It sleeps six in three carpeted bedrooms: two masters, including one on the top level with private sundeck, and a twin room with two beds. beautiful beach.

Left on 04/22/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Nice house, very clean but stingy with linens. Great wrap around deck but only one chair and no sitting on upper deck. We had to carry chairs in and out of the house to enjoy the deck.

An exercise in frustration and disappointment!

Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2012

After 17 trips to our beloved St George Island our most recent stay was unforgivably bad.
We have stayed at Sunbird before but the property is now in such a state of disrepair that we could not wait to leave. Major issues included a hot water heater that only allowed one 5-minute hot shower before the water turned icy cold. The bottom element was so corroded that an easy repair was not possible. We opted to struggle with marginal showering rather than live through invasive handymen parading through our home replacing the unit. Then the elevator broke down and the handyman sent to address this issue could not fix the problem. This had us carrying our 13 year old dog up and down multiple flights of stairs every time she needed to go outside. This was not an easy feat as she weighs 56lbs!. We also endured sporadic heating making 2 of the 3 bedrooms so cold that our guests slept in sweaters, socks and winter hats.
When combined with a dripping faucet, broken blinds that made daytime TV viewing impossible, collapsing fridge shelves and outdoor furniture on the many decks reduced to 2 plastic chairs, we felt we were in bootcamp rather than on a seaside vacation.
Sure the rental company refunded us some money as compensation, but no amount of cash can give us back our once a year Christmas vacation. This rental is obviously badly maintained and I'm not really interested if this is the fault of the rental company or the home owner. The bottom line is that you too will risk your family vacation if you stay at this property. Unless of course you don't care about having hot water, heating and air, the convenience of an elevator or the constant rude surprise of something else breaking down on you. Also it might not matter to you that you spend about 50% of your vacation waiting for repairmen to arrive and then fail to fix the issue.
In sum, a ruined vacation in paradise because of shoddy business practices. Never again!!

The Sunbird was beautiful and very comfortable.

What a great place!!! The view was wonderful, and very relaxing. The kitchen was fully loaded with pots, pans, and dishes. The only thing that was missing was potholders. Nothing better than being on the beach in a beautiful house!!!

      Our secret place

Left on 10/03/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We have stayed numerous times at the Sunbird. Although it has not been updated it is prefect for accommodating two families for a great week at the beach. Your own private beach. An elevator to haul your items to the kitchen. It does have a washer and dryer. We will be back!

Lovely Beach, Not So Lovely Beach House or Customer Service

Left on 08/17/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We fell in love with the beauty, charm and simplicity of St. George Island and were pleased we chose to vacation there instead of the many other beach places in Florida.

However, while we will happily return to the area, we would never again stay at Sunbird. We wondered why Sunbird was not booked like the others. The house is in desperate need of updating: the wood decking and most of the walkway to the beach is dried out and so rough you have to wear shoes or you'll get splinters or cut feet; the plastic patio furniture consists of four small chairs and one lounge; two chairs and the lounge are broken and unusable; the living room and den couches/chairs are worn/torn and full of dog hair; the carpeting is worn and very badly stained; the kitchen counter tops are stained; there is black mold in the whirlpool tub and in the caulking of the other tubs; the top of the glass dining table was clean, however the under side of the glass was unappetizingly smeary and dirty. Beware removing hot dishes from the oven as there is only one pot holder in the kitchen. All in all, the house is either shabby or worn throughout.

We were also dismayed at the lack of necessities provided by Sgivp, especially since we were not told that we would have to provide items such as kitchen garbage bags, paper towels, toilet paper, and dishwasher detergent or that we'd be provided with only one kitchen towel to use for the entire time we stayed. For the price we paid, providing at least two kitchen towels and enough garbage bags to last for the stay would be a minimal expense to Sgivp, with a high return of customer satisfaction.

All in all, the description that comes to mind to define both the house and the service is high-priced cheaply done accommodations.

      Not long enough...

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Beautiful home, great location, wonderful bike trails...We didn't get to stay long enough. St. George Island Properties were great to work with and very helpful providing information about the area.

      We had a wonderful time!

Great vacation in a perfect house!

Left on 08/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This was the easiest rental we've ever experienced, from picking up the keys in the outside box to dropping them off when we departed. The house was exactly what we needed for the 8 of us who stayed there, and it was relatively secluded - even for the July 4th week. No neighboring house on one side and no one in the house on the other side allowed us lots of privacy. We really liked the location in The Plantation, which decreased the amount of people on the beach. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and pots/pans, as well as with a minimal amount of all soap needed for all appliances and the showers. The number and location of all of the bedrooms were perfect for us. The outside shower was great as was the elevator, which was usable but something we didn't need. The beach in front of the house was excellent. It included a long tidal pool that was perfect for our 2-yr-old to play in. We had a great week and would definitely rent this house again or recommend it to everyone.

The tidal pool just past the boardwalk in front of the house. Vacant lot on one side of house; private residence on other side Nice big deck around most of the house. This is facing the beach.

Great family fun on the beach

Left on 07/25/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Family from New York and Florida shared Sunbird for a week in early July. I'd been to St. George many times while living in Tallahassee earlier, but for most it was the first visit. The warm, clear water and lack of atlantic Ocean rough surf was a big hit with those who usually venture only to the edge of the water. The daily dolphin show was also popular. The check in and out were easy and quick; access to the Plantation area also easy.
The house was nicely furnished and supplied. The three full baths made life simpler than at home! The only drawback was the lack of a washer and dryer.

Come to Paradise at St. George Island

Left on 06/21/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The home was really perfect for us. We really liked that the second living area could also be used as a 4th bedroom since it had the fold out couch and french doors. We loved the wrap-around porch for drinking that first cup of coffee each morning and watching dolphins. We had just the right amount of privacy on the beach with only a few other people close by. The St. George rental company was fast and accommodating when you requested extra towels too. My only complaint was that we discovered a fairly large amount of cat hair under the beds. I guess that is to be expected, though, when it says "pet friendly". Would have liked a little better job of vacuuming carpet.
