Knoxville, TennesseeGreat location, but property needs updating
Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The good: location, location, location. Wind Sailor is in the Plantations, isolated from the traffic and crowds of the middle island. It is also right on the beach, only a short boardwalk away. Very nice. The place was also clean and airy. I really liked the layout of the place. Outdoor shower was fine for sand removal, with both hot and cold water.
Needs work: a lot of items here. Dishwasher needs to be replaced. Missing wheels makes the lower rack very difficult to operate. Also, they need a disposall in the sink. There needs to be an ice maker. The freezer worked fine, bit the fridge never did cool down properly, over seven days. It needs to be replaced. The dishes were mismatched, but this did not matter to us. Also, the place did not have wifi. Needs to be added.
The worst: the beds need to be replaced. We slept poorly, which is a big deal to all of us.
Enjoyed the visit overall, but would not stay here again.Response from Resort Vacation Properties of St. George Island - 09/21/2012

Renting is always easy through Resort. The home is plenty of space for 4 to 6 people. The location on the island is wonderful, but the amenities are just average. We were there on a very stormy weekend, so we were indoors more than normal. There is only 1 television in this home. An alternative might have been nice. We love to cook big meals and could have used some updated kitchen equipment. The dishwasher needed some repair also.
Overall, always love St. George in the Plantation subdivision! I would stay there again, but might bring a few more pots and pans with me.Response from Resort Vacation Properties of St. George Island - 03/29/2012

TallahasseeNot what I expected
Left on 01/24/2012 for a stay in August 2011
The pictures in the brochure make this house look lovely and comfortable. The minute I walked in the door I was disappointed. There was no ice maker. There were ice cube trays. I haven't made ice cubes like that for 20yrs. The microwave was old and sounded like it was going to explode when it was turned on. The second night we found sand scorpions in one of the bedrooms. We called the rental office and they sent the exterminator who agreed that that is what they were. So we closed that bedroom and bunked up in two bedrooms instead of three. Not comfortable for the next 5 nights. The dishes were mismatched and a variety of sizes. The glassware was old, plastic, stained and water spotted. There were only a few pieces of silverware and it was so cheap that I bent a fork stirring cookie dough. The dishwasher was about 4 screws short of a snug fit and it almost fell out of the cabinet when it was opened. There were only 2 Tv's and one VCR/DVD player. The second TV was smaller than the small microwave. The mattresses were old, nasty and terribly stained. They were totally disgusting. There was probably more but, in general, the house was a pit.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. We apologize that Wind Sailor did not meet your expectations in several ways. We appreciate you reporting some maintenance items during your visit so that they could be addressed. The dishwasher has been repaired and no further issues have surfaced. The microwave was inspected by a technician and it functions properly at this time. We apologize that pests decided to visit the home during your stay. We know this was a terrible inconvenience. All of our homes are on a monthly pest control program. From time to time, despite our best efforts, pests still make an appearance and require additional treatments. When the exterminator sprayed during your visit, this should have eradicated the pests. We pride ourselves in having a wide variety of properties available for all sorts of needs and budgets. On your next visit to St. George Island, we hope you will allow us to find a home that exceeds your expectations.

Five women had a wonderful experience at the Wind Sailor. The location was
good for us, far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to
be convenient to town. People were very nice on the island. Turtle watching
was so much fun and the star filled sky was beautiful.
The home had plenty of room, nice sleeping rooms and baths. I wish it had a
few more kitchen supplies as we ate in most of the time. The back porch was
fabulous for reading, talking, or watching a summer rain. -

We've been coming to St.George for over 25 years. We started when the first of our four kids was a baby. We thought we'd give it a try and then check out some other beaches. We've never been anywhere else...Why? St.George has it all.
Our kids are all grown now. We discuss other vacation sites. We always return to our beloved St.George...Do yourself a favor. Try the finest resort beach in the continental USA. You won't regret it. We never have!
