Athens, GAGood House--Just Needs Some Sprucing Up
Left on 01/14/2013 for a stay in January 2013
First of all let me say we had a good experience at Sun Treader: Good location in the Plantation, good value for the money, good layout. Overall we were happy with the property and probably would stay there again. What follows should be taken as constructive criticism from someone who watches many (too many?) home improvement shows on TV and just wants to see a good property restored to pristine status.
First, you enter on to astro turf-covered steps on the lower stairs--not a good first impression, but understanable as a way to trap sand and dirt as you enter. But once in the house the carpet was really worn and stained. It really needs replacement in the living area and master bedroom, especially. Tile would be better than replacing this carpet (like in the tiled kitchen).
Bedrooms were great. Only thing in the master was the odd placement of the sink/vanity outside the bathroom/shower and tub, giving the bedroom a motel-like quality. But on the plus side, you didn't fog the mirror when you showered! Separated bedroom plan was also great--on opposite ends of the main floor; good for privacy.
The refridgerator was also very old--it worked ok, but was rusty and not very appealing to look at. Washer and dryer were likewise functional, but also look like they'd been there siince about 1982. Not so bad with these since you didn't have to look at them, but the fridge tended to ruin the look of the kitchen.
Outside, the screens and their framing on both porches were torn and some of the framing was rotting--could use a total makeover. And the exterior siding was in need of a good pressure washing and then a good staining job before further weathering requires actual siding replacement.
And if you were expecting to make use of the fish cleaning station, you would have been out of luck--the sink and taps were rusted and non-functional, the counter pretty well rotted, and the whole thing needs to be replaced.
But the park-style grill was brand new--I clearly was the first one ever to light a fire in it and it was great for grilling our traditional hot dogs.
Perhaps the best room was the upstairs with the great view of the gulf and a good working fireplace which we took advantage of since we stayed in January.
Overall, it was a positive experience--any house on the island, especially in the Plantation, can't be all bad. Fix this one up a bit and it will be a great house.
P.S. We were concerned after reading in an earlier review about roaches in the house. We relayed our concerns to the rental agency who assured us they would spray the house and obviously did as we saw no roaches or any other bugs or critters--good job Resort Vavation Properties. -

San Antonio, TexasGreat Location, Older Home, Overpriced
Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012
While we loved the location of this home we were less than thrilled with the shabby interior. The refrigerator in the kitchen was rusty and the freezer smelled like fish (the ice smelled bad too). The kitchen counters are pink/mauve and not very pretty. The kitchen was very nicely appointed. Coffee maker, filters, toaster, coffee press, pots and pans galore, wine glasses, blender, can opener. You really don't need to bring anything as far as the kitchen goes. The upstairs rec room is nice but it could have been better if it had some sort of game table like air hockey or pool table.
The biggie: Roaches. At least I think they were roaches. I used my shaker for a martini and sat it in the sink. 5 minutes later there was a silver dollar sized roach crawling up the side of it. Throughout our visit we continued seeing these wretched creatures in the house. The property management company said they would send someone to spray but I never saw anyone and the roaches didn't seem affected if they did. Bring a big rubbermaid bin to store your food in to keep the roaches away.
The nice thing about the home is that it is a very short walk from the beach. I was worried it was going to be a longer walk but I was really surprised to find that the boardwalk is just a very short walk down the driveway and to the right. The beach is beautiful, but be aware that it is different from the Panama City Beaches in that there are lots of broken sea shells. They kinda hurt my feet. We were surprised to look up and see dolphins/porpoises jumping out of the water about 30 feet away.
The property management company is very friendly. We had a death in the family and had to reschedule our vacation with very short notice and they were very accommodating. We needed to fax some business paperwork and they allowed us to use their fax. They personally get 5 stars!
Overall... Decent place. Overpriced due to needing an update.

Atlanta, GANice beachfront view for a 1st tier location!
Left on 04/01/2011 for a stay in September 2010
We enjoyed this house location and layout. All of the bedrooms and open kitchen-dining-living area are on the first floor; two large screened porches in addition to large front porch; huge second living room upstairs with TV/DVD and even better view. Furnishings could be updated, but not shabby. Attractive Florida-beach architecture and nicely-vegetated private lot.

We love Saint George Island, we now always use Resort Vacation Properties. We stayed at three of their rentals in 2010. Sun Treader was very nice, the upstairs has the most fantastic view of the sunrise. The floor plan is a nice plan for two families. Very well equipped kitchen, short walk to the beach. All of the properties we have rented from Resort Vacation Properties have been great.

New Albany, IndianaGood location, not so great House
Left on 03/25/2011 for a stay in November 2010
The house was in a great location, the home looked as thou it was in the midst of being remodeled. We had a service man there to work on the dishwasher, and the a/C, and he didn't return with the dishwasher. There were problems with the master bath toilet, I kept having to work on the ball valve. We didn't call on that because we thought that we might as well not worry about that. The carpet in the living dining room was dirty and it smelled. We went out and got carpet freshener and tried that. That didn't work either. We always rent with Resort Properties but I don't believe we would rent this house again.

AtlantaVery pleased with house
Left on 06/03/2010 for a stay in May 2010
We had stayed at Suntreader previously and this time invited my parents to join us. The house is very comfortable, clean. We did sleep on sofa beds upstairs, the mattresses are badly stained (gross) and blankets were poor. Otherwise the house was wonderful, kitchen very well equipped which I appreciated very much. It is nice they have a few beach chairs although we brought our own. We appreciated the cleanliness of the house and that we were able to bring our dog. Thank you
