This was our family's first time to St George Island. We really enjoyed it except we had more rain than desired so we didn't get to explore the island like we wanted. 5 Palms is a nice house. The walk to the beach was not bad. The private pool and the deck were the best part. The only real complaint is if you have small children who nap, all the bedrooms (except the master) are on the lower level under the main living space. When you are down there, it sounds like a herd of elephants is above you and that's just with normal walking. Also, the coffee maker needs to be replaced. My father in law got a nice burn one day because the lid doesn't fit the carafe and the entire thing came off while brewing all over his hand and the counter. The elevator was a great thing to have. The older kids loved the bunk room. The island is very laid back, great for relaxing. There is great fresh seafood and we highly recommend Eddy Teach's. Outside dining , live music, amazing food especially the oysters. Overall, it was a great week.

Proximity to the gulf and bay was an excellent draw for renting this house. The upper porch provides a wonderful view of the gulf. Just get inside before the sun sets. Bedrooms were adequate. Master suite had a lot of space.
This rental need a little more TLC. Microwave hanged loosely from the wall bracket upon our arrival. Most if not all of the faucets dripped. Not a sharp knife in the place. Cookware was adequate but not clean. Washed pots and pans before use. Figure out the elevator. Six days of walking three flights of risky stairs gets old. The a/C worked well. Good water pressure. Limited grocery storage area for a 7 day stay with 8 people.
Maybe a second frig would help.

I reviewed this once already. There were three levels...there was an elevator...but, I don't love elevators so I took two flights of stairs every trip down to the pool or the beach or shopping. The living area was on the 3rd floor. Bedrooms on 2nd level. It's a beautiful home. I don't regret spending the $$$ to rent the place. We needed large family accommodations and this fit perfectly for that. I wouldn't rent again because of the floor plan. The coffeemaker was 'defunct'. The wrong carafe was on the maker and the water wouldn't release without 'redneck engineering' to cause it to release. We had to prop some article between top of carafe and bottom of release switch to have coffee. I gave it a 3 star because it served the purpose. I would look further next time (2 years), though, before sending a deposit. Not a complaint against the rental agent...St. George Island Vacation Properties...just against the home itself. Beautiful island. Has become our "beach" for myself and our family.

The house was nice - the balconies amazing, a 2 minute walk to the beach and the bay, and a pool right there when you got back from the beach. The elevator was great to avoid lugging everything up to the top floor.

Very nice house, top floor great master bedroom and bath - and guest bath. Very comfortable living room and kitchen and terrific porch with plenty of comfortable tables and good "reading" chairs. Decently equipped kitchen. Second floor with 3 nice bedrooms each with bath. Also a great deck. Elevator a nice treat. Pool is very nice - more for playing than swimming tho. Close to beach and good beach views from decks. Received no service (came late so picked up keys etc from box) but never needed any.
