Left on 10/08/2012 for a stay in September 2012
The house had a wonderful view and the upstairs porch was very nice as was the pool. Comfortable bed and linens. Ac worked well. However, the cleanliness left alot to be desired. The walls were stained and marred. Broken and stained dining chairs, broken pool lounge chairs. The floors were dirty, the elevator stopped working after three days. The grill area was filthy and the rental company had to send a cleaning crew to pressure wash it. Torn screens in the downstairs grill area, jacuzzi top ripped, unuseable pots and pans. Dead and live roaches. Dirty blender. Soap scum and film on shower doors and mold in tile grout. The rental company did send a cleaner for the bathrooms and delivered new pots and pans. Beach access that was suppose to be 75 yards was more like 200 yards since the access path through the dunes was recently closed. Not a lot of information on the island available in the home. One game available and very limited reading material. Backs on remote controls for living room tv missing and also missing batteries so that tv was unusuable.

Four Families
Nashville, TNBest beach vacation ever!
Left on 08/05/2012 for a stay in July 2012
According to my 6 and 8 year old they said this was the best vacation ever and said it was better than Disney. :) We had four families and were apprehensive of whether or not there would be enough space but were pleasantly pleased of how much room we had. It was absolutely perfect because the kids had their own living space to hang out and play video games away from the main living area and kitchen. Speaking of the kitchen, it was the perfect setup with the island bar, large pantry and openness to the main living area. The pool was great and just the right size and this was definitely one of the features we considered when determining which property to choose. There were plenty of chairs and loungers and we liked that the pool deck was not shaded by trees. The elevator was definitely the best bonus feature in the house and came in handy when carrying luggage and groceries in and out. The service was wonderful when making the reservation and responding to questions we had along the way. We thoroughly enjoyed this vacation experience and definitely plan to return to St. George again!

We enjoyed our stay at Islamorado. The home has a wonderful floor plan and it easily accommadated our 2 families that shared the house for a week. We loved the location to the beach and the unobstructed view. Overall, the house has great potential but it really needs maintanence and repair. Walls desperately need painting, there was a hole in one wall, dining room chairs were dirty and some cushions were unattached from the chair frame, the living room sofa needs to be replaced. While it was in decent condition, there was a structural problem that caused the seat area of the sofa to tilt, making sitting on it uncomfortable and awkward, some kitchen items were piece mill and/or needed replacement, there was no kitchen garbage disposal, toilets stopped up frequently, only one towel per sleeping occupancy for the week was given, causing the need to do laundry shortly after arriving, only one kitchen towel given for the week, pool handrail was in poor condition, top rung of pool ladder was broken which could have caused injury if used, etc. We just felt the house should be maintained much better which would make people to want to return to Islamorado. At this point, I don't our families would.

Nashville TNAll we expected and more
Left on 10/21/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This was our 3rd stay on the island and was by far the best yet. Islamorada was everything we expected and fit our family perfectly. The only things lacking would be some kitchen items (ie. baking pans, grilling utensils, etc.) but we made it without these. The other thing that was lacking was the boardwalk accessibility. We actually found a path through the lot across the street that was closer than using the boardwalks at the end of the street. But these were minor things and it did not impose at all on the overall wonderful experience that we had at the house. We took full advantage of the beach view, the pool and the hot tub!

The Islamorada is a lovely home with lots of amenities (Tv's in bedrooms and family areas, elevator, pool, outdoor grilling kitchen, etc.).
We liked that it is at the end of a cul-de-sac. The decks on the 2nd and 3rd floors greatly expand the living areas. We requested and promptly received two maintenance calls. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Two suggestions: 1) 14 people (ages 10-70) for four days could use more than one bath towel per person even with a laundry room in the home, 2) the pots, pans and some kitchen utensils need to be better cleaned. There was greasy residue on some of the items. -

This is our second trip to this wonderful home. This is a great home with a perfect view. Feels like you are ocean front, with the added bonus of more privacy than beachfront. It has lots of perks, elevator, pool, hottub, great open living room for all to gather. The screened in underside with sink, grill and t.v. was a popular place for the fishermen in the group after fishing all day at the cut and preparing dinner. (Fresh fish and great local oysters!) Can't say enough about the memories we created with wonderful friends. Thanks for sharing your home and we will always look at Islamorada as our first pick for St. George Island.

Left on 12/05/2010 for a stay in November 2010
The Islamorada is a beautiful house with a great view of the ocean from the living areas. The kitchen had everything we needed for preparing our traditional thanksgiving meal. We had 4 generations of family together for the week and couldn't have asked for a more perfect vacation. St. George Island Vacation Properties were wonderful to work with and made sure our vacation was all we had hoped it to be. Can't thank Tony enough!

Louisville, KyPictures are very deceiving!
Left on 10/26/2009 for a stay in September 2009
The home itself was suitable with a great location but the upkeep and cleanliness was aweful. As soon as we checked in on Saturday, there were obvious problems that I brought to the office attention. There was literally a 1/2 inch of dust on the ceiling fans, bedframes, lamp shades and mold on ALL return vents. There were dead scorpians and roaches on floors and in drawers, dining table left with sticky red substance and crumbs all over counters. Outside utility sink plumbing not connected, outside grill area left a mess and overall filth and stains on all carpets. I feel I was dismissed by management and given several excuses as to why the proper persons were not informed of my complaints. I was told the the "head of housekeeping" would be out on Sunday to look at the property and it was a no show/no call. Monday I called and left messages to management with no return calls. Tuesday I personally went to the office yet again to make my complaints and finally by Wednesday I spoke with management who stated they would send out someone on Thursday to atleast clean the mold that was growing on the vents. I as an asthmatic and with infants and toddlers in the house refused to have this done only to have more toxins stirred into the air. These were all matters that should have been tended to prior to our arrival. I wasted way too much of my vacation time and energy on the matter and I am sickened to think that your management company thought that these conditions were acceptable. The biggest insult was to be told that the house hadn't been rented in three weeks therefore the reason for all of the dust. 1/2" dust does not accumulate in three weeks time! I was given my processing fee minus 10% from my bill and this seemed to appease management but not myself. I would hope that in the future you would take more pride in your business and listen and be pro-active with complaints to retain customers. I will not ever be renting from your company nor referring.

This was the fourth house that we have stayed at during our visits to the Plantaion on SGI and will be the first that we re-visit in the future. Our family of 7 had a wonderful time. The view from the upper deck was fantastic and everyone loved the private pool & hot tub. I enjoyed having a grill area with a gas grill, picnic table and tv that was undercover that we could enjoy even on the evenings that we had rain.
The only problems that we had was that the grill had not been cleaned in a long time and had only one burner that was working. The other was that there was only one tv remote that was working upon arrival. -

Islamorad was a wonderful house to stay in plenty of room for everyone, we had 8 adults there for a week. The cons where some of the outside doors didn't open, and we could never get the stero system to work outside either.Would have been nice to have music poolside. the Pros the enclosed bar-b-que area was great, kept the bugs away and was nice when the guys where eating oysters and if it had a little refrig that would have been wonderful. The elevator came in handy because one of guests couldn't use the stairs. The beaches are great and in Sept. no one is on them so its like having your own private area. We love the area its our 3rd time back. And will probably be back again next year. So till then, thanks for the great vacation and view of the ocean.

We love St. George Island. I feel the pictures of this property were not accurate to its current state. I feel the outside of the house was in definite need of repairs.
We did like the different floors. Our older children had a private floor of their own. While when family time was needed, we all met upstairs.
The elevator was a great help. We were able to have our 90 year old grandmother join us with no stresses or strains from climbing stairs. -

It was a beautiful house in a desireable location, just steps from the Gulf. But past first glance you realize the house is being let go. Places on the wall that had been damaged and repaired but not matching surrounding area. Rusty faucets in both king masters, a missing shower handle(replaced with an outdoor spigot T handle), toilet paper roller missing in one master bath (TP sat on floor), and most of all doors leaking so much during a storm that we ran out of towels, not just under the door but all around the door frames. Most of the deck doors would not budge either, so you couldn't go out and enjoy your view from the bedrooms. Nearly all the cookware was worn out, way past the throwing out stage and I am cheap, about half of the towels were starting to become threadbare, no working batteries in over half of the remotes, burnt out lights outside by pool and grill and in hot tub, and upon arrival grill was nasty. It took my husband more than two hours to clean. It was the most beautifully decorated house in the best location we have ever stayed in on St George Island (this was our fourth time) and the most expensive but it was also the in the worst condition of any house we stayed in. We would not stay in again for that price with all the things wrong.

Our trip was a very good trip with our children and
grandchildren, a total of 12 people. The house was
a good size for our family. We enjoyed the
island, the large house and all the amenities it had
to offer...very peaceful, no tourism. We will
return to the island, but I really do not want to
stay at the Plantation property again. The write up
about the house online told that the beach was
across the street with a walkover..this lead me to
believe that walk from our drive right across the
road...where we had to walk about a block and a
half..this may not be a problem with some, but,
when you have small children it can be. We had no
grill that operated when we first arrived, but
after a couple of phone calls and a trip to the
main office we were delivered a grill (with a
family of 12 we enjoy getting the fresh seafood
while at the beach and grilling). I knew that 4 of
the bedrooms would be sharing a bath, but it was a
little awkward for the main floor, where the bath
room was in the Master Bedroom and not an entrance
to the bath from the other bedroom. There could be
some update done on the house, the den furniture
was in need of replacement very bad shape, there
were 2 dining room chairs that were broken, the
stereo system did not work at all, also needed
supplies in the kitchen such as cooking utensils
and new pots and pans. You really expect when you
pay over $4000.00 for a trip at the beach that the
house you rent would be in tip top shape. I can not
say I was completely happy and satisfied with our
stay.
