Left on 07/02/2013 for a stay in May 2013 | St. George Island Lovers
We had our annual St. George Island vacation at the end of May, 2013, and once again we sooo enjoyed the island, the beach, Eddy Teach's!, Appalachicola, buying and cooking the most amazing shrimp ever!, etc.!!! The weather was perfect, and the island always gives so much to us.
Unfortunately, Beach Boy was a great disappointment. When we vacationed last year in Beach Boy, we noted several things that needed attention or replacement. We sent our review to Resort Vacation Properties, detailing all of these items. As our vacation approached this year, I began reading reviews from customers who had stayed at Beach Boy either during the winter of 2012-13, or the spring of 2013. Most of these vacationers left reviews detailing the same things about the house that they felt were subpar. I contacted RVP, asking about these areas that had apparently escaped repair. I provided a list of things, and they reported back to me that things had either been repaired, removed or replaced. Yes, the awful red shag rug was thrown out, yes rollers on the dishwasher we replaced. But so many things are ridiculously run down: one refrigerator has a sign on it that says, "ice maker does not work" (so how about fixing it then!), however, really, the refrigerator needs to be replaced. The interior of that refrigerator is awful - shelves barely holding up the food and the interior is covered in rust. The dishwasher is barely functioning - the bottom rack wants to come out and fall out when pulled out. The stove is dilapidated - the drawer holding the pans at the bottom falls off the hinges every time it's pulled out. The sliding doors in every room could cause shoulder injury when trying to open or close them - and yes, most of the locks do not work. We noticed while there that several of the beachside units have had all of their decking material replaced, or were in the process of replacing it. (Remainder of review follows on another post.) Thank you for taking your valuable time to provide feedback about Beach Boy. We are sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations and we apologize that your stay was not everything you hoped it would be. The good news is that based on your comments, the homeowner will be down this fall to conduct a full assessment and address many items that need to be repaired or updated. Just one note - the refrigerator noted in your review is an extra provided just as a convenience for things like canned sodas, etc. The main refrigerator in the kitchen was inspected and no deficiencies were reported. Nonetheless, as mentioned above, a thorough inspection will take place soon. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback and we appreciate both your acknowledgement that items that were previously reported were addressed and for your loyal patronage.

Fabulous family vacation at Stgi!

We rented both Beach Boy and Heaven Sent for an extended family trip to celebrate our parent's 60th wedding anniversary! There were 22 of us and we had more than enough room. Heaven Sent had an elevator for some family members with mobility challenges it was very helpful! Booking both houses which are right next door to each other, allowed us to all enjoy each other's company, the pool was right across the street and of course both homes are right on the beach. The views are breathtaking. Both houses are well equipped and very nice, we would stay again in a heartbeat!

Such gorgeous views, very quiet during the shoulder season. This house works well for people staying together but wanting private rooms. The keyless entry was great too. Huge kitchen, dining, and gathering area made cooking at home a real pleasure.
Only two issues we found: 1. locks on sliding glass doors in the back do not work well, making it difficult to lock; 2. could use more hot water to support that size home.
We were there for a group retreat and everyone was very pleased with the home and amenities. We would definitely stay there again.
We've been to St. George several times over the past 15 years and it remains our family's and our friends' favorite beach. The beaches are beautiful and uncrowded. I love that there are no outlet malls, water parks, putt putt parks, etc. Its where you go to enjoy the beach, which is why you came in the first place! We particularly love Sunset Beach, even though we have stayed at other locations on the island.

We loved Beach Boy! Large, multi-level so lots of quiet space, huge kitchen (allows for lots of cooks) with 2 refrigerators, very quiet end of the beach. Pool right across the street. Perfect - we'd rent again in a NY minute! Read more

Plenty of room for everyone. Well maintained and decorated. Excellant service from the management.

We rented the Beachboy for our daughter's wedding. It was a perfect location as the ceremony was down a wooden walkway to the beach and the reception was across the street at the neighborhood clubhouse. The six bedrooms provided plenty of space for family and the dormroom was perfect for the college girl friends. Large kitchen with two refrigerators was perfect, as was the large diningroom table. The price was very reasonable. Being pet friendly was a plus, as the bride insisted on bringing her dog. We loved the house and would definitely rented it again. Lack of elevator might be a drawback for some folks, but I considered climbing all the steps as a great workout. House was very clean and decor carefree.
We received a lovely gift basket from the owner!!

Beach Boy was the first house in Sunset beach we stayed at. IT was a fabulous house; loved the additional sitting room upstairs which had the pull-out couch. The only downside was being so close to the condos; the beach was a little more crowded due to overflow.

The house was fabulous. For multiple families, it is perfectly laid out. The bedroom with bunk beds for the kids is perfect. Every other bedroom had its own bathroom and king size bed. It is in a perfect location for both pool and beach. The only downfall is the kitchen appliances. They are outdated and worn out, and need to be replaced. New deck furniture would also be nice.

This house was a great retreat for my family and our friends. We had a total of 5 families staying at St. George Island the first week in August and 4 of those 5 stayed at the Beach Boy. This was the first time our families were able to get away together and really enjoy ourselves without any obligations. The house was a perfect match for all of us. The best part was the view every morning of the ocean. Also, being allowed to bring pets was a plus for us dog loving families.

We have been coming to St. George Island for 10 yrs. We come at the same time every year because it is our children's fall break. We love it here and have stayed in several houses up and down the beach. The last 4-5 yrs we have stayed in the same location. We like the area and the houses we have rented. Beach boy was a nice house and the different levels works best for our family. The bedrooms were big which gave us plenty of room to move around. Each bedroon had their own bathroom and most rooms had access to the beach from our bedroom. The main floor is what our family loves best it is a hugh room that the back was all glass and had a great view of the beach. It was a place for all of us to eat together and have fun together. We love the beach and the rest and relaxation. I did have one concern after booking this house my sister-in-law realized that the house was a pet friendly house. We had issues before with a house that let pets stay there and had to move due to fleas. This house was very clean and would never known that pets were allowed there. We loved the house and the convience of the pool. This gives the kids a choice of the beach and the pool. My Dad got spoiled from the other houses that we stayed in you could walk right from the house to the beach from the deck. You could with this house to but you had to use the community boardwalk from the other house. That was a minor thing but the picture was a little misleading I think because it made it look like you walked straight to the beach. We would stay here again in a heart beat. Susan

Check in was easy and check out was even easier. The house is located in a very nice gated community as described. Red brick driveways, spanish inspired beach houses, and lots of beautiful white sand. The house is directly on the beach and directly in front of the heated swimming pool. The house was clean, the beds comfy, and the kitchen well equipped. The only issue I can even think of is that the tv's and electronics could use a little updating. Not much of an issue for my family. We loved the beach and the wonderful pier fishing. We didn't go to St. George to watch tv.
The hot tub was fabulous. The best I have ever been in. It is not on the deck as advertised. It has been moved under the deck. It appears there was a small one on the deck but it had been removed. We had a wonderful time and Resort Vacation Properties was great to do business with.

Our family of nine spent one week during May 08. We felt that the tile steps (3 floors of them) were steep & too short - certainly a hazard. The main tiled floor was dirty and had to call cleaning staff. Also, the rug in the den needed replacing. Second refrigerator needs replacing. This is our third rental experience in St. George Island and the family as a whole would give this feedback for constructive comments. Thank you.
