We enjoy seeing the visitors' reactions to this property, and enjoy showing it. We are located approximately 35 minutes from Lake Barkley, but all our lakes are private. We, in the past, have sought out and bought unique water feature properties, but we have never seen a property like this. It is truly one-of-a-kind!

We have 7 beautiful lakes, 5 ponds, sloughs and creeks, as well as wetlands, on 205 acres located in the heart of Western Kentucky''s "Big Buck Region", Hopkins County, near th...e small town on St. Charles. It is surrounded by a few thousand acres of land uninhabited except for occasional hunting by out-of-state owners, and offers large deer and turkey, which we capture on game cameras every year.

The 7 lakes range from approximately 400 feet long up to over one-third mile long, with 2 lakes approximately one-quarter mile long each. They vary in depth from 4-5 feet in spots to over 30 feet deep. Some have nice gently sloping bottoms, then drop off sharply. Most are crystal clear, some are less clear. They provide a wide variety of fishing habitat, including deep clear holes, shallow lily-pad covered or edged areas, and mixed areas. Fish in these lakes/ponds include largemouth bass, rock bass, crappie white and black, shellcrackers, Bluegill, mud catfish, and channel catfish. There are some very large fish in these lakes & ponds, up to (maybe more) 10 lb. largemouth, 1 lb. plus bluegill and 40 lb. channel catfish. Some of these lakes I had to explore and find, as they & the roads to them had disappeared in the brush. Some of these fishing holes had not been fished for at least 10-15 years. I had a dozer open up all the lakes & ponds, including a large T-shaped pond deep in the woods. All lakes & ponds now have ample shore fishing areas as well as access to put a boat in. Many times these clear lakes are like an aquarium you can see dozens of fish of different size and types swimming around at one time. Fishing is on a catch and release basis, although there will be no problem keeping some to cook on-site or take home from time to time.

-CABIN- The cabin is a NEW, well-built 600 sq. ft. open cabin, with front & rear decks, overlooking 2 lakes. It is NOT connected to internet, TV, or phone. The cabin is very nice, but we are looking to rent to people who want to enjoy the gorgeous property, and relax. The views of lakes, trees, bluffs, hills, etc are beautiful. this property offers, on-site, opportunities to fish, hunt, boat, swim, hike, camp, ride 4-wheelers, ride horses, pick blackberries or morel mushrooms, or just explore, not to mention relaxing on the deck reading one of the many books from the cabins well stocked library or looking down at Chucks Lake or Lake Amy.

Additional Location Information

We are less than one hour from huge lakes Barkley & Kentucky, and Land Between the Lakes. It is approximately 1 hour to Evansville, IN and 1 & half hours to Nashville, TN. You may not want to leave the property after getting groceries, there is so much to see & do. There is plenty of shopping available in Madisonville - 12 miles away, or smaller stores much closer.

  My husband and I were looking for a cabin in the woods or on a lake where we could relax, fish,hike and just get away from the hustle and bustle of life for a while. This location lived up to all of our expectations and more. This brand new, immaculate cabin is nestled between 2 lakes, and is surrounded by 206 acres of beautiful woods which holds 5 more lakes. Talk about waking up to beautiful nature every morning! We fished to our hearts content and the owners of the property have a boat waiting at every lake that they let us use, free of charge. The cabin is equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals,and after we bought our groceries we never left the property. The owners of the property were so kind and very helpful explaining where all of the lakes were located and how we could get to them. We really loved the fact that there were no other vacationers on the property,which really gave us the solitude we were seeking. We spent the mornings and evenings on the front covered porch,watching the birds and listening to the wildlife. Never have we enjoyed a vacation so immensely; we felt like we made some new friends in the owners, Chuck and Sue ann and we will definitely be going back. My husband is planning on coming back with his friends for his next hunting trip because the deer and turkey are plentiful. We recommend this cabin rental very highly!
