Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Leeward is a magnificent house perched high over Rendevous Bay a couple of miles outside the Cruz Bay dining and retail area. The sun moves across the sky in front, with beautiful rises and sets. Everything about the house is modern, clean, convenient, but the house has the feel of an older plantation style of life on the island (despite the lovely pool between the two wings). Hummingbirds, lizards and caterpillars among the lush plantings around the house let you know you were in the tropics.
Only disappointment at Leeward was that we could never figure out how to get down to the lovely beach we could see on the east side of Rendezvous Bay. Oh well, we managed to find many other beautiful beaches...
There are neighbors on either side (quite close), but they are very well screened by the gardens and the occasional overheard conversations were not bothersome at all.
It was very easy and quick to drive into town for shopping or dinner and from town around to the north side beaches. Only hassle was exiting the driveway into a pretty blind road - fortunately, no close calls for us!
St John at Christmas was delightful - lots of vacationers, but everyone friendly, well-mannered, full of holiday spirit. The restaurants were bustling and delicious; the weather and water perfect. Go!
