality enabling full use of the house as a 'home away from home '. The owners were very helpful and reasonable.
we have given 4 stars for location only because we were slightly disappointed with the 2 local towns. The house itself is peaceful and secluded . -

Muiderberg, The NetherlandsWonderful family home in Saint Chamassy.
Left on 10/22/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We were looking for a hollidayhome in the Dordogne region for an extended
family including friends. Ages between 6 month and 65 years. We found
this house on an internet site and booked it for three weeks during
the summer of 2009. It turned out to be just perfect for our purpose.
The large family (bed)room was great for a small family. The upstairs
bedrooms were very tastfully decorated in warm colours. They were
equipped with fans as well as airconditioning. Very useful during
a hot Dordogne summer. The kitchen was fully equiped with everything
an ambitious amateur cook may wish for. It was the first time in many
years of renting in the Dordogne region to find this. The heated pool
was used every day by young and old. The pool was bordered by lovely
flowers adding to the pleasant atmosphere.
Gillian and Ross, the owners, left us in full privacy but were around
to help us with questions when needed. We were so enthousiastic about
the house and our holiday that we have booked it almost immediately for
next year.

AustraliaPerfect Dordogne Stay
Left on 08/16/2009 for a stay in April 2008
On hearing of our plans to visit the Dordogne with our adult daughter, an English friend recommended we stay at Les Bourgezies Hautes. We could not have been more pleased that we took up her recommendation!
Les Bourgezies Hautes is situated in an extremely peaceful location which had great appeal to us. Surrounding the house are lovely areas of garden, lawn and established woods, and there is a very attractive swimming pool. Close to the house, in the garden, is a table and chairs and we enjoyed our meals outside as often as possible.
The restored farmhouse with its beautiful stone roof is typical of the wonderful domestic architecture of the region. The house itself was comfortable and very well equipped for every occasion, from entertaining and relaxing, to keeping up with the washing! We loved sitting before the open fire on cool evenings.
With a combined interest in Architecture, Art and Medieval History, we had researched the area before we left Australia, however the owners recommended some wonderful places to see that only locals would be aware of. We found that the house provided us with an excellent base to explore the whole of the area. (Don?t miss the beautiful village of Limeuil, where the Dordogne and Vezere Rivers meet.)
The local markets in the villages and towns were great and we were also well serviced with large supermarkets at Le Bugue which is close by. (Le Bugue also has a very impressive bottle shop with local and imported wines.)
We feel that we have found a home away from home in the Dordogne and are planning another stay at Les Bourgezies Hautes very soon!

Oakham, UKGreat converted house in great location
Left on 08/09/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We spent 12 nights in Les Boorgezies Hautes in July and had a wonderful holiday. The house was planty big enough for the 5 of us with everything you could ask for, from Nespresso Coffee to Wireless Internet to Heated Swimming Pool and many Garden areas. It is very secluded and pieceful yet only a few minutes from a number of small villages and the little town of Le Bugue which has everything you really need. The Dordogne area is easily in reach with a 45 minutes drive reaching most places of interest. We spent many lazy days by the pool, in the garden enjoying the peace and privacy. Only downside was the wasps which seemed to appear more often as the stay went on and made eating outside a little unpleaseant.

UKA comfortable and peaceful family experience
Left on 07/17/2009 for a stay in July 2006
A warm welcome from the owners (Ross & Gill)to a well-prepared house.
Any necessary maintenance during our stay (eg care of the pool) was
carried out unobtrusively.
We loved the house. The huge ground floor
bedroom with en-suite was a quiet retreat for us (grandparents) while
our son, his wife and 2 daughters (one only 6 months old) occupied the
upstairs rooms and bathroom. The kitchen/diner is large and very well
equipped. The lounge area is very comfortable with very attractive stone
fireplace for colder months and table and chairs for dining. The
downstairs cloakroom is also great for families. The garden is huge,
shaded and well furnished (perfect for outdoor eating). The pool is a
very good size and extremely well maintained and has safety
fencing.
The location is peaceful and secluded but not too isolated.
Shopping and restaurants in Le Bugue are excellent and all the
attractions of the Dordogne and Vezere valleys are close by.
What's
