Perfect retreat for two families! Beachfront home with two bedrooms/three baths plus the living/kitchen/dining area upstairs. An additional two bedrooms, one bath and a den are located downstairs, (the lower level has a window AC unit). Multiple TVs/DVDs, include five flat screen TVs, a large beach sundeck and boat parking area. Covered porch & pool bathhouse. Just a few steps through the sandy path and you're on the beach. The pros: The private pool, the proximity to the beach, the privacy offered by renting a individual home vs a condo, the size of the upstairs, rapid response by rental office when a problem occurred, being able to bring pets, views of the ocean were fabulous (especially from upstairs).
The cons: The deck, the railing around the deck, the gate of the deck, the lack of closet in the large bedroom downstairs, the plastic deck furniture, sewage smell in downstairs
The deck is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The boards were so weathered and splintered, it was dangerous to walk on it barefooted. Even with soft shoes on, it was dangerous to walk on because of so many rusty nails that have worked their way out of the boards and stick up out of the boards about 1/2-1 inch. The railing was also a problem. There was at least one rung on the railing that was not attached at the top. A small child could push on it and fall through to the ground below (a one story drop). The railing gate to the back of the house was broken and held together with blue painter's tape. Our dogs were able to push against it and escape from the porch. A small child could do the same thing. Many of the plastic deck chairs were broken and needed to be replaced. The downstairs had a "musty" smell but it became a sewage smell after a heavy rain and we used the dishwasher and washing machine on the same day. No closet in the larger downstairs bedroom.

Please know that our guests’ satisfaction & safety is of the utmost importance to us and we apologize that At Wave’s Edge did not fully meet your expectations on this trip. Your willingness to provide us feedback has resulted in the homeowner taking immediate action to correct the deficiencies you found. The deck was inspected upon your departure and although weathered, corrective action was taken to ensure it is definitely in safe working condition. The broken deck chairs have been replaced. We apologize that you experienced an unpleasant odor in the ground level living space. We have found that when there is a heavy rain, a musty smell can arise. The septic system was also immediately assessed after your visit & the tank was pumped out as a precautionary measure. It was explained to us that the sewage smell may have been septic gasses escaping due to the unusually heavy rain. Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments with us. We hope to have you back as our guests again soon.

We really enjoyed our stay at SGI this year brought extra family and had a house on the bay & beach, the best of both worlds. Although the first 3 days were cold, we made the best of it. Hope to do it again next year. <3

It was in a wonderful location and the rooms were very comfortable. I didn't care for the mirrored walls but they were a small distraction. The owners graciously let us bring 3 dogs, which was a godsend. The kitchen might need more equipment to cook with.

We had a wonderful stay at at Wave's Edge with our family.The house was in a great location, well equipped, and large enough for our family of 12. We were also able to have our dogs. It was furnished comfortably and we appreciated the gated stairs off the deck. Our 2 two year old grandsons and the dogs could have free reign. The pool was an added bonus and the parents and grands used it extensively. We old folks prefer to sit at the waves' edge and enjoy the beach, which is so very close. Restaurants in the area are plentiful and the food rates from good to excellent. We also did some cooking and were able to buy fresh seafood on the island. Resort Vacation Properties made our check-in/out simple and responded immediately when we had a problem with the air conditioning. There is no place like St. George Island and apalachicola.

We have been staying at St. George Island for many years, usually one week every May, until 2010 when we decided to also go for Christmas week. While that week was a record-breaking week for cold weather in the Gulf, it still was a wonderful trip - certainly less people around, but those who were staying there had also decorated their houses for Christmas and seeing the lights from the beach was gorgeous.
We've stayed in many different houses on SGI, but when we discovered at Wave's Edge a few years ago, we knew it would always be our "home away from home". The arrangement of bedrooms and baths is ideal for 8 people, with plenty of space for t.v. lounging at night, eating meals, and sunning on the wrap-around porch upstairs.
Downstairs there are more chairs, tables, big swing, grill, shower, and a gorgeous pool that makes this house the perfect vacation place. Being pet-friendly was our first priority and at Wave's Edge, our Golden Retrievers are able to enjoy a fun-filled week alongside us.
It's the perfect vacation house for family and pets. The furnishings are nice and the house is well-maintained. The tv's in the living room and all the bedrooms are new and they all work! Whenever we've needed to call maintenance for something (rarely), it is taken care of immediately.
We love this place, and so do our two grown daughters and their families. It's become a tradition in our family. -

At Wave's Edge is a perfect location on the beach and a beautiful house for an extended family. We were able to walk to the playground and lighthouse although we spent most of our time on the beach. We look forward to staying there again!

I rented this home for use by 3 couples, a dog, and a two-year old. All of us were a bit skeptical at first due to the pictures, but were all pleasantly surprised and more than happy with the accommodations. The house was very clean and it turned out that having ceramic floors in this house is a requirement due to the closeness in proximity to the beach, which is what I think made us wary of the house. More throw rugs would probably fix this issue. The people from Resort Vacation Properties were pleasant and responsive to any concerns or needs that we called them with. We were even able to get in the house a few hours earlier than our scheduled check in time! What we loved about the house was being right on the beach and having a private pool. The beach at St. George Island is one of the nicest I've been to and all of us had a great time swimming in the ocean and having our own private pool! There is not much to do on the island and there are very few shops and restaurants, which is why we cooked our own meals every evening. This is the perfect place to go to get away from it and all and relax. I loved reading my book and sipping on a cocktail while sitting in a beach chair with my feet in the ocean! The sand was white, the water was clear, and the waves were even better than I had hoped for. Although guests can make do with what the house comes stocked with, the following recommendations would make the house absolutely perfect and would secure my rental in the future: equip kitchen with better quality and selection of pots, pans, large bowls, and utensils; buy a better broom to keep in the kitchen to sweep up the sand that inevitably gets in the house; add entrance rugs for wiping feet upon entering the house from the back deck; purchase air conditioning units for both bedrooms in the lower level; make sure the ice maker is working properly; purchase a better, larger, outdoor grill; and finally purchase more durable outdoor furniture for the upper decks.

We've stayed in several Resort Vacation rentals, and all were great, but At Wave's Edge was the best yet. Very spacious, great view, on the beach, quiet neighborhood, everything worked! Access to the beach from first and second levels was a good feature, and the fact that we could bring our Golden Retrievers made it perfect. The sundeck on the top level and covered porch below was ideal for the 8 of us. The house was in excellent condition maintenance-wise, decorated nicely, and very clean. We can't wait to get back!

This was the first time as a family we rented a house that was actually on the beach. We could literally walk off the porch onto the sand and be on the beach in a few steps! That was the lure for me and we enjoyed our stay. We came with friends and we had a great time. The kitchen was a little small for us since our kids are all teenagers and older, but we made do. A little more space would have been nice but it was a trade-off for being right on the beach! The porch was great and we had hammocks to hang underneath. Our family likes simple so the house was good for us. I know others may like a little fancier place, but we were quite happy!
We set up volleyball standards and played volleyball in the sand right off the porch. When we go to the beach we like to be on the beach...so this was great for us.
