Description from the owner
Sweeping views of Georges Bay and the surrounding tree covered hills make sitting on the deck at the Beach House at St Helens a very relaxing and 'away from it all" experience. The Bay of Fires beaches are close by and Coles Bay is just 1 hour south. Pelicans and sea eagles soar above and the laughing Kookaburra will come and say hello in the tall gum trees. Enjoy direct bay beach access on a private path through the native Australian shrubs.

BrisbaneComfortable and well priced
Left on 04/16/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We enjoyed our stay and found the beach house comfortable. It had everything we needed. The view was spectacular.
We travelled with a baby and it definitely wasn't very baby proofed and the walk to the bay is a bit precarious. -

I arranged the rental direct with the owner and all went according to arrangements. If you are staying in St Helens this is the perfect location if you have a car. Its a short drive round the bay but you are rewarded with elevation and beautiful views. The beach was pristine with crystal clear water. The property had everything we needed and more!! I would stay at the Beach House again certainly.

This much loved and well presented house has everything you need for a comfy stay . To call it a beach house is perhaps stretching the point, as whilst there are lovely views access to the beach is difficult and it's not really a beach anyway, more estuary. There are many lovely places to drive too and we enjoyed our time there.

Melbourne, AustraliaCosy Comfort
Left on 10/06/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Our stay at the cottage was great. The house was very comfortable, with lovely open fire and a view of the sea from the deck. The bedrooms were a good size, and again comfy and inviting. A good selection of Cd's, Dvd's and books to read. Booking of the house and helpful tips from the owner was excellent. St Helens is a convenient place to stay , with a short drive in the hire car to the main part of town or longer if walking. The Blue Shed restaurant by the water was good but a bit pricey. There is a blue boat fish and chip cafe on the water which you must try. It's only 10kms north to Binalong Bay and the start of the Bay of Fires. Fantastic stretches of white sandy beaches and ocean with at times, not a soul around. Magic. Binalong Bay cafe has a great menu. We had breakfast and dinner there. Meals were reasonably priced and well worth the trip. You may need to book. I'm still dreaming of the chocolate self saucing pudding, which was to die for. I have no hesitation in recommending the Beach House to stay and look forward to going back again sometime soon.

SydneyWonderful log fire, entertaining and beautiful beach house
Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We loved the open log fire and the beautiful back deck where we watched birds and looked at the view over the bay. We ran out of time to entertain ourselves with all the books, games, outdoor fire area. Everything that we wanted was generously provided. The house is on a suburban street that leads out of town - but house feels nice and private, the block runs all the way down to the water. There are many beautiful things to admire in this cosy and happy retreat. We booked by email - which was very easily arranged.

The house was very clean, well maintained and obviously much loved by the owners. It was quiet and had a lovely view. The beach was just at the bottom of a bush path. The house had character and charm. The front gate and fences made us feel secure with our 20 month old baby.

beach house in ideal position overlooking the water. refreshing breeze all the time. house very well equipped for a holiday let and most comfortable. would definitely stay there again and would have no hesitation recommending to friends. but i would warn them it's a communications blackspot on the east coast and you need telstra if you want to use a mobile of wirelass internet broadband.

Everything was as expected. The house was very comfortable and clean. We loved the sunroom/dining area with great views over the bay. The kitchen had everything we needed and there was a good variety of reading material. Nothing to dislike, we would book again.

Alice Springs, NT, AustraliaPlan to stay at least a week!
Left on 02/03/2010 for a stay in January 2010
Beach House at St Helens was a wonderful week long high point in our trip to Tasmania from the Central Australian Desert. Barbequeing on the deck with a view of the bay whilst watching the cloud patterns and sunsets was wonderful. The house is exceptionally well equipped (especially if you enjoy cooking) without being cluttered; stylish without being precious or stuffy (we could could relax with our children). Location wise we enjoyed nearby beaches and sanddunes and a short drive to Binalong Bay was a favourite with the kids who rode the fast flow of the lagoon emptying into the sea through granite boulders at low tide. The hosts are generous, trusting, considerate and allow you to make your own discoveries in the region whilst providing useful recommendations. Perfect!

Happy Camper
Launceston, Tasmania1 Night is NOT enough!!!
Left on 01/19/2010 for a stay in January 2010
From the moment we walked in the door we felt at home. We didn't know
what to do first - just sit and look at the view of the bay from the good
sized deck, watch the many provided dvd's on the adequately sized flat
screen tv, read one of the many provided books, make a cuppa in the
kitchen with EVERYTHING provided or go for a walk down the private track
to the beach. The Beach House has a very comfortable queen sized bed and
another bedroom to sleep 3 or 4 if needed. The dining table is large and
seats 6 and with the blinds up one can dine and look at the view, or if
preferred dine at the outdoor table on the deck. An open fireplace would be
great to use in the winter and there are adequate electric heaters if needed.
Laundry and bathroom facilities are also very good and the added decor
touches are very well done. Just a short drive to St Helens with all
conveniences available, or a short walk to the convenience shop up the
road. The only complaint we had was the weather could have been better,
but hey one can't control that!!! Overall, very clean, tidy and a great place to
stay for more than one night to experience the ambience, and the peace and
quiet of the Beach House! Oh, nearly forgot, the lounge suite is sooo
comfortable and it is a pleasure to find somewhere that offers comfortable
seating as so many places don't. Can't wait to go back sometime again this
year for a longer stay!! -

My Wife,Daughter, Mother in Law and Myself spent 16/17 November at the Beach House and just wished it could have been longer.
The house is the best equiped of any accommodation we have ever stayed in and we have travelled to many places throughout the world.
The view is tremendous, wonderful birdlife and overall just a very enjoyable experience.
I will be and have been recommending this place to anybody travelling to Tasmania in the future and hopefully we can spend more time there next time.
Thank you.
Best regards.

thanks helen for such a wonderful 4 day break in your lovely beach house.
it had everything you could possibly want for, and more!
loved the open fire in the garden at night and wandering down to the bay at the bottom of the garden for a paddle.
this is surely one of the best locations in tassie for a relaxing break where you're just as happy to hang out at your accommodation as exploring the beautiful area surrounding.
thanks, sarah -

The Beach House at St Helens is a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Spacious and well appointed, with all the comforts of a traditional Australian shack - open fire, books, board games, boogie boards. Loved the view of the Bay and the natural garden sloping down to the foreshore. Highly recommended!

We loved the beach house, everything was perfect,
from instructions about arriving to the view out the
back deck. The kids loved exploring the
backyard...all the way down to the beach and we
enjoyed the elegant and relaxed decor. It is a
wonderful place to relax.
Thanks for the opportunity, I wish there were more
beach houses across the country so that I could be
assured of such comfort and style where ever I go. -
