Lovely Long Island Home on 3 acres -Close to Beach

Beautiful 4 bedroom 2 bath Long Island home nestled in the historic village of Saint James on the North Shore. This space is the main floor of a ranch house located a convenient 60 miles away from New York City but a world away in vacation experience. It is easily accessible by car or train.

The house is on 3 acres of land, secluded from the local road by a long driveway, and surrounded by woods. There is a spacious living room, a separate dining room with seating for 8, and a large, warm eat-in kitchen. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and a separate, enclosed porch and veranda. Two other bedrooms have full size beds and a... fourth bedroom has a pair of twin beds perfect for kids. The home has lots of light and free WiFi. Other amenities include hardwood floors, a wood burning fireplace, a new outdoor grill area with picnic tables, spacious lawns for kids to play or just to soak up the sun.

The house is located about 5 minutes from local beaches which border the Long Island Sound. The surf is quiet, the sand is white, and the beaches stretch for miles. Lots of watersports, including sailing, windsurfing, fishing and canoeing are available nearby. Nearby horse farms offer horseback riding and nearly every road in the village is great for bicycling.

From home, it's an easy trip to the Hamptons for shopping and ogling celebrities, Montauk Point for a deep sea fishing expedition, or Jones Beach to listen to an open air concert. There also excellent shopping at the Smithhaven Mall (about a 10 minute drive) and a host of other discount outlets that dot Long Island's North Shore. Other fun activities include in-season strawberry and pumpkin picking at local farms, browsing local yard sales on the weekends, visiting Robert Moses State Park or Fire Island for a dip in the ocean.

One of the pleasures of the Long Island experience is the local dining and shops. Multiple excellent and innovative restaurants are within a 10 minute drive and the village of Saint James, a mile away, provides easy access to everything you might need to make your stay more enjoyable, including supermarket, pharmacy, bakery, post office and ice cream shop.

This quiet home is great for a weekend or midweek getaway from the craziness of urban life. It is also perfect for a summer retreat of sand, sea, & sun. There is a play space & recreation area in the lower level, as well as a laundry room, with washer & dryer.

  We stayed at Estela's wonderful Smithtown house from November 30 - December 7 and had a fantastic time. Our east coast relatives on Long Island hadn't seen us for a long time so after our granddaughter was born we began making plans to come out to New York for a nice, week long visit. The house was perfect for our needs and in a great location which is both isolated and beautiful as well as being close enough to stores to be convenient. We were able to host a family style dinner on our first Sunday there and the great dining room with huge dining room table was perfect for us. Everyone was seated comfortably and we even had a "kid's table" in the kitchen which has it's own table for six! Truly a dream come true. There was a cold snap while we were there and the heaters worked perfectly. Sadly we didn't get a chance to use the fireplace in the livingroom, I guess we were out visiting too much! We are already planning our next vacation to New York for next year and hope that Estela's place is available for that time. This time we only came out with four adults and one 17 month old, next time we plan to bring a few more family members and believe me, this place can easily handle the people. The washer and dryer in the basement was an added bonus for us so that we did not have to bring any dirty clothes back home...we were also able to pack less stuff for our trip which helped a lot with how much airlines charge for luggage these days!! Thank you Estela for all your kindness and your many prompt returns of our emails. You are a fantastic host and we can't wait to visit again!
