We loved our week at La Gaviota! It was wonderful being on the beach. The house was very roomy and we had plenty of space for the 4 families that we had for our week. There were a couple things that needed to be upgraded. The kitchen has no garbage disposal and we seem to have a mouse at night that would eat fruit or bread that was left on the counter. This house could really use another full size fridge and a free standing ice maker. We had a great week and have already booked this house again for next year.

We love St. George Island. In fact, we have already rented for next year!! The area restaurants on the Island, Apalachiacola, and Port St. Joe are all great places to enjoy a meal. The shops are unique...a place to start your Christmas Shopping, which I do every year.
Can't wait to go back!! -

The home is very nice and large enough to accommodate the 12 members of my family who went. The appliances in the kitchen definitely need to be replaced and upgraded. The location is great and we loved the quiet beach. St. George Island is an "out-of-the-way" place, which appeals to us. This year we might look into a different house - perhaps not directly on the beach as this one is quite expensive.

We were very disappointed with the house. Two years ago we stayed at Eye Catcher - and it was a far superior property.
Some of our complaints with La Gaviota were the following:
1. No disposal
2. Ice maker in refrigerator did not work
3. Roof over deck had major leak problems. You could not set on the deck when it was raining because of the roof leak.
4. Ants were a consistent problem in the kitchen

Thank you for taking the time to share your vacation feedback with us. We are sorry that La Gaviota didn’t meet your expectations and that you experienced some inconveniences during your stay. We are pleased to report that the icemaker was serviced and is in proper working condition & the roof over the deck has been repaired as well. We will pass on your comments about the disposal to the owners for their review. We’re sorry that ants chose to visit this home during your stay. There are many reasons that there are random outbreaks and unfortunately, one of the main causes is the amount of effort that the previous guest makes to tidy the home, (the kitchen in particular). Although our housekeeping department has very strict standards, sometimes the infestation begins prior to their efforts and the pests don't appear for several days. Again, we apologize for all that you experienced and hope that you will give us the chance to serve your vacation needs in the future.

House was very suitable to our family of 3 generations.
Loved the large showers.
We did miss that there were no screens on sliding doors facing ocean.
Cooktop appliance was a bit too different. Outdoor grill was not clean--food left from previous renter. -

Our group of 4 stayed here and really enjoyed the close proximity to
the ocean, large spacious rooms and kitchen/living areas and, of
course, their policy to accept our dogs. The pool was quite nice and
it was great having an elevator! There were some items in the
house that need to be repaired or replaced: one of the living area
blinds was broken and couldn't be opened; there were a few items
in the kitchen that didn't work -- both blenders were inoperable,
the ice maker in the fridge didn't work well and the toaster wasn't
the best either. The patio furniture off the living room was nice,
but occasionally got wet from the spa on the floor above. The
furniture downstairs had a TON of sand all over it (as well as the
floor and side tables)...but this is more of a cleaning issue than an
issue about the house. A final thing I think the owners should
update is the outdoor grill -- it was quite old/run down compared
to others we've used while renting on the Plantation. Some of these
items may have been replaced/repaired since we stayed here in
September 2008 and if so, we'd certainly rent this home again!
