We loved the house and thought the overall condition and amenities were very good. Initially we had a problem with the kitchen faucet and the drain in one of the bathrooms. The management was quick to respond and the problems were taken care of very soon after we reported them. We loved the house! Although it was a little walk to the beach area, it was not too far due to the pathway from the back of the house. There were some concerns about the cleanliness of the kitchen supplies, due to finding silverware and cookware that were not well cleaned. The dishwasher had numerous rusted areas which may be the explanation for the dirty kitchen items.

St. George Island is a beautiful island. But, we just picked the wrong house to stay at. The berber carpets were very dirty and they were slippery coming down the stairs in both levels. The kitchen indoor-outdoor carpet was very dirty. The top outside deck was coming apart, (with nails coming out and boards moving), the outside wrought iron furniture was very rusty, and the swing on the bottom deck was broken and inoperable. I'm not trying to be critical at all, but the house plan was terrible and we did not notice it when we rented the place. The house is a tri level design, which is usually great! But I have never seen a master bath that you have to go down a level to use. I was not comfortable with this design because at night if you needed to use the bathroom and you were not awake enough, it could put you in actual danger of slipping or falling. That was the biggest let down to the whole house. The rental staff was great, check in and check out was easy. I just would never rent this unit again, but I would look into other units and, I'm sure, would be much happier with one of them. Sorry my review is so negative but we were not happy with that unit at all. The insurance we received with the rental was much needed, as we had been snowed in a week up north delaying our arrival. It was paid back to us without a problem and we were very happy to have had it! Read more
Response from Resort Vacation Properties of St. George Island - 07/02/2010
Thank you for taking the time to provide your vacation rental feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your visit to St. George Island but are discouraged that Our Thyme didn’t meet your needs. We apologize for any discomfort or inconvenience this may have caused. We only wish you would’ve reported these items during your stay so we may have had the opportunity to correct them at that time. While there’s nothing we could do about the home’s layout, we certainly would’ve sent someone out to clean the carpets and repair the decking. We are pleased to inform you that the carpets have been cleaned & some decking repairs have taken place since your visit and no further issues have been reported. With regards to the swing, it was repaired & re-hung and guests are enjoying it as we speak. The wrought iron deck furniture is being removed & the owner is presently looking into replacement options. We are pleased that you were able to recoup funds from our travel insurance provider. While we hope none of our guests actually have to file a claim, it is wonderful to hear a success story when someone has to make use of it. Again, we apologize for any inconveniences experienced during your stay. Should you choose to visit St. George Island in the future, we hope you will allow us to find the perfect home for you.

My husband, family and I had never been to SGI, prior to 2007, so we were blown away with your Island's beauty and all can't wait to come back for another visit! Our Thyme was a nice place to stay - when we come back to SGI, we'll most likely stay at a larger home - only because our family has grown since 2007 & we'll most likely bring more family/friends with us. Y'all at Resort Vacation Properties were FABULOUS, and Teresa Bartlett - our Internet Response Coordinator - went above and beyond with her customer service. I think our decision to return to SGI has some basis as a result of Teresa's help with all our plans. We loved our time on your island and over in Apalachicola and can't wait to come back! Read more

Everyone would like to stay on the beach but we found that Our Thyme being a pleasant walking distance to the beach provided a buffer and experiences that we wouldn't have staying right on the beach. The smells of the pines as you walk through the needles, the scampering wildlife the wonderful puffs of moss along the path, and the anticipation as you walk up the boardwalk before it crests on the beach stairs. Privacy both within the plantation and in the tri-level home is great. Our family always enjoys the time in the living room or deck where we watch a movie, listen to music or play games. The addition of the outdoor shower a couple of years ago is heavenly!

My wife and I had a wonderful week on vacation. Our Thyme is a beautiful home and is perfect if having family with you. My dad came in the middle of the week and he had the whole bottom floor to himself.
The inside of the home is bright and clean, very open floor plan.
You may want to bring a little wagon to carry your stuff to the beach. Though they have a trail, it still is a good walk. However, after different trip to St. George, this is by far the nicest home we have stand it.
My wife and I are planning on going back to St. George and Our Thyme will be the house we intend to rent.

We were looking for a pet friendly house. We picked this house because it was in the Plantation and near the entrance gate. We enjoy the ammenities furnished such as free telephone, sheets and towels and high speed internet. It is clean and well taken care of and it has a nice sunny porch for our dog.
Our advise is to bring beach chairs and bicycles as none are provided for the guests.
We have been renting this house for 5 years and highly recommend it.

This house is just the right size for the two of us and our old Cocker. We each had a room, sitting room, and TV and met in the middle in the kitchen/dining area. Mornings are glorioius from when the sun starts to peep in and then inundates the upper floor until way after noon. The kitchen ammeneties were ample and everything was in working order and very tidy. We also thought the furniture and colors used are appropriate for a nice little beach house. The only drawback is the amount of stairs if that is one's concern. The steps up to the door from the car are many and the bathroom for the top bedroom is on the middle floor.
