Oustanding property - impossible to find fault!

Left on 10/01/2012 for a stay in September 2012

I cannot beleive there is a better property in St. Ives available to the holiday rental market. This cottage really is top class - lovingly renovated not long ago. Every possible amenity is provided. Nothing is missing from this place, especially if you have young children - there's children's books, games, beach toys. 3 flat screen TVs. 3 bright bedrooms. The cottage is immaculately clean. It' set over 3 floors with a fully equipped kitchen in the basement. Parking is a nightmare of course, but this is St. Ives and everyone has the same problem. There is a parking space for this propert 15 minutes walk away. Keys are collected from the store a few metres away. A tip is to park at the cottage and walk back the few metres to Norway Stores and pick up your key - do not drive there. Set in the middle of old St Ives the cottage is close to beachs and the harbour. We last stayed in St Ives in 1963 - how the standards have changed in 49 years! This really is a 5 star property. We were so pleased.

      Fantasy Holiday Cottage

Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Exceptionally well furnished, homely with great appliances. This accommodation was top class. We loved the nooks and crannies and idiosyncracies. Well stocked, clean and very useful extras like a bottle of wine on arrival, loads of TVs and washer/dryer. Lots of space for St Ives, large farmhouse kitchen downstairs, 3 well appointed bedrooms, lots of living space.

The location is perfect, a short stroll gets you to the harbour, porthmeor beach or porthgwidden beach within minutes, with a great little corner shop (newspapers, bread, milk, wine) close by as well.

Although there is no on-site parking (parking space is very rare in this bit of St Ives) there are long stay car parks nearby and the owner provides you with a parking space a short walk away. We travelled by plane from Manchester, UK so this was not an issue for us anyway.

This holiday was very challenging for us as my partner is currently using a wheelchair. This cottage is nineteenth century so not very accessible but the owner could not have been more helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible, arranging with previous guests so that specialist equipment could be delivered and sending back lost property very quickly.

It made our stay in St Ives very special.

      Everything you could wish for

Left on 07/12/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Faultless cleanliness, decor and comfort. Spacious, light, bright and welcoming and beautifully equipped. Unbeatable location, just as described, so easy to access everything St Ives offers.
The steepness of the lower stairs was initially a slight concern but the child gate at the top was good and the two-and-a-half year old managed fine, though the oldies might have liked a downstairs toilet.

Wonderful cottage, wonderful town, wonderful holiday.

Left on 05/11/2011 for a stay in April 2011

My family and I stayed at 1 Island Square, St Ives for a week at the end of april 2011 and had a great time. We hire holiday cottages across the UK as it's preferable with a small child and of all the ones we have stayed in I can't recommend this property enough.

The location in Downlong, the oldest centre of St Ives is just lovely. 30 second walk to the harbour front and just a few minutes away from St Ive's gorgeous beaches. The plentiful restaurants and bars kept me more than happy and my wife was in her element bumbling around the vast array of independent clothes and art shops. The cottage itself is surprisingly spacious, spotlessly clean and is incredibly well stocked, nothing has been overlooked.

Whilst the distance to the parking space is a minor negative (about a 15 minute walk) once you've unpacked your stuff, you'll have no need for the car again as everything is within easy walking distance.

I'd recommend many of the restaurants in town, especially the SeaFoodCafe on Fore Street, alternatively you're always guaranteed a cracking evening round the corner at 'The Sloop' Inn.

Also recommend the Mackerel fishing, spending days on the golden beaches or just immersing yourselves in the old centre of St Ives.

We were very lucky with the weather but even without it, the cottage and the town are perfect for a relaxing break away from it all.

      1 Island Square, St Ives

Left on 04/13/2011 for a stay in April 2011

This was our first to St Ives and we were delighted to find this gem of a home in which to spend our holiday. We have two small children (6 & 3) and found the house had every comfort to make our stay a really memorable one. The house is very centrally located in the heart of the village, within a stones throw of the harbour which is very safe for paddling kids and a stones throw from the beach. The cobbled streets with it's many shops and galleries are delightful to wanders around to shop or browse. The house is extremely well equipped and comfortable. The bedrooms have louvered blinds which meant we enjoyed the sunny mornings and sleeping late in the morning wasn't an option, but with two small children I guess that wasn't going to be an option anyway. There is a very useful car parking space that comes with the propety about 10 minutes walk away but if you want handier parking there is a council car park only seconds away at the cost of £33 per week. All in all we had a great time. One thing we would say is the Tate was a huge disappointment, at £6.50 a ticket we thought it was a rip off, best check what the exhibition is before committing to going, the local galleries are far better and free!!

A Beautiful Holiday Home in the Heart of St Ives

Left on 03/30/2011 for a stay in March 2011

St Ives is my favourite place in the whole of England. I have stayed there many times with my family and would recommend it to anyone, of any age. As we have a young child we wanted to look for a 'child friendly' appartment without compromising on style. We discoved '1 Island Square' by looking on the internet and as we know St Ives well, we knew it was in a really good spot in the very pretty part of St Ives. Its right in the heart of this busy sea side town with beautiful beaches, restaurants and shops right on the doorstep. It is easy to drop off luggage by stopping right outside the premises. The parking space is a ten minute drive away, as you have to utilise the one way system, but it only takes about five minutes to walk back to the premises using the more direct pathways.
The house is a really good layout and size set over three floors. The lower floor has a large kitchen diner and seating area, including a television. Its extremely well equipped, there are even buckets and spades if you have forgotten your own! The second floor has a large entrance hall and cosy but spacious living room. The top floor has three good sizes bedrooms and a bathroom. There is plenty of storage space and all bedrooms were equipped with clean, fresh bedlinen and towels. This house is extremely well decorated and furnished to high standard and the owner was in contact to ensure our stay was perfect. Another plus point was we had beautiful weather for March and cant wait to come back again in September!

What a gem in the heart of St Ives!

Left on 10/01/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We had the pleasure of being some of the first guests to stay at 1 Island Square after its recent renovation...and what a treat! The Cottage itself is located in the heart of the town, just a short stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour. There is space outside the property to unload your luggage and a public car park just seconds away. We paid £33 for a weekly ticket which allows you to come and go as you please and to use any of the other council run car parks in the town. The property itslef is a traditional fisherman’s cottage that has been updated to a very high standard while maintaining the original look and feel. You enter the cottage into a spacious reception area with the lounge off to your right and stairs directly in front. The lounge was very comfortable and cosy and tastefully decorated. There is a flat screen TV, DVD player and stereo as well as board games and an interesting selection of books to choose from. There is also WiFi connection - Very important to most people these days! Down stairs is where the fisherman would have originally kept their nets. Now it's a very well equipped Kitchen and dining room with all the Mod cons. Great Cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer as well as good quality crockery and cutlery. There is a family size dining table as well as an area with wicker furniture and another flat screen TV.and radio. The second floor has three good size bedrooms and a neat bathroom. Each room has a white colour scheme and some nice decorative touches. All rooms have a wardrobe and chest of draws providing ample storage for your clothes. The Bathroom is small and neat with the space being very well utilised. All bath towels and bed linen is supplied on site. The cottage is in a great location with everything just a short walk away. The town itself is delightful and is full of fantastic places to eat and drink - Olive’s cafe across from the cottage is a must for cream teas and cakes! We would recommend the beaches at Porthmear and porthminster which are just a short walk away and especially the Porthminster cafe for that special lunch or dinner. Overall, the accommodation was everything and more that we could have expected. It's spacious but cosy and you feel at home straight away. We would thoroughly recommend 1 Island Square and hope to return sometime very soon!

Fantastic property in the best location in St Ives

Left on 09/30/2010 for a stay in July 2010

The cottage is situated right where any family would want to be when staying in St Ives, within a stones throw of both the beaches and the shops.
The house is fantastic- a great size and spotlessly clean. The house is spacious and does not feel that you are on top of each other-especially on those rainy days. The house is kitted out with all the modern appliances needed, washing machine/dryer, great TV. The kids loved it and I want to buy it! I would certainly recommend this to anybody who wants to stay at the best address/area in St Ives.
