Sail away II is a beautiful location. For the most part the unit was clean discounting the windows and baseboards. The problems were many however. The furniture was worn out and very uncomfortable. The wi-fi and the washing machine had to have servicing. The beds were old and worn out. Our backs hurt after our visit and recovered once we hit a good motel.. The pillows were flat and old. It was cold and drafty. No blankets! only sheets and bedspreads. The television and cable service was pathetic. We love Mexico Beach and the staff at Forgotten Coast Property.

      Location, Location, Location!

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012

My husband and I took our grown children and grandchildren on vacation. At times we had 18 people in the house. Lots of room. We rented both sides of the home. I was glad I took some cooking supplies. Just because I was cooking for alot of people. I would suggest if you are doing alot of cooking... take your groceries with. The grocery stores were not what I am use to. Oh, there is a Dollar General right down the street. I think we were there everyday for some reason or the other.
It was unanimous the location of this home Right On the Beach was just so beautiful!!! Really... words can not even describe!

We booked Sail away 1 and 2 for my daughters wedding in april of 2011. The houses themselves were wonderful, the setting beautiful. The issues caused by the property management company were unacceptable. Since I am limited to 2000 characters, I cannot fully explain here but feel free to contact me for details.

Great place to stay at the beach. The kitchen had everything someone would want during there stay. The stove had 2 knobs that were broken and would not operate the stove. The house had several light bulbs out. These 2 things are the only problems we found during our stay.We will be back again. The walkway to the beach was short and really made it nice.

      Wonderful!

Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012

My husband and I wanted somewhere we could take our English bulldog. So we had already knew about the Mexico beach area as we had visited in 2006 with my mom , dad, and brother. So we decided to come back. Our first time staying at sail away II was in march for a week, we loved it so much we decided to book it again for the first week of June. It was wonderful both times staying here. The place is wonderful, although the tvs aren't that great we had knew to take our own little tv just for when it rained and at night so we could watch movies. The views are amazing, we always slept with the windows open. Downfalls of the place to us where there wasn't really a place for us to take our dog to go outside just along the road, both times we took her, and you couldnt walk her by the house because there was some kind of plant that had stickers that would get caught in her paws, so that was a downfall for us, and the first time we were there in march there was a gate on the porch so that we could keep her on the porch, when we returned in June the gate was gone, so we had to improvise with blocking the steps. The Internet is very slow, so unless you have to use it, don't. There isn't a cover on the porch for you to get under if it rains. When we visited in June we had a minor bug problem, but we handled it with the lady's at the forgotten coast, she was very helpful since it was after hours. She came to the house sprayed some stuff, left it there for us incase the bugs returned, they did, but we just sprayed the stuff. I guess they were coming out from all the rain. We will definitely return to sail away II for another vacation, we love it in St. Joe beach, the beaches are very secluded no one is ever on the beaches, which is what we like. No crowds! If you haven't stayed with the folks at forgotten coast, do, their wonderful very helpful and there if you need them for anything!! We can't wait for our next vacation here!!

We enjoyed a fun and relaxing vacation!

Left on 06/07/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Overall the accommodations were great. I do have two complaints...1)the washer and dryer. They have got to be the smallest units I have ever seen...not even apartment sized. If you are staying somewhere that accommodates 8 people, you need to be able to at least keep towels and bath cloths washed. This was not a single load...it took at least two if not three everyday! 2)The air/heat settings. I totally understand why they request that the air be placed on 80 when you check out, but if you know another family is checking in the same day, it would be nice to walk into a cool environment instead of it taking several hours to cool down!
Otherwise, the place was nicely stocked with any dishes you need to prepare meals and such. Even though it is close to the road, when you are on the beach you feel like you are almost secluded. I would definitely return. The beach bonfire was awesome...a first for my party and we loved it. I didn't bring my dogs, but it was fun seeing fur-family on the beach. Thanks for sharing your place with us!

      Awesome

Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We had a great stay at Sail away II. From check in to check out we had no issues/friendly staff. Love the location, it's peaceful, somewhat secluded, just the right place for some serious R&R.; It's close enough to Mexico Beach and Port St Joe to zip either way if you want to venture out. We really love the fact that you can take your dog on the beach at anytime and the dog had a great time out there. We built bonfires at night & just chilled on the beach. Grilling on the large deck is awesome too b/c you can grill, eat, have a cocktail all while watching that gorgeous sunset and still have that awesome view of the ocean. When we go to the beach we love to stay on the beach and not have to get in our car to go places and this is the perfect place for that. (of course we did go to Bailey's one night just a couple of blocks away & the food & service there was excellent ask for Victor he is an awesome waiter) The house was well furnished, you have a view of the ocean from almost every room. The only thing I wish they had was some type of shelter on just half of the deck so if it's really hot or if it's raining you could still sit on the deck. We loved it & we will definitely be staying there again.

We had a wonderful time at Sail away 11. So peaceful, and relaxing. Our first time staying in St. Joe Beach. Our dog had a blast playing in the sand. One of the reason we stayed there was because we could bring our dog. We are planning a return trip. Forgotten Coast was great. Recommended excellent places to eat and visit. Only to two things that need to be fixed.
Boardwalk is very slippery going onto the beach. Accident waiting to happen. Screens need to be on all windows.

Pleasant, secluded and very nice house.

Left on 09/08/2011 for a stay in September 2011

A truly enjoyable vacation home with easy access to the beach and a very efficient staff at the rental office. We look forward to returning again next year and do recommend it to anyone looking for a secluded, comfortable getaway.
My only negative comments would be the queen bed in the upstairs bedroom sags to the middle and the boardwalk to the beach needs steps at the beach instead of a ramp, because the ramp is very slippery when covered with sand. We had two people slip and fall when we first used it and usually stepped off the side after that.

I liked the fact that this was a pet friendly house since it is on a pet friendly beach...hard to find! It was also accommodating to my grandmother since their were few stairs to get in the front door and a bedroom on the main floor. We did have a hard time with the beach end of the boardwalk. Slope is a little steep, needs to be stairs. There were also only 3 coffee cups in the house that sleeps 8, so bring your own! Sail away I next door has some great upgrades including a 3rd bathroom. We will stay there next time. Overall, we had a great time and it was a good vacation home.

Left on 06/24/2010 for a stay in June 2010

I think this rental was great...the kitchen was first class! The house is set up great! Since it has upstairs - if you have children or travel with another couple it is like they have their own space. Kids go upstairs! We totally enjoyed the house...
Suggestions: We were with another couple...preferred a private entrance from the master bedroom to the bathroom...We did not get any rain the week we stayed...but a screened porch or some type of cover for the deck would be nice!!

      Stormy Sail Away II

Left on 04/29/2010 for a stay in April 2010

Sail Away II is a nice home with a few issues. During our stay we went through some extreme weather so were confined . The living room furniture needs replacing; the couch which i think was a pull out bed would be better suited for an outdoor room; the seat cushion was totally flat , two other chairs were also uncomfortable which is a shame because sleeping six there was not enough chairs for everyone to relax on . At 4 am we were awakened by the wind whining through the door facing the water; an unbelievable noise so no one could sleep.Other than those issues it's a beautiful home. We enjoyed the quiet beach and being able to bring our dogs, though at a price!

While there's not much the owner can do about the weather, he did read the review and acted immediately. Sail Away II now has a brand new sleeper sofa and loveseat as well as two single chairs. Take a look at the new pictures and I'm sure you will agree, it is now the "perfect" beach front getaway.
